  1. Thank you JR, It's exactly expensive though, how do you think what 3or5 kinds of FBV spinner do you choose for similar as BFD's X8~7?
  2. I'm using Blademaster's BFD X8 sharpening for my skate long time. Yesterday I changed it to X7 for more bite but it was too big change and gap for me. BFD only have 4 kinds, X5, 6, 7 and 8. I feel this is too roughly... So I'm thinking to buy Blackstone's adapter dresser of FBV for Blademaster sharpener at my own expense. But I have a question. This MAG-75 dresser doesn't have height adjustment. I want to ask someone who have experiences to use this dresser, can it really work on the Blademaster table correctly?
  3. I'm interested in "Comfort edge" and "Single felt tongue". Now I'm using silver colored felt tongue though I've thought to choose the black colored tongue for next time. But are they not the same thing...?
  4. Sorry for the easy pic. I measured my boots. I have 262 and 272 Tuuk LS2 holder but don't have 254. The reason why I've known 254 holder have the same height as 263 is I measured it when one of my friend who using the holder came to my house. AfftonDad wrote about estimate by trigonometric function but I've already known these numbers from actual measurement. And also known actual height is bigger than estimate. For example, Tuuk 272's steel have strange lower height than the other size runner. Never found any reason why only the 272 size have been manufactured in such down size. But perhaps the manufacturing is not strictly thing as we are thinking.
  5. In the same model of holders, there is a possibility that their pitch is not the same. When I used CCM boots, I attached Tuuk's 272mm holders onto it. After CCM, I changed to Bauer boots and I decided to down its holder size to 263mm. 263 and 254mm holders have the same pitch. But 272 holder has 3mm higher heel. So now I'm using heel lift shims of 3mm thickness for my VH boots with 263 holders.
  6. I'm satisfied with 3mm heel lift shims, +2 blade pitch and racing open 1 eyelet. Also adding medial shims but this is no meanings for these talk. I race the boots with standing finally. Toward shins and make a knob at side. I've used X:60 before changing to VH though, now I feel more better.
  7. About the difference of angles of the ankle between 2 different boots, VH and Vapor, I think VH is more aggressive than Vapor. This thinking is based on their design and Scott's comment. VH's boots are designed with aggressive forward angle than the other boots but I don't know what their specifically numbers of the angle. I'm thinking I will ask Scott to add 1degree plus for angle of the ankle when I will order my new skates next year. But I don't know he really can do such this customization.
  8. Thank you Ps12, Yes, this is one of what I was looking for. But if it possible, I think it's better rather there is photo or video which was taken hockey boots because I will explain with it for shop person. Around my place, any shops don't know that method and many players skate with big opened boots. To Davetronz, Thank you for your advice, On the otherhand, I will order next VH boots 1degree plus forward. I think so too that forwarding capacity is important for hockey boots. For example in Bauer boots, it has thicker and softer sole so rivet bite it better. But thinner sole like VH or Easton is not the same. Its sole is very solid and it's difficult to bite. Of course you are right and I agree with the point that rivet is cheap and replaceable easily. But now I've stopped using suitable size rivet for preventing sole damage. I'm using long foot rivet.
  9. Hello again guys, Probably this asking is not suitable for this VH thread, but I'm so glad if there is someone who don't mind and answer me. I'm finding some pictures about "bandage" when do heat molding for boots. I want to get such pictures for explain. Certainly I saw not a single numbers of that picture on this forum but now I can't find by search. And additionally, I want to ask you that how do you feel VH's rivet loosening. Do you think VH's rivet is easily loose?
  10. So cool...! I want to ask him for next time to buy my new skates or make tongues like these black felt one. Now mines are silver colored. Then I also want to ask all of you how is the weight of your VH boots'? Mine is over 850g. Little heavy...
