Glowing or Blinking Puck (For Fog)

Recommended Posts

The rink that I play in has unplayable fog at times. For spectators, it is even worse; at least if one is on the ice, then the distance to the puck can only be so much.

Is there a glowing/ blinking puck that is available for purchase?

i play at a semi outdoor rink, although i've never seen "the fog" when playing there i've heard, the coaches with get both team to do a bunch of "public skate" loops around the rink.  they say you can actually watch the fog rise off the ice.  maybe give that a try?

I highly recommend the light up puck sold by "Nicerink".  One came with a rink kit and I was fully expecting it to be a gimmick and not worthy of much use.  The puck is very impressive and appears to be a real puck that was drilled out and a solid polycarbonate core was placed inside.  I wouldn't call it supper bright, but the durability/quality far exceeded my expectations.  (link below)

HAHA!! Oh yea, we have tried this. It actually works, for about 5 minutes, and then the fog returns. We play in the middle of a mall, where they do not like to "waste" the Air Conditioning on us (we usually play at night, when the mall is not as busy), in a city on the Equator, and the rink is surrounded by restaurants, and there are enormous sections of windows around the rink, so the sun is pouring in through the windows, onto the ice (during the day)

Few years ago at the Pond hockey tournament in Minneapolis they decided to have some games a night. There were lights but the rinks were still pretty dark so they used some pucks that looked like those lit biscuits. They were crap. Way lighter than a normal puck and even on lite shots the light would sometimes go out. They no longer play night games at that tournament.

I immediately thought of this. No sure what the present availability is though..

I thought that those tracers were somehow set up, to only show up on the actual TV broadcast. I never went to any games when the league was doing this stuff. So, had I actually gone to a game during this era, then I would have actually seen the tracers, from the stands?

This would be great, if we could get this.
