  1. i can't recall the model (it's in my parent's garage) but it's a cheesy one, probably made of particle board, with craptacular speakers. i do like ampeg bass gear but i'm not a big fan of whatever it is that i have. it was an uninformed first 'real' amp purchase heh
  2. i'm more of an amp whore than a guitar whore. thinned the guitar herd down to my one favorite, a hamer special P-90 (USA). basically a double cut les paul. as far as amps: silver face fender bassman (modified by billy zoom of X) black face fender bassman JCM 800 (50 watt, dark green tolex, limited edition small box head - looks like a JMP) w/matching slant 4x10 carvin X50B combo carvin x100b head (needs some work) no 4x12s at the moment, was desperate for money a while back and got rid of a framus with V30s, a marshall 4x12 w/the 75s, and a carvin cab. actually i've got an ampeg but it's a POS not worth using. i've also got a bassman 2x12 clone someone built for me waiting for speakers too. i think that's it for now. i've owned a few other JCM800's i've sold over the years, a rivera... i feel like there's a lot more i can't remember. blackface bassman = awesome when cranked for raw rock sounds JCM800 + boost = awesome for harder rock / punk, even older metal this thread reminded me, a 'buddy' of mine has my 18 watt marshall clone i was building. hmm.
  3. yeah, he seems to capture everyone at just the right moment. pretty sure he could make a complete beginner look great. i'm also really liking that stick, an 85 flex mission fuel. there's actually another one he took when i was taking a slapshot and the stick seriously looks like it's flexing twice that much. it's taken from behind me though, so my leg is covering part of the stick and you can't tell exactly how much it's bowed - just that it's a lot.
  4. my buddy who used to do photos of AHL teams made it to my team's game the other night. here's the two of me i liked the most: thanks jim! edit: hmm, photos are pretty small. damn you, image shack.
  5. Sam: Hey, uh, Mitch, you're really starting to like this Kathy, aren't ya? Mitch: [with a huge, smirking grin] Nooooooo. Sam: Mitch, I know you, man. When you say "no" like that, you really mean yes. Mitch: What are ya talking about? Sam: Watch, I'll show you. Mitch, uh, did you ever rob a bank? Mitch: [definitely] No. Sam: Did you ever climb Mount Everest? Mitch: [more definitely] No. Sam: Did you ever say that you can see why women find Sean Connery sexy? Mitch: [with a huge, smirking grin] Nooooooo. </dirtyworkquote>

  9. got a job at another rink - are you still keeping track of this? if so, i'll shoot you an email...
  10. we have a sharpener here in the shop who apparently went on the road with michelle kwan to take care of her skates...everyone, regardless of level, who has her sharpen their skates says she does a great job. but customers initially want to "drop them off for someone else" or will walk in, obviously wanting a sharpening, but leave without getting it done, because she's not a hockey guy.
  11. don't know if you guys are still keeping track for the voting - but at the end of the month, the rink i work at is shutting down and i'll no longer work in a pro-shop.
  12. can't comment on the difference between vapors and L7's as apparantly my memory of the vapor's fit isn't quite accurate - BUT, i'm currently in L7's and it does seem like a pretty narrow heel. the thing is, in the eastons, it felt like the back of the skate "cupped" my heel nicely, where as the L7 heel is more of a "wedge" - if that makes any sense. it still locks in pretty nicely, but i'm more comfortable in the eastons...seems more anatomically correct, hah.
  13. in the heel or forefoot? i haven't tried on vapor skates in a long time but i remember my heel moving a lot in the vapors, and it locks in nicely in eastons.
  14. do you take the laces out of the top few eyelets and really open the tongues up before taking your feet out of the skate? i have problems finding skates that lock my heels in - graf 703 was good, and easton synergy was very good.
  15. my gear at the moment (seems to be changing a lot lately) CCM vector 7.5's (SMU one step below the vector pro) jofa 9040 shins mission M-2 pants jofa jock jofa 9044 elbows jofa 8700 shoulders w/caps cut off NBH 4500 lid w/oakley modified straight small visor TPS response armor regular flex, darby pattern i tried TPS whip flex and it was too whippy, regular feels a little too stiff. i wish they made something in between! coming soon...new pair of easton synergy skates, CCM 652 helmet, and itech HC95. couldn't try the helmets on any place so i ordered em just for fun :] also looking for a 300 flex inno shaft, or otherwise i'll be back to easton/mission/bauer 85 i think.