  11. I consulted Scott about a boots last for bow-legs. I told him that I want like these design boots for me. But he said it's difficult to make a last like that by his currently shoe making. Then he advised me a better way to oven my boots little longer than generally heat molding. But already I've done heat molding 3 times so I'm worried about its durability and solidity. And I felt it's so difficult and risky because there is a possibility that my boots can't keep its total shape if I put big power or weight when it became very soft by such long time heating. So I think to heat outside around shin and ankle only by heat gun. Then toward deep skating position and keep it until completely the boots will be cold.
  12. Sorry I can't say better in English for I want to... But I want to make sure about your "pitch". Pitch is including some factors. I have not thought about boots' arch much more since I had chosen custom insoles. Then I think Scott's boots have deep angle for ankle. So... how do you say what about? ("angle of ankle", is this not wrong? I feel something like saying boring pun...) And I'm thinking that most of your feeling about "pitch" depend on the revelation difference of holder.
  13. When go to shooting block with standing, often we get a puck at toe though, I didn't feel nothing wearing VH boots. This is truth. I don't know it's construction or reason why VH boots effect such great toughness, but this is a fact.
  14. No, I didn't ask him about contour. I ordered him boots only so I attached holders and runners and contoured in a shop near my house. I don't know whether he have contouring machine for hockey...
  15. I went to free skate with a friend yesterday. The friend was using Bauer boots and laced it up with full eyelet. I've laced my boots without top eyelet because I've felt general boots' construction is too upright for my skating and ankle. But yesterday I thought to try full lacing up. I felt so good. MLX, Mako or our VH boots are designed deep angle of ankle. So probably I didn't feel not better. But my legs are bow shaped so feel pain around shin between tongue.
  16. I don't know detail of the problem. So I'm glad if someone can consider about that with my pics. Then this is just my thinking though, if we regard that Davetronz's thinking is correct, the construction is too weak for hockey boots. I was thinking that it might decrease the number of the problem if the tendon guard received our power in flex. But if it has coursed by out power or damage for example you get a puck to your boot from side or back, there is no relation between the broken problem and flexing tendon guard. By the way, I re-baked my skates today for changing tongue. from cut genuine to custom thicker felt one. I feel so better. Also changed laces from 96" to 84". Contoured again by Blademaster's Custom Radius, moved center point 2mm back, same 13' radius and +2 pitch. Total 870g/one side. This is back.
  17. Yes, it seems attached the same method as genuine tendon guard. But I don't have experience that tendon guard broken so I really hard to say its durable because I don't know the reason or mechanism of that. Though as already I wrote, I think this flexible tendon guard have a certainly possible to solve the problem for the reason.
  18. here is a pic. Definitely, if the broke reason what you guys' tendon guard were too solid to receive your ankle turning power, this flexible guard may be a better idea to solve the problem. But Mako's tendon guard is more silky back move.
  19. Have you ever seen any skates which have flexible tendon guard? Easton's Mako... or now we can see the similar feature in some models of Bauer's. OK, I will take a pic and post on this topic.
  20. I replaced it from genuine to flexible one. It is not softer as I thought though certainly move to back.
  21. Actually, I thought nothing have changed seemingly from normal tendon guard to this flexible one. And I felt it's not softer than Mako's. Also I realized that we have to change the form from more bottom area of heel if want to achieve more kicking amount of ankle.
  22. I already bought this over 2months over though finally finished all customizations so post a pic. Really amazing skates. No need any words for these boots.
  23. Finally I completed tuning. Boots... VH Footwear custom with flexible tendon guard Tongues... cut off VH's genuine tongue around toe box and top Holders... Tuuk Lightspeed2 263 Edges... Step Steel V-Speed XL Shoelaces... nowaxed 96" Insoles... Sidas Conformable Contouring... 13' radius, +1 pitch and slide center point 1mm forward by Blademaster machine Sharpening... BFD X7 Shims... 3mm heel lift shim and 2+1mm medial side shim If I want more than this, I may keep them when I will order new skates for me, probably 1or2 years after.
