Leaderboard

Been looking for this for a few year. Had to pinch myself a couple times when I saw it. Seller had it flipped over with a crappy standard blade in there. Arrived today, cleaned it up, and was going to wait till weekend to remove the tenon. Could not wait, and the previous guy had cut it pretty much at the fuse point . Heated up and done in less than 2 min! Need to put an end plug in the top end, but I ain't complaining.

Speaking of built-in shot protection (tongues and quarter panels). These are the VHs my friends and I all chipped in for as a birthday gift to a buddy. He volunteer coaches 3 times a week and has been wearing the same pair of beat-up One95s since they were released. Could never afford new skates. Here's to another few years! :)

Saturday night was out last regular season game. We won 4-1, I had a shutty going until about half way into the third. The guy sniped me top blocker corner, it did glance off my shoulder though, but it was a great shot, no denying that! Our team dominated the play overall and I'm surprised we didn't have more goals than 4. A handful of easy tap ins were missed, but whatever. I stopped 18 of 19 according to the scoresheet, seemed about right. There were a few breakaways that I stuffed too. The team we played had some people on it from my Throwback Classic team, including the guy to the left of me in the pic that i posted a few days ago (african american dude). He is really fast, and has a great shot, he is the one that beat me for the goal. Early in the second he had a somewhat breakaway but I remembered he liked to shoot high, so I was ready for it, and sure enough, high snapshot to the glove side, boom, save! The "oh sh!t" moment came midway through the second where a hard shot came from just inside the top of the left side circle. It caught me in the chin (see pic below) and ended up blowing out a screw on the opposite side of the mask! Talk about energy transfer!!! Luckily I was able to find the screw and nylon spacer/washer and upon further examination, the female portion of the screw actually broke. I played the remainder of the game with only 3 of the 4 screws holding my cage in place. Playoffs start this coming Saturday, we finished in a solid 2nd place, going 10-4-1. Here is a pic of my mask, you can see where the puck nailed me in the chin.

Sang my very first (in all my choral life, since I was still a treble voice) solo this morning! I was so nervous but everyone loved it - the minister and many congregants came up to me after the service, as well as members of the choir (and folks who are far more experienced and trained singers). My choir director described it as "meaningful and moving", words I know she does not use lightly, so I am very proud of myself. Not sure if I want to do another one soon, but now I know that I could!

Today's the birthday of one of my work-kids- I don't see her regularly now she's in school, but it's break and she came in today with her brother and her friend and friend's little sister. Her mom told me that she had asked kiddo what she wanted to do, like what kind of fun thing for her birthday, and she thought for a moment and asked: "Today's Friday, right?" "Yes, it is." "Friday is Erik's day at the gym! We HAVE to go to the gym and see Erik!" That's just all kinds of cute.
