Hyperlite skates… live up to the hype?
lpgbackups replied to pucks_putts's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
McDavid's skates are definitely an old model but they are not a low end model by any stretch of the imagination. Connor's skates were the CCM Cadillac back in 2015 -

Hyperlite skates… live up to the hype?

Whats funny is that Connor is still skating with his original Jetspeed skates released......8 years ago! I dont know of any NHL player who still skates in a model released earlier than that and Connor is objectively the best skater and subjectively the best player of all time. -
i bought them. They look really good, cant wait to try them out.

damn..thats cold...Blackstone increased their free shipping threshold from $150 to $250.....and the regular shipping options are nonsensical , $60 to $120 😒

Tuuk RUNNERS !! LS4 vs Lightspeed Pulse Edge
lpgbackups replied to lpgbackups's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
i loved both my LS3 and LS4's -
anybody knows how these 2 are different? i dont like gimmicks, actually i cant stand gimmicks, and also, i dont like carbon which i dont think is a gimmick but i dont like it, but I like high height for my steel so im debating between the old LS4 and what i think is the newer runner thats the closest to it, so im guessing its the Tuuk Lightspeed Pulse Edge. couldnt find much info online as to how these 2 are different or if one is just replacing the other

Damn youre the real O.G. here. You really bought it as soon as it came out. As you said, the machine still looks, feels and runs like brand new even after a decade of use. The only difference is that we are more skilled sharpeners now.

Hyperlite skates… live up to the hype?

i was thinking of buying these...but the comments here are not encouraging. Anybody likes them a lot compared to Vapors of the past couple years? -
Anybody had any chance of trying to sharpen the new Ls5 blades with the X02 using the usual ruby and orange wheels? Its similar to the carbon based blackedge blade that i tried to sharpen a couple years ago but for some reason it wouldnt hold its edge more than 1 game. Maybe its because i mostly play outdoors and maybe carbon doesnt hold that kind of surface

why do you use better skates for officiating than for playing lol?
-
very nice laces
-
you have to go in rehab...its not right to spend 3 hours + on a single knob job. get some help
-
i just want to say that in the end Blackstone was very nice to me in the way that they handled my situation...very professional. Thanks!
-
ruby is for stainless steel, pink is for goalies or figure skates, orange is all around
-
Blackstone is supposed to send me 2 new Ruby wheels soon...but the thing that bugs me is that one of my wheels started failing halfway through its life.........which pretty much puts a lot of doubt in my mind because any wheel can fail at any moment...... sucks.......... i know Blackstone has known about the Ruby wheel issue for a long time...but i wish they had solved it by now......its been a while :( i dont wanna buy a wheel and then pray that it works... when Rubys' work, they work fantastic....im not too keen on going back to orange right now.
-
i know there was a recall of LS4....but i have the correct version.
-
i feel like my ruby wheels are failing more with my LS4 than they did with my LS3........i hope im dreaming.....
-
i know JR, ive been able to sharpen my LS4 with my working Ruby wheels on my X02 for a couple months without any issues, but i ran into soft ruby wheels....i had 2 left... one was midway through its life, then started failing suddenly...which i thought was really weird...then i took my last ruby wheel, and this one started failing right away... still waiting for Blackstone to send me new ones. i hope someone can confirm that orange wheels are good for LS4's.
-
meanwhile, anybody knows if orange wheels would work on a LS4 blade? i already removed enough material from my blades that im scared to try it...
-
so yeah......thanks for the replies guys...i know that their oil is not anything special but i feel good using it (placebo) as far as my wheels issue, they answered today and asked me to send them back the non working wheels for them to inspect.. so they'll probably send me 2 working ones. heading to the post office right now......thats probably gonna set me back another 10 quids..but hey...what can you do...hockey is expensive
-
i had to skip my game today because of that
-
Goddamn, i ran into another bad batch of ruby wheels....they're soft as hell, i cant make 1 single proper pass, and they make a weird loud noise while putting a huge dent in the grinding wheel and totally screwing up my blades....last time that happened to me i had to sell my ruby wheels on ebay because i thought Ruby were not meant for my kind of steel (oops..sorry to that ebayer ) apparently others had the same issue in this thread so for sure its a bad batch....ruby wheels are known for this issue. i bought 3 ruby wheels back in december of this year, the first one was fine, but the other 2 are unusable ( i just found this issue today but its way past the 30 day deadline for returns)...goddamn......will blackstone still send me new ones? i could not have detected this within 30 days unless i tried all my wheels out of the box as soon as i received them...pretty stupid if you ask me... anyways, i sent an email to blackstone. not sure what they'll say.

hey im wondering if there are any X-Series owners in the Montreal area because right now i need to buy a single $12 bottle of tef top fine shine and they want to charge me $31 for shipping which is the cheapest option. not gonna happen.. i've owned an X02 for about 5 years now and everytime i would want to buy some small items....like wheels or diamond discs, i'd wait and combine a $150 order which gets free shipping...but now i just need something small and im tired of doing $150 orders.. i thought if i knew someone in my area with the same problem, we could combine our orders. peace. I love blackstone...but their shipping options disgust me.
