I've had three kids bring in XXX's for sharpening. Two had mismounted holders and all three had bent steel.

The quality of the steel has nothing to do with the improper mounting of holders. You seriously have to wonder how this BS goes on. If it were cars, and the tires were mounted all crooked, there'd be a recall like *THAT. Bent blades pose a problem, as the skates can't be sharpened correctly and, if bent enough and in a certain way, can cause the skater to lose his edge and wipe out. I'd love to see someone tear up a knee and become the new owner of a hockey company because his skate blades were terribly mounted... Shame on the manufacturers for putting out such horrible quality equipment. Shame on us LHS' for not sending every last pair of the defective skates back. And shame on hockey players for not checking for a proper blade mount.

I have had mine since X mas and have yet to have a problem. I find them to be great skates, there was only one bad spot that had to be broken in with a few skates. No problems with the steel or the holders.

The holders on my XXX"s were mounted improperly. But from what i've heard i was the only one that had this problem in my area. My LHS was really good about it though, and replaced my skates.

I just had a kid in here with a pair of brand new 6000s that was complaining about how they felt on the ice. Guess what the problem was.

I was lucky, steel was straight and holders were mounted ok. Other than some cosmetic damage (puck marks, scratching) they are tip top.

do ccm vectors pose this problem as well? in addition, are vector pros or rbk 8ks better?

I've seen quite a few mismounted CCM blades too.
