  1. If you use a ProSharp you can leave the steel in the machine to blend the toe and heel, it doesn't need to be done by hand. It does, however, require the machine operator to know how to do this. Personally, if you have steel that you feel comfortable on you are much better off having someone copy that profile to your new steel. This is also easily accomplished with a ProSharp and a professional.
  2. I think its a little more advanced than things like Bladetape and such. Chara seems to be using it too. I dont recall the other companies having any professionals using their stuff ever.
  3. You can just swap it in and go. If you want to be very thorough you can just bake the tongue in the oven for 4 min, attach it to the skate, and lace the skates up and wait for the tongue to cool down.
  4. I have never seen the metatarsal tongue in person and we have never had a player order it. We have had quite a few people order the t-guard tongue, including myself, but I really prefer the new standard thin tongue. My understanding is with the metatarsal tongue the plastic is inside the fabric and with the t-guard it's external.
  5. Has anyone tried this? https://rezztek.com/
  6. Yeah, I am wondering the same as well. Don't get me wrong, I love my TRUE skates but if you found something that works well for you why change things?
  7. From Seattle to Vancouver isn't that far of a drive 😉 We tend to have staff go to the white north every month or so to grab some items from Lowry and other brands to save on shipping costs. Recently we had to head to Vancouver to pick up 50 cases of pucks! The downside is dealing with customs when coming back into the US.
  8. Looks like Gaudreau is also on the hybrid kick point bandwagon
  9. I use Flare with a Quad 1 profile and love it. While the regular flare 10' is good for most I need the forward pitch and the longer radius in the middle/heel. We have done a ton profiles on Flare steel. I should note, on standard Flare (10' profile) I used a 1" ROH and after I profiled it I changed to a 1.5" ROH
  10. Your height/weight combination are a good example of why the previous "method" of calculating "half the flex for your weight" is a terrible method. For you it would suggest a 85-90 flex stick but with your height and how much you likely need to cut your sticks that would make them nearly impossible to load. I use a very short stick, for someone who is nearly 5' 11" and 180 lbs. I have always wanted to use a longer stick as my release with a longer stick is significantly more powerful and accurate. The downside is my stickhandling is a disaster with a longer stick though and I would rather be able to pass, stick handle, and feel confident on my stick as compared to having a harder shot.
  11. We all know hockey is a game of inches and milliseconds. There was a presentation I saw recently talking about how 3% increase in puck speed, when less than 10M from net, can result in a goal vs a save. I redacted the slide so I could share it. In talking to many of the manufacturers over the last week each one of them made a very similar and useful point. NHL players are incredibly strong compared to the majority of us, and as such a low kick stick that is easy to load would likely cause too much deflection in their shot, simply due to how powerful they are. This was something I didn't take into consideration. I thought about weight, but I didn't think about overall strength. I weigh ~180lbs but I dont nearly have the same strength as Nikita Kucherov or Mitch Marner who weigh 170lbs and uses a mid kick stick.
  12. I am trying to keep it simple as possible. Too many questions and people tend to get annoyed and will provide incorrect info or won't even complete the form. I have found over time the "sweet spot" for collecting data via forms is around the 20-30 second range of time needed to complete the entire questionnaire from start to finish. After this one is done, I will try a V2 of it and see how that goes.
  13. I am doing a survey on Reddit, currently have 100 responses. I think the data is very interesting. Lots of players using low and mid kick sticks and very few using variable and high kick sticks. https://netorgft3775772-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/nicholas_skateworksproshop_com/EdT_YsfCxRpLqMHBDZFlGloBnJVT6SM6jtcU_xemDPH3gg?e=khgSm0
  14. You could ruin the profile if the grinding ring engages the steel too early as its then removing material from areas that should not be sharpened.
  15. I dig the helmet but unfortunately I am in between a small and a medium. The small with even the smallest pads is too tight and the medium with the biggest pads is too loose. This seems to always be the case though with helmets, I must have a strange shaped head or something as finding a helmet that fits me perfectly, other than an E700, seems nearly impossible. Every helmet I have ever owned I either had to cut padding out of or add padding to. Its beyond annoying.
  16. That's really tough to say, Unless you know the very specifications they have selected it would basically be guessing. I know this much, many of the pros using the Supreme 2S aren't using the blade with the "renew core" technology. Usually pro stock sticks are a hodgepodge of different specifications and the entire stick is made of bits and pieces of various stick technologies. With retail, the manufacturer has assembled what they feel is best for the average player vs the player dictating what they feel works best for themselves.
  17. This is correct. The customer should not have to be doing all of the leg work. The retailer should be talking to TRUE, specifically their rep and the TRUE skate support group, to get this resolved. Who at TRUE have you been talking to?
  18. Most players do not prefer super stiff blades. In fact, with Bauer, the 2N Pro blade , which has a lightweight, stiff foam core with a thick dampening layer is the #1 Bauer blade in the NHL. Apparently they claim its for versatile players that like to handle the puck and be able to shoot in any situation. This makes sense considering how hard NHL players passses are. You wouldn't want a ridiculously stuff blade as it would make it difficult to catch passes and also take one-time shots as well.
  19. They only report what the graphic is, not what the actual stick is. For example, they list Kane as using a Flylite and he uses a Supreme.
  20. I really like these helmets but I am in between a small and a medium. Regardless of the padding options the helmet is either too small or too loose for me. I was really bummed about this as I am currently stuck wearing a Re-Akt 95, which fits me decent but is a bit hot. I loved the E700 and when my very last one failed I was quite sad. Soon as I saw these I figured they would be a solid replacement for the E700. The only other helmet that kind of fits me is the Warrior Alpha, but it sits high on my head and feels goofy.
  21. As I am watching all of the highlights from yesterday's games I noticed many forwards, most recognized for getting off quick shots, fast release, are all seemingly using sticks that are not in fact low kick. For example, Barzal and McDavid use Tacks. We all know Kane uses a Supreme wrapped as a Vapor, but many others such as Kucherov, Pasta, Marner, and such all use a medium/variable kick stick. I know Crosby and Mackinnon use a low kick, RIbcor, but it seems many players are moving away from low kick point sticks to either a mid/hybrid kick point (Nexus/Alpha/JetSpeed) or a higher kick point, such as Nylander, Barzal and such. So, that makes me wonder. How many players are using low kick sticks when they really should be using a mid, variable, or stick with a higher kick point?
