My son Logan's picture was featured on the AHL's Instagram page. Pic was taken while we were tail gating and selling shirts to support the JDRF. https://instagram.com/p/2jK9NVr_M4/

While the ZC does use a hollow, it certainly can be made to not grab the ice, just like can be done with hollows. When I was the first shop to do ZCs in North America, I first followed the directions from Sweden, which they always recommend the shallowest hollows. My test customers were slipping all over. Swedish type sharpenings don't usually work for North American type skaters, so I made my own adjustments to give more bite. Perhaps the place you went was inexperienced in ZCs because it's not that difficult to do.

After a few months of staking on nothing but zchannels, I'll be switching back to a good old trusty FBV. It's just too much grip for me. The glide was great, and they seemed to hold an edge pretty well but I want a little give every now and then. I don't like feeling locked into the ice all the time. Switching hollows and channel depth didn't really help that. It got a little better, but now enough to make be a believer.

Ok update on the skates. I have changed out the wheels(as I knew I would) I considered changing to 76mm as I am a size seven, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. I am digging the all 80 set up. However I never did really like the HILO thing. They have been baked 2x. They are still the most comfortable skates I have had. However,as someone else mentioned, they are digging in right were the toe box meets on my right foot is. I honestly don't want to spend more cash to have them baked again, so I may just have to deal with blisters till I get a callus. I can see why people are striping axles on alkali skates. Justin do you got a torque spec. on these? Dear lord are they are Torqued down from the factory. I also dig the fact you only need one wrench for the axles. Never could find both wrenches when I needed them even though there are always about twenty of them floating around in my bag. Does anyone else put some blue lock tite on there axles? Also went to waxed laces. I could lace two sets of skates with the long laces these Skates came with. I would recommend these to anyone looking for new skates. There are already quit a few guys looking into alkali that I play with. They are die hard mission guys and their only concern is the transition form the HILO.

Talent level of the U12-U14 girls travel teams tryout was impressive, more so the 14's. Assume a bunch of girls that aged out of 12's last year and jumping at 14's(only had 12's last year). Some new talent on the 12's as well. Impressed all the way around & awesome to see the girls jumping a bit here. Maybe this is due to the tryouts being the same weekend as the boys, but huge IMO, as opposed to prior years where it was months apart. Lot of girls here that just play with the boys, as opposed to doing both. My U10 crushed the boys day one tryout, which was just before(rest to make ice) and rolled through the girls(combined), legs had to be done. Fun night, love hockey! Watching the pups is awesome, the parents are great as well. COMMUNITY

To be fair, at times this thread reads more like a diary.

No Daoust 2015 line? What the hell!? Next thing you're going to tell me is that I'm not going to be able to find Ferland mitts or blades for my Lockjaw stick. Give the people what they want, hockey manufacturers: protective equipment wrapped in hard plastic! Sincerely, The 1990s
