Shipping Charges?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am looking for a new pair of gloves and I was wondering how much epuck would charge for shipping 1 pair of gloves to Calgary, Canada? Thank you.

It's always $7.99 at ePuck. However, the usually use UPS, so you'll encounter heavy charges from UPS for whatever reason they wish to charge you.

I just ordered from Epuck, great customer service.

anyways, i too had to pay the crazy duties when items were shipped UPS.

I asked about the duty costs and whatnot, and only UPS seems to charge this crazy brokerage fee (According to the UPS guy i deal with regularly) when they bring items across the border. (I live in Vancouver)

On the flipside, you do have the option of getting it shipped via USPS which shouldn't incur any duty/brokerage fees. It cost me $20 USD to ship a shaft and will take about a week or so. I figure that's better than paying an arm and a leg for duties.

So wherever possible, I would think it wise to ship via post or fed ex when going across borders. Also, i think there was a post made a month or so back regarding something like this. Check out this threadhere and look at the first post on the page. I think that'll resolve any shipping questions.

lol sorry for the long post.

I don't remember how EPuck's online ordering works, but just go to their website and add the items to the shopping cart and complete the checkout process (except for paying) to see how much shipping costs.

Ok, Ash emailed me about the shipping charges and said that they would be 30$ american with no brokerage charges via UPS. So is this all that they would charge me for shipping or will UPS somehow manage to tack on additional taxes to this? Great customer service from epuck though.

My company gets lots of deliveries from the US via UPS, and for similarly-sized and priced items (e.g. a set of CDs), the brokerage fees have varied from Cdn$30 to Cdn$70. When we track the items, we can see them sitting in "Customs" for a few days, too.

I suspect, as you do, that there would be brokerage fees charged by UPS.

I got some stuff from epuck late last year (2004), and I opted for USPS (not UPS). There were no additional brokerage fees on top of what epuck quoted me when I received the package.

i am boycotting ups, they seem to be too inconsistent on what they charge for brokerage fees.. but the general rule from my experience is $50cdn

way too much compared to canada post $5 for fedex $0 or $7 (when i called fed ex they said $0, but i would encourage you to call to make sure as well)

my last 2 shipments with usps/canada post, i wasnt even charged duty even though i should have been... your experience may vary

Ok, he said 20$ for USPS but they wouldnt be responsible if anything happened to the package. Has anyone who had experience with USPS have anything bad happen to them? Thank you.

Coming to the US, if you can keep the total value of your order below $200, there will be no broker fees. Once you go over that, even $201, your looking at $21 fees. If it's a Chinese or orient made textile item (which a lot of hockey equipment falls under), you can incur tarrifs and tarrif processing fees too.

I get orders every day from UPS, no problems at all.

I received a package from fedex about 2 weeks ago and I just got a letter from FedEX today containing a bill for brokerage fees!! $32 CAD and $20 taxes/duties on speakers. Appearantly if you ship by fedex ground (and ups ground) then they charge brokerage fees. I read somewhere on the fedex website that if you used the EXPRESS service then the fees are included. I've never received brokerage fees from USPS though and I've received some packages from UPS with no fees.. its all too inconsistent I don't know what to believe anymore!

I think gifts of less than $50 passes through without any problems.. (ie duty or tax or brokerage) but I've only received "gifts" using USPS

Sorry for reviving this thread, but I've done a little research on shipping from the U.S. to Canada. Okay, based on my understanding, if I were to receive my shipment via UPS Express Plus, Express, and Expedited Services, there technically would not be any Customs Brokerage Fee(s). However, one would be taxed in the province that one is living in, i.e., Ontario - 15%. So let’s say the item once converted into CDN funds is $97.13, the fee that the UPS Messenger will be requesting at the door would be approximately $14.57. If you were to receive your item via UPS Standard Service, there would be brokerage fees and taxes. Please refer to <http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html>. As for the U.S. Postal Service, I'm not totally sure on that. Some of the information that I've read from this board is somewhat conflicting with what is stated on the Canada Post site. Please refer to <http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/manual/b06-e.asp>. Specifically, under the Postal Imports section, it states as follows "Gifts from friends and relatives, valued at $60CDN or less, are duty and tax exempt. Goods imported into Canada, valued at $20CDN or more, are subject to all duties and taxes." Perhaps, I'm interpreting this all wrong, but how did some of you guys not have any additional charges via the USPS? I mean, how much were your items in CDN funds? Also, are any of you guys from Ontario who received shipments via USPS/Canada Post from the U.S. to Canada? I'm just curious, since I'm trying to figure out which shipping method is most cost efficient. Anyways, I apologize for the extremely long post.

When shipping to Canada, always use USPS and mark it as a "gift". I've never been charged with this method. I am in Ontario. I've been charged upto $30 when it was marked as a sale (Item was valued at $130ish)

Hey Eazy_b97, you've been charged $30 for something that is approximately $130 CDN when it's marked a "sale" item through USPS? That's interesting, because if that is the case, I think if I ship through UPS Worldwide, it would be somewhat cheaper. I'm estimating that some hockey gear totaling up to approximately $320 CDN, will have approximately a $40-50 tax.
