  1. I went from Supreme D's to Mako 2 D's in the same size.
  2. I think my ankle bones are too far back; my lateral malleolus on both sides, but especially the left side, bumps into the V groove where the tendon guard and boot meet. It's very uncomfortable when I dorsiflex and internally rotate my foot. Does anyone know or has anyone attempted to punch that spot? It doesn't seem like a spot that would be able to be punched though...
  3. Coming home from finals to see my Mako skates waiting for me, only to bake it and... it doesn't quite fit me. Heartbroken.
  4. Since you're considering weight, you'd have to consider the ice sheet as well; I'll use 1/2" or 7/16" on warm, soft ice and 7/16" or 3/8" on good, hard ice.
  5. Mate, the sun in Aussie-land ain't something to trifle with...
  6. My pair of skates took two weeks to be delivered from Canada to Portland. Worry not mate, I'm sure everything is fine.
  7. Discounted skates? The custom ones or ready made ones?
  8. Wonder if I could seek some advice. There's no possibility to try them on here, so I've resorted to asking questions and doing research. The sizing for the skate is problematic; in my Supremes, with no socks on, my toes pull away from the toe cap once i have a deep knee bend (only achieveable lacing one eyelet down, otherwise I cannot skate). However, in my hockey socks, which are actually thicker hiking socks, they still jam on the toe cap with a deep knee bend. I'm thinking of going up half a size from my Supremes since most say both skates are sized the same, and there's no way I'll ditch my thicker socks; for some reason, the bones of my feet, especially the ball of my foot, hurts when I skate, and the socks help alleviate that. The current skates I have is a 3.5D One95. I like the skate, which fit me better than the Vapor X6.0 that I had, but the pitch was never enough, even after lifting 6mm from the inside (under the heel). Thought of liftin it 3mm more on the outside, but have no expertise in doing so. In the Vapors, I had Bob give my runners a +1, and lifted under my heel about 3mm as well to get a comfortable stance. Since I won't ditch my socks, I was thinking maybe I could fit the half-size-up 4D in Makos. This could save me money if I bought the skates because the only other option to get a skate that's very similar to this is through Scott Van Horne, which is a 900 dollar investment (if I got the 3.5D VH skates) versus a 500 dollar one (the 4D being the smallest Mako skate and a junior priced one). Anyone with any thoughts at all for or against getting a Mako in 4D? P.S. for those that will tell me to profile my runners, well, that would mean buying a hole saw to drill out a hole to access the nut (my One95s came without a hole to do so), and also, I want to try new skates. I am hoping to get a skate that is all 'set' for me without giving it a fresh pitch or doing lifts.
  9. Are these sticks going to feel 'softer' than a stick of similar flex from another company? My only experience with Easton sticks is the S19; loved the stick, but it did play or at least feel like a softer flex than what it was rated at.
  10. Where'd you get the Poron foam? I'd love to get my hands on some; the girlfriend's helmet doesn't fit her head properly, some additional foam would be great. Also, any tips on removing foam? The sides are a little tight for her, while the front and back are too long.
  11. I have it on my home com, I'll see if I can post it on here later.
  12. I certainly hope some of this tech trickles down into mid-ranges skates...
  13. I see. Thanks JR. Well, since there is no Warrior store near where I live, are there any you can recommend that I can contact online?
  14. Where can I get a pair of gloves in Edmonton colours in a JR size? I tried making one on the Warrior site, but I couldn't change the colour of the cuff extension, so it's orange instead of blue.
  15. I always thought they had the same colours, at least for gloves.
  16. The Mako skates in Jr sizes are retailing at the same price as the Sr, that's crazy.
  17. Question: I'm assuming T-nuts are used on the inside of the skate. What do you use on the outside? And I suppose T-nuts have different lengths as well, so which is good to use?
  18. Sweet, give us an update about how they play and hold up, will ya? I am considering getting some blades made by them as well.
  19. Something I would like to know as well. My skates are breaking down really quickly. It's been only nine months and they are creasing quite badly.
  20. Well if you only have issues with the right side of your leg, I see no reason to wear it for your other foot. I only developed a bump on my right foot too, and only used the pad on that side. Interesting note: when I use Superfeet insoles, my problem was immediately solved. No more pressure over the bump, and it has since gone down in size.
