I got to play goal for the Boston Bruins alumni today! Had the usual pickup this morning, and afterward I was in the locker room, and the rink manager comes and he's like hey, you're the goalie? Yeah, I'm a goalie. And he says, the Bruins alumni team needs a goalie today, do you wanna play for them? Well yes of course. I ended up splitting the game with the guy who runs the clinic I skate at, and it was so, so much fun. People in the stands, an announcer. It was a charity game for the Dana-Farber institute and the doctors are pretty darn good, although it was clear the Bruins alumni could pretty much turn the game whichever way they were inclined. I made some decent stops and the alumni were all very nice, and I came home with the game puck. Seriously, accidentally the best Saturday ever.

If you can upgrade from 0 to 2 stars and find a helmet that fits your head as well, then I would do it. (bold, italics and underline are because someone will want to pick a fight and ignore that part)

I feel like marsblades have the boot super high off the ground

Mako M8 with marsblade: I had to put a few extra large washers because the bottom of the tnut stuck out because the mako outsole is so thin. Looks a little weird but no big deal.

ok this might sound like a dumb question, but what does thread locker do? I mean, is it meant to be permanent, or is it so it holds at a certain point, but makes sure that your bolt doesn't get stuck? I ask because I had my first few stuck bolt problems and had to dremel it out. (i use tnuts and bolts for my conversions) Would thread locker help in this case? Or would it make it even worse?

It's a good thing the helmet experts at USA Hockey, who know so much about individualized fit, would never put an entire team in the same helmet model. For those interested, the VT group already published a paper on the STAR hockey helmet rating, and it can be read for free, here: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10439-015-1278-7 Regarding fit, this section indicates to me indicates they are aware of the importance helmet fit plays with regards to not only lab testing but in real life head injuries. from page 10: The biofidelity of the impact model used for Hockey STAR was ensured through appropriate headform selection and comparison of acceleration traces with other data collected from hockey players. The NOCSAE headform was chosen because of its superior helmet fit at the base of the skull, and around the jaw, cheeks, and chin compared to that of the Hybrid III headform.11 A helmet that does not fit properly can shift on the head during tests, and if the contact area of the helmet padding with the headform varies from what is realistic, the effective stiffness of the padding will vary, potentially resulting in a mischaracterization of a helmet’s energy management capabilities.

As a guy who takes pride in the way he tapes his sticks, I have to give David some props - nice and tight and clean.
