Painting Gloves/Glove Dye

Recommended Posts

I found a pair of bauer 5000 gloves that are perfect for me if I just change the color slightly. I know some of the pros use paint to change the color of thier gloves, and I was wondering:

-how it's done

-what kind of paint/dye or both or either

-how long it lasts

thank you in advance

Some equipment managers will spray paint a players gloves if he is traded to their team and the colors don't match. It's usually just a temporary thing until the player gets his new gloves in. Same thing a couple years ago when the Leafs wore the Toronto St. Pats uniforms, they just painted the gloves brown.

Not sure which paint, but when Brian Leetch was traded to the leafs, his really really old easton airs were painted blue/white. He refused to switch apparently

He has been wearing the same gloves for years. He hates new equipment according to everything I've heard.

I remember going to a game in 97 and Leetchie was breaking in the Z-Airs in pregame skates then would switch back to the GX800s for games. I think he finally used the Z-Airs in games around 2000-01.

He probally used the GX 800's since he was playing at Avon old farms.

ACTUALLY..... I used permanent magic marker to do mine (bought some pro-return Oakleys from the Mighty Ducks - who likes eggplant? Blech).

ANYWAY, worked pretty well. I got the perm marker. Every so often slashes and such make touch ups nesc, but overall? It's not noticeable.

Jagr is also like this with equipment (He had spraypaint gloves with the Rangers)

I've seen a lot of guys use electric tape. though depending on the gloves u might see the bottom coloring come through.

Most leagues won't let you use electrical tape, that stuff is like a razor blade when it comes in contact with someones face during a game.

Almost everyone with Eagles that I know have electrical tape on their gloves. They black out everything and it looks pretty good.
