Hi,

i lost my MP3 in the Metro so i need a new one...

One Question, Can you go to the gym with a Ipod(or any other hard drive MP3) or it will skip??

Ipod Battery Question...How does it hold so much?? is it that bad...??

So, I was looking at the pros and cons and can't decide myself so i'm asking your help on this one

Ipod mini

Pros: Smaller,

good battery playback,

Price

Cons:A bit small(4gb)

Don't really like the design...don't like the ways they make it so round (i don't know if you get what i mean)

Ipod Photo

Pros:

Classy design

30gb

Photo(color screen)

good playback time(17hrs)

Cons:

Price(200$ more than the mini)

Heavier

Bigger(but not too much bigger it only 0.5 inch bigger than the Mini!)

If you have any other SUGGESTION...please post it!

Just dpends what you're gonna be using it for and how much music you're actually going to put on it. I have the nike/philips mp3 player (128mb) and its perfect, light weight, small design and its great for when I work out. It can only hold about 30 songs but I only use it when I'm doing cardio so thats just about as long as I need. Instead of doing pro's and con's of features, you should just base it off of what you need it for and see which ones work for those needs. Damn I'm starting to sound like my parents.

I have the 6GB mini iPod. I love and would recommend them. Well constructed, light weight, small, durable, great battery life

I see no reason to not get an iPod if you have the money. In the same breath, I see no reason to not get a full sized one, they're a much better value. I know if I were to purchase another one or upgrade, I'd go with a photo, just because I think that'd be a nice feature to have.

I'd say any 1GB flash player should be enough music space, and they use AA batteries intstead of the Lithium batteries, which IMO is better.

Just get what you need. If you're only going to listen to music when you're at the gym, I still believe a 4GB iPod Mini is sufficient. That's 1, 000 songs . Let's say each song is 3 minutes long. That's 3, 000 minutes which is 50 hours worth of songs. I don't think you'll work out for 50 hours straight. If it were my choice, I'd choose the 4GB Mini or the 6GB if you really have that many MP3s. I only have 200 mp3s on my computer anyway so a 512MB is what I think is necessary for something around that size. I don't personally think it's humanly possible to fill a 40GB+ iPod with music and actually listen to all of it. The battery is going to run out before you can listen to all the songs once.

So to sum things up. I think 512MB is sufficient but if you want more, I highly suggest you purchase the Apple iPod Mini 4/6GB. I'm not sure about the pricing where you live but here in Vancouver, it's $249.99cdn for a 4GB Mini and around $199.99 for other Hard Drive MP3 Players that are only 1.5GB. So for an extra $50 you can get 3.5GB more and other 512MB players go for about $140. I recommend buying only what you need.

I have the iPod mine, and it is one of the best purchases I've ever made. Excellent sound quality, the earphones (bud style) dont bother your ears, I have 3 GB of songs on it right now (including like all my CD's!). Definatly worth the money.

**I paid $300 CDN shipped to my door off of www.apple.ca**

I have a Mini and its great. 1000 Songs is plenty for me, but it may not be for you. There is no skip problem. I've gone for runs many times with it and no problems.

i have a iPod shuffle and i really like it. It's nice and small and very easy to carry around. The battery life is pretty good. I only have to re-charge it about every 5 or 6 hours at the least.

i've had my eye on the sony nw-hd1 or the nw-hd3, which are the sony equivalents to the ipod. great battery life (up to 30 hours, probably around 2) and supposedly, atrac has awesome sound quality even when compressed a lot. if you have a lot of music, you should take a look at them, because they can hold up to 13,000 songs, when compressed to 48 kbps, and since you can use atrac, they'll still sound like 96 or 128 kbps mp3.

Getting the Mini was the best decision I made, regarding MP3's, hands down. Didn't want an extra 16, 26, or 56GB of room that sat and collected virtual dust. 4GB, even 6GB is just fine. SMall and compact, warranties with Apple a lot better than my 2 previous MP3's whose customer service could barely speak english.

I know of this one MP3 player that my friend has, its call a NOMAD by Creative Labs, and it seems like the best value out there at only $240, for 40gigs. Thats cheaper then the 20gig I-Pod.

I am going to buy a Sony PSP, it retails for about $340 CDN is a game console and movie player and plays mp3s.

I dislike the mini first of all because its size is really not worth the money you pay for it. As well ipods have crappy batteries and often need replacing, so make sure you buy it from a large store and not just a small store that will not send back your malfunctioning parts. The sony battery is alot better. Also ipod headphones will break 8/10 times when you put the volume on full on certain songs. After that the wiring fries and all you hear is staticy sound. If anything get a regular ipod. That seems the best investment to me.

Seriously? Mine lasted at least 15 before it tinkered out on a full charge.

That's the route I'm looking to go as well. The iPod Mini goes for $249.99 at almost every store here. The PSP by itself goes for only $299.99 but it's sold out unless you buy the bundle. So I'm waiting for the next shipment since I don't really want Gretzky Hockey because I hear it's an awful game compared to the better hockey games out there for other consoles.

well 4 gig isnt small in my opinion, my last mp3 player had 128mb and it was enough, so i would go with the mini.

Okay... my last MP3 was a Creative Muvo(128mb) and it was always full...so i did not really like it...and it was so damn small..that i lost in the metro lol!!!

I plan to use the extra GB...has a external Hard drive to put picture..movies...even my xbox-game when i go to a friend..

As for the price...i'm a 15yr old student lol! so 300CND isn't that bad...but 500CND is pretty expensive(ipod photo) But i will work this summer and i can get this money....so money isn't a real problem!

By the way,Thanks for your opinions!

If you're saving up for it, I'd go ahead and go with the 60gb. Sucks paying for those as a student but I can get a discount from school on them.

Anybody have a portable media player that plays video also? Like the ones that you can record video from your TV directly to the player, and it also plays music. Just curious if anybody has one and they are worth getting? They arent much more or the same price as the photo Ipod...

PSPs dont hold NEARLY enough.iPod photos are going for only 350 now...and its' 30 gigs compared to the 4gig mini. 1000 songs will seem like enough before you get it, then after a while you will need quite a bit more space. The shuffle is pretty cool for working out(jogging, etc) though.

6GB Ipod Mini is perfect for anybody. Not too many songs to lose track of but so many that you don't know what is next when it is on shuffle. At $229.00 USD for the 6GB mini, with the school discout, it is still affordable.
