  1. I think it's better to use something like Lock-Tight.
  2. Sorry, I couldn't realize true meaning of your post. Sorry for my poor English. If it mean as "how long had you used X8", I had used it for a year, probably. X8 was closely the same as ROH 1-3/4" and I had used it for very long time.
  3. Yes. Usually I'd used most shallowest ROH and went to BFD X8. Then after I changed to X7 but felt too large difference between X8 and X7. So I want these spinners.
  4. I've done all seeing this thread just now. And decided to choose 70/50, 80/50, 90/50, 100/50 spinners for my first FBV. My weight is 72~4kg and the ices around here usually soft. So I think I will go with 0.5mm depth firstly. I will email Mark sooner. I'm thinking someday I will buy the same 4kinds spinners in 0.75mm depth.
  5. I'm considering to buy 3~5 spinners of FBV compatible with BFD X8~7. I had sharped my skate X8 but now using X7. I felt it was better if I could choose more 1 step between X8 and X7. I heard it is said X8 or X7 compatible with 1/2~3/4" of ROH. At least now I don't want to use deep bottom, /100(1mm?) spinner. My basic feeling or liking is "shallow flat bottom and enough angle of edge". Especially the ice which near of my house is little softer. So I'm thinking to buy 100/50, 95/75, 85/100, 90/75, 95/50. How do you guys think about these choice?
  6. I've noticed that I can't find screw head on your skate. How does velcro work?
  7. Oh... so they have many of metal mold each kinds of radius option which they publish on website. Amazing. I'm wondering which contouring machine are they using. Anyway, for example if they use Bladmaster machine, Blademaster doesn't produce such combination or variation for their general line up of Custom Radius metal mold. Also Blademaster provides custom order of metal mold though, I think it must be not cheap prices... I feel I want to use the shop someday...
  8. Great! The combination 8-12' radius is just the shop have a metal mold of that or change 2 molds at half point by the hands? I want to hear how do you feel the profiling.
  9. Easton V9E custom (these I've already received last month) and Warrior Franchise glove. I much love Franchise gloves (4 sets using) but I heard Warrior decided its discontinued. So sad... Most of problem is it will be discontinued either its palm leather for replacing.
  10. I'm sorry if I misunderstood though, have you cut the outline of your custom insole smaller to solve the problem? I don't think you can solve the problem by the method... I measured my insole for you. That thickness is 2.65mm, measured with vernier micrometer. How about yours? This number is the point around foot fingers. Sorry I couldn't measure around heel because I don't have such special measurement. But this is my feeling though, I feel a part of heel is thicker than around finger area less than 1~2mm from I took the 2 points between my fingers.
  11. Hi. Definitely Sidas is thicker than the other ordinary, paperlike insoles. But I wonder is it really so thinner VH's sponge insole and red sheet combination? My insole was made by a shop person. Sidas has also produced many kinds of packaged? combination? insoles but there is a catalog which are published each parts for making custom insole. Their insole can be dismantle more than 5 parts. My insole is used craftman's choice parts for icehockey. I baked my boots and heat molded with VH's genuine insoles. Then after I changed it to custom insole and now skating. Certainly I've felt boots' inside little small, but I re-baked the boots with thicker sox. Ofcourse the craftman filed Sidas insole's bottom by belt sander. He always measured genuine insole thickness and make custom insole thickness closer to genuine's. If you can't satisfied with these methods, I think it's better to cut the same things out as genuine red sheet and do heat mold. This is for VH, now I'm using. This is for former Bauer boots. You can see the difference of parts choice.
  12. Mine is 870g https://www.flickr.com/photos/50271552@N06/14727138223/in/set-72157643823289365 Custom boots and double felt tongue, Sidas custom insole, Litespeed2 holder and Step steel with some shims. Then I have a question. So far Scott doesn't or perhaps couldn't use 3D or plaster foot mold for hockey boots making. When I asked him that you can make more better thing if I sent you my foot mold, he answered me no he can't use mold making method for these hockey boots. Has he started new making?
  13. Thank you JR, It's exactly expensive though, how do you think what 3or5 kinds of FBV spinner do you choose for similar as BFD's X8~7?
