  1. Yup. We have that. The main issue is the structural integrity of the cap is diminished when you heat and punch it as you are technically warping it. Do you have like a bunion or something on your toe rubbing? Crooked toe? I am trying to understand whats hitting.
  2. Crazy. I didn't even notice until the game the other day. These pros swapping sticks so often is very strange to me.
  3. Thats a tough spot to modify, heat changes the composition of the toe box and can weaken it and its not really possible to "punch it" without heat. You may want to try and take a dremel and see if you can shave off a little of the inside of the to cap. Proceed at our own risk.
  4. I have been testing this blade and love it. I think its going to quickly become the new "go to" pattern to replace the P92/P29.
  5. I agree, this dude was certifiable for sure. I personally have not seen such a large personal collection of knives and swords in my life time. I felt like he could have been the main villain in a Jame Bond movie. lol
  6. I think those can be aligned without having to drill new rivet holes if they know what they are doing.
  7. Comparing the specific forces applied to a knife or sword vs a hockey skate blade are entirely different. But yes, I agree, knife people do know their stuff. The best skate sharpener I have ever known was also a huge knife and sword collector as well.
  8. I bet his equipment manager loves dealing with all of his constant changes. Lol
  9. Yeah, this confused me a well. There is absolutely such a thing as too hard. I think most of us have seen some others manufactured steel that would easily snap under load 😉
  10. The shop doing the order needs to request it specifically for you.
  11. I'm kinda the same. A 14" fits well everywhere but length and a 13" doesn't wrap around my calf properly. I usually just go with a 14" and modify the shin and liner. I like to go under the tongue and don't like my shin to interfere with the cuff on my skate boot.
  12. The AX9 is more of a low kick hybrid than a ridiculously low kick point like a QRE or similar. IMO, those sticks are too one dimensional. The release on the AX9 is something wicked. Very low effort to get off a fast, accurate and hard shot. If anything, I would say the AX9 is like a blend of a FT2 + 1X Lite + Alpha DX.
  13. My understanding is this was before they had the same technology released in the Supreme line, they are now stamping them differently.
  14. Does your local Pure Hockey store use a ProSharp?
  15. ADV construction with Supreme shaft shape.
  16. It seems very possible. Bauer has partnered heavily with ProSharp so I can imagine CCM might be looking to find an way into the sharpening market without having to buy out a big company. Sparx would fit perfectly into that category. Also, I noticed a while ago that a lot of CCM reps also do sales for Sparx as well.
  17. If you dont block a lot of shots they are fine. They are very light and great for forwards. They also dont soak up and water so they stay light through gameplay.
  18. D3O is actually very dense and heavy which is why it's used very sparingly in protective gear in mainly the critical areas. How thick are you wanting to go with this foam? There are Volara 2LB and 4LB materials which are both rated to be nonirritant for primary skin irritation. Volara: https://www.thefoamfactory.com/closedcellfoam/volara-foam.html There are also other softer Closed Cell foam types including 2LB Cross-Linked Polyethylene, Neoprene High Quality, and Minicel T200, T300. Closed Cell Foam: https://www.thefoamfactory.com/closedcellfoam/closedcellfoam.html They are nice, a little wide though and not as form-fitting which I prefer.
  19. My understanding is the offering for shorter steel might be phased out soon. Any idea if that is true?
  20. They have a lot of big things going on right now so production times and warranty stuff is a little backed up.
  21. Tydan uses Sandvik co.'s 12C27 steel which I believe is the same as STEP. IMO, they are both the same quality of steel and where they specifically differ in the shape of their steel and the fact that Tydan offers a few more options than STEP such as coating, polished steel, and also shorter steel for those that dont want super tall steel.
  22. Has anyone ever determined how to disassemble a Sparx ring? We got a new batch in the mail and one of them cannot be read by the machine at all. It just gives an error message. When I scan it with a Mifare NFC reader the data seems corrupt when compared to other rings. I want to take the backing off another ring and swap it over but cannot seem to find out how the rings disassemble the ring. This is what the data on a good ring looks like: The other ring just gives an error and says the data is corrupted.
