I probably can't give you fully what you would like. But my son is 12 and the guy that fits his skates always recommended superfeet. Whenever I'd try to get him to try them he would say they weren't comfortable and want to get rid of them. This time around we did Bauer Aetrex Fit A insoles and he really loves them. Said they make his skates more comfortable than they've ever been. He skates a lot and never has issues with pain, even when he was on his new skates for the first time. Do them help his performance? No idea, but I'd imagine if he feels better in his skates his performance is better.
Hey gang,
My son is a peewee and I'd like to get him some cut resistant socks. I've noticed most of them are bulky and hard to put on, both of which would result in him not wearing them.
Anyone have a recommendation on cut resistant socks that aren't overly hard to put on or as tick as a Christmas sweater?
Thanks all!
My son uses them. He has tried superfeet in the past and said they were very uncomfortable. He seems to like the Aetrex. I don't think it's really helped performance or anything, seems to be more of a comfort thing, maybe I'm wrong there.
If you're getting new steel I bought steel from the hockey shop in CA, had them shipped directly to https://www.competitiveedgehockey.ca/ then he profiled and shipped to me. Went quick and with the currency conversion the price for the steel + Profile was the same as just the steel alone here.
The product releases seem very strange in the US this year, especially with Bauer who is typically a marketing machine. There has been no public release dates and really no marketing at all, not even teasers.
Total speculation on my part but I wonder if its tariff related.
I've always been a Ribcore guy, loved every one of them up until the Ribcore 8 where I think the blade feel is brutal. It was unusable for me.
Because of that I decided to give the Hockeystickman pro blackout extra lite a shot. I absolutely love it, the puck feel is very similar to the ribcores of the past. I wouldn't call them overly pingy, they have great puck feel.
I just got a prostock with a p86 Zegras. Its exactly the shape of a p92 with the p28 toe curve at the end, not sure how else to describe it.
I've heard the same about CCM making it a retail curve, I hope they do it.
They had a demo of the new scanner with the new orthotics at the Minnesota State High School hockey tournament in March. My 11 year old tried it out and I was less than impressed with the results. They have you stand on the scanner like the old version, then they have you stride across the scanner which they say scans your gait. They have like 3ish 'stock' orthotic options they fit you into based on the scan. Concept was cool, I thought the results seemed pretty generic as my son's scan came back too big/wide.
It was a pro stock blade sale. You could email them and see if they still would honor it. My guess they have a bunch of excess inventory of pro stock pulse blades their trying to unload before the new bauer holder takes over the world.
Not sure how to quantify stability from a profile. I've never really felt any more or less stable from a skate profile.
I hear you on the expense. I actually tried it because Tydan was running a sale on steel which included free profiling. I got 280 LS Pulse Ti XL edge runners with the profile and a sharpen for $69.99.