  14. I'm using Blademaster's BFD X8 sharpening for my skate long time. Yesterday I changed it to X7 for more bite but it was too big change and gap for me. BFD only have 4 kinds, X5, 6, 7 and 8. I feel this is too roughly... So I'm thinking to buy Blackstone's adapter dresser of FBV for Blademaster sharpener at my own expense. But I have a question. This MAG-75 dresser doesn't have height adjustment. I want to ask someone who have experiences to use this dresser, can it really work on the Blademaster table correctly?
  15. I'm interested in "Comfort edge" and "Single felt tongue". Now I'm using silver colored felt tongue though I've thought to choose the black colored tongue for next time. But are they not the same thing...?
  16. Sorry for the easy pic. I measured my boots. I have 262 and 272 Tuuk LS2 holder but don't have 254. The reason why I've known 254 holder have the same height as 263 is I measured it when one of my friend who using the holder came to my house. AfftonDad wrote about estimate by trigonometric function but I've already known these numbers from actual measurement. And also known actual height is bigger than estimate. For example, Tuuk 272's steel have strange lower height than the other size runner. Never found any reason why only the 272 size have been manufactured in such down size. But perhaps the manufacturing is not strictly thing as we are thinking.
  17. In the same model of holders, there is a possibility that their pitch is not the same. When I used CCM boots, I attached Tuuk's 272mm holders onto it. After CCM, I changed to Bauer boots and I decided to down its holder size to 263mm. 263 and 254mm holders have the same pitch. But 272 holder has 3mm higher heel. So now I'm using heel lift shims of 3mm thickness for my VH boots with 263 holders.
  18. I'm satisfied with 3mm heel lift shims, +2 blade pitch and racing open 1 eyelet. Also adding medial shims but this is no meanings for these talk. I race the boots with standing finally. Toward shins and make a knob at side. I've used X:60 before changing to VH though, now I feel more better.
  19. About the difference of angles of the ankle between 2 different boots, VH and Vapor, I think VH is more aggressive than Vapor. This thinking is based on their design and Scott's comment. VH's boots are designed with aggressive forward angle than the other boots but I don't know what their specifically numbers of the angle. I'm thinking I will ask Scott to add 1degree plus for angle of the ankle when I will order my new skates next year. But I don't know he really can do such this customization.
  20. Thank you Ps12, Yes, this is one of what I was looking for. But if it possible, I think it's better rather there is photo or video which was taken hockey boots because I will explain with it for shop person. Around my place, any shops don't know that method and many players skate with big opened boots. To Davetronz, Thank you for your advice, On the otherhand, I will order next VH boots 1degree plus forward. I think so too that forwarding capacity is important for hockey boots. For example in Bauer boots, it has thicker and softer sole so rivet bite it better. But thinner sole like VH or Easton is not the same. Its sole is very solid and it's difficult to bite. Of course you are right and I agree with the point that rivet is cheap and replaceable easily. But now I've stopped using suitable size rivet for preventing sole damage. I'm using long foot rivet.
  21. Hello again guys, Probably this asking is not suitable for this VH thread, but I'm so glad if there is someone who don't mind and answer me. I'm finding some pictures about "bandage" when do heat molding for boots. I want to get such pictures for explain. Certainly I saw not a single numbers of that picture on this forum but now I can't find by search. And additionally, I want to ask you that how do you feel VH's rivet loosening. Do you think VH's rivet is easily loose?
  22. So cool...! I want to ask him for next time to buy my new skates or make tongues like these black felt one. Now mines are silver colored. Then I also want to ask all of you how is the weight of your VH boots'? Mine is over 850g. Little heavy...
  23. I consulted Scott about a boots last for bow-legs. I told him that I want like these design boots for me. But he said it's difficult to make a last like that by his currently shoe making. Then he advised me a better way to oven my boots little longer than generally heat molding. But already I've done heat molding 3 times so I'm worried about its durability and solidity. And I felt it's so difficult and risky because there is a possibility that my boots can't keep its total shape if I put big power or weight when it became very soft by such long time heating. So I think to heat outside around shin and ankle only by heat gun. Then toward deep skating position and keep it until completely the boots will be cold.
