I just got a crazy idea

Ok, my room is way too big for my liking, so I want to build a locker stall in this about 4 1/2' wide cubby sort of cutout in my room. Does anyone have pictures of stalls with or without equipment in them? Or if anyone has done something similar before.

I air my stuff out in a seperate room, but then bring it up, and it'd have a window right behind it. My room is massive, I've never had a problem with keeping my equipment in it and it smelling.

Cool, thanks JR. That's pretty much about what I would do, the center section at least. Rig up a nameplate or something also.

The only hard part is making sure it isn't top heavy. It has to be fairly wide and deep to avoid that.

Yeah, I'm throwing IMs back and forth with a guy I used to be on a team with who had one in his rec room. He said it's a real matter of spreading weight out and having the structure support weight evenly with the wall.

yeah, my mom's sorta been hinting I should do something with my room 'cause it looks boring as hell. and I just have random hockey equipment against the walls. I figure I could use this bench we have with a flip up seat to be the bottom and keep old equipment in. Then build a cubby up top with hangers on the bottom for jerseys, skates, pants.

I've got a free-standing unit that might be similar to the type of thing you are looking at making. You're welcome to build your own from the design - it's not too tough. I'll take some pictures tonight so you can see it.

One corner of my room is totally dominated by a decent sized closet with hooks and hangers for all my equipment and baskets for all the screwdrivers/screws, tape, replacement runners, wax...all that good stuff (sorry, no digital camera...). I've grown immune to the smell, but my family tells me my room reeks, even with the insane amount of "Oust" I spray everywhere.

I think everybody here is looking forward to next season when I should be able to leave my equipment at the rink...

Do a google image search for hockey locker and you should get alot of good ideas.

It's actually probably going to get started on this week. We're painting pretty much every room inside, so when we purchase the paint I'm going to buy the materials I need. With the amount of free time I have, I'd say I'll be done with it by mid-june.
