nike flexlite's

Recommended Posts

i had the chance to take these for a test drive today, im planning on posting a review in the near future, but i had one quick question. i remember JR said in the catalog review for these that no baking was required. does this mean that they cannot be baked? my LHS guy said they can be, i just wanted to double check. glad to answer any questions about the skates in the meantime.

That just means the skates have that "game-ready fit" deal. They can, however, be baked as well.

They have the flexlite 12's at Cyclone Taylors if anyone is looking for them. Only $400 CAD too. I was surprised at how cheap they were seeing as how high-end skates run $500-$700 CAD around here.

How were the heels of the skates, did they really lock you in the skate?

Indeed...I forsee a C/AAA in my near future. Really solid boot.

Really...! Do these skate were pro-stock...or at a special deal( i dunno)??

Because 400$ is freaking cheap for a high-end skate(and i was looking for a pair of nike 2005!!!)

If this gonna be the price...pretty good deal(in my opinions)

Any other know about the price of nike flexlite v12??

Thanks...

I tryed on the 10's and 12's at greatskate today. They are ALMOST identical. Anyway, They are very snug out of the box. They have nice liners and have a confortable upper support/stiffness. I can see the differance between the 10 and 12's, believe me.....its not $120 worth of differance. The 12's have a thiner tounge, but its not that great considering if you take a puck to the upper tounge your done. The outter material is smoother on the 12's as well but nothing special. The last thing that the 12 offers that the 10 doesnt is the sole is carbon-like on the bottom.....again, nothing worth a extra 120 for. The fit is the exact same on both, very snug. The boot is molded with a nice curve around your ankles, its basically the shape you aim for when baking accept its already done :) . The funny thing is that theres no way of knowing if someone will be wearing 10's or 12's because they look nearly identical. The lable for the model is in the upper right corner of the tounge witch will be coverd by your socks anyway. Id say the Flexlite 10's should sell very well being priced $260 at greatskate, $380 for the flexlite 12's.

Also, as JR mentioned; the eyelets on the 12's did seem weak compared to the 10's.

Hope this helped someone,

the 12 is MUCH stiffer. Upper tongue protection doesn't matter when your shinguard is over top, and the skate is cut so high unless your wearing Lil' Rookie shinguards I can't see that being a huge deal.

my first impressions of these were very good. my foot type is: wide forefoot, thick ankles, high arch and average instep.

Did they feel good straight out of the box or do you need to break them in?

-i only skated in them once, so i cant say much about the break in time, but they were quite comfortable out of the box, and i hadn't even baked them. granted, you may have a different foot type. but one thing i noticed was that for a D width, they felt significantly wider than any retail skate id ever tried on.

-for my feet, the heels felt great. really locked me down and had good support around the foot, yet flexed enough at the ankles.

i'm hoping to pick these up for good sometime in the next week, and i'll be able to give a little more detailed feedback once i skate in them a few more times.

That has nothing to do with width, given the width is correct. Radius, sharpening hollow, and blade rocker will influence turning.

WOW, the way you talk guys, it seem this skate v10-v12 are fantastic skate....which i might end up buying them(i need to choose between the New Mission skate(i think it pure L) or the flexlite)

And the price seem pretty low...well 380$ U.S but for the CND they have it at 400 CND at cyclone(very good deal)....and if the v-10 is 100 lower...300$CND for a good skate...nice deal if you ask me

Little question....I use T'blades for 1 yr and a half now, Alot of people are liking the tuuk lightspeed but how the lightspeed2 feel??(when i hold the flexlite v-12 they feel pretty light...in term of weight how much would they feel??

Here is a smaller question...is there a big difference with carbon outsole over the fiberglass outsole??

Thanks

I keep hitting the wide toe caps on my v-12's making hard cross overs or tight hockey turns. I guess the build on my vapor XX's was just easier to skate with in turns. Maybe it's that I'm lacing my skates up all the way and possibly hindering my ankle flex.

Saw the Flexlite 12's and XXX's in my LHS this past weekend. Both are fantasticly light as such. Thing that suprised me most was how more contoured and soft the inside of the Nike's felt as apposed to the Bauers which felt like skates used to 4-6 years ago. I love my V-12's/Roller Daddys so Im definately gonna pick up a pair when either fall apart.

JR, when mentioning your concerns about the eyelets what do you mean exactly? Both my V-12's and Daddys are wearing on the top eyelet on the outside. I assume this is simply from my shin guards causing friction whilst skating. But its really starting to fray allot. Is this supposed to happen?

Any response from BNH on this problem yet?

If I buy a pair of FL-12's is there any noticeble signs on the skates that this could happen? Eg: Weak points, scratches or misc.?

Pull straight out on the laces, not up or forward and you should be OK.
