white tape v.s. black tape

Black tape is also a tad bit thicker than white...

Friction yes. Regular black cloth, no.

Goalies will tell you there's no difference in the hope folks don't use black!

Our goalies all say black tape is harder to pick the poisiton of the puck on the blade, hence to try to pre-empt the shot coming.

It must make a difference or why would any one have started making it in black and white?

I think in certain cases that black tape may fool a goalie or defenseman, but I also think that for the puck carrier, there is a slight advantage to using white tape. It helps you see the puck on your own stick better when your head is up. I use white tape becuase I'm pretty sure that my puckhandling is better with it. Never use white on the knob though, as mentioned above. It's bad for the palm of your gloves.

I hear white is better for the palms of your gloves.

i have allways thaught white just didnt leave a color on the palms of ur gloves, it probably doesnt change the feel or anything like that. i have red on my stick now and it doesnt hurt my gloves

The best color tape is Lime Green!!! It might not fool a goalie, but it looks cool and you can see the pcuk with you head up. its also great if your teammates use it because you can easily see your teammates sticks! haha

That stuff is incredibly sticky. I took some off a pro shaft last night and I couldn't believe it.

Yeah, it is really sticky.

I toyed with using it but I think I would only do it if I talcum powered it a bit to take off some of the gummy feeling.

That way you could still have the rubbery properties of the tape but without the stickiness.

When I bought my 6k, the guy who used it (Nate Dicasmiro) had at least 1/2 roll of that on it. He used a ridiculously thick amount of tape, I couldn't even get my hand around it. When I tried to pull it off I couldn't, I had to use a knife.

Yeah it's sticky but I don't think it's as sticky as what some people here have mentioned. From my experience with them I could barely feel the difference from using the powerflex tape compared to a butt end with reg tape. If you guys do decide to get it just make sure you get white because that stuff rubs on to your palms like crazy. My glove's palm is blue now because of the blue powerflex tape i used.

Who cares what color the palm of your glove is?

For me it is white tape for the knob and upper grip with one strip around the shaft just under the knob and friction on the blade.

That's not all black tape does to palms. The black dye in it also deteriorates the palms quicker.
