I had a few people ask for pics of the SHIFT holder, specifically to see the mechanism. Here ya go. -
Look at this skate tongue too. It's super thin. Based on his playing style he probably is willing to sacrifice some protection for flexibility and weight savings.

Looks like Structure has released a new camera so I imagine scanning is going to take another leap forward and become even better IF TRUE rolls these out. https://structure.io/structure-sensor/mark-ii -

The facing was cut back 3mm as it allows for slightly better forward flex as the boot doesn't wrap as tightly. I also had the skates made with a slighter shorter ankle, 5mm. TRUE has always done their very best to meet the needs of a consumer, but the consumer and store need to work together to specifically dictate what is wanted. This means providing specifications, modifications, and as much detail as possible. In my experience, there is no such thing as providing too much information. -
Suggestions for low profile short elbow pads?
VegasHockey replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
The CCM QLT elbow pads were the best option. Lightweight, flexible, and they dont interfere with my glove cuff. The STX RX3 was nice, but I didn't really like the 360 strapping system very much and the elbow pads kept shifting making them uncomfortable. -

For me the Super Feet took up too much volume and ruined the feel of the skate. They also pitched me too far forward, but I do use profiled steel so that is expected. I also couldn't feel my edges as well with them compared to the Speed Plate -

They use your current skate information to help determine how you like your skates to fit. Some people hate their toes being smashed into the tow of the skate while others prefer no negative space at all. This should be noted by your fitter. They always reply to my emails and my customer's emails. Not sure which email address you are sending to?. The SHIFT holder is symmetrical, the right is the same as the left. No other holder on the market is designed this way. No other holder can be swapped in place of it. You would need to drill out all new holes. If you want to change holders to the XS, LSE, or anything else, specify this and dont have them install the SHIFT holder. -
Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener
VegasHockey replied to tamtamg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I have a buddy who owns a store and he is getting out of the hockey business to pursue other endeavors and he is selling a Sparx machine that is only a few months old, under warranty and comes with a ton of goodies. If you're interested I can pass along your info and he can email you. Not sure what he is asking for the unit but it's a fair assumption it would be considerably less than retail and would include a bunch of rings and an edge checker. -

I can tell you about them and share pics. Not sure what specifics you're looking for? They dont do a good job going into detail about the specific at the retail level. Thats why we carry all of the different options in-store, so people can see and touch them in person. The new tongue is lighter than the others, has more forward flex, doesn't absorb water and doesn't break down like felt. I am kind of shocked its taken this long for manufacturers to start using options other than felt as standard as I have never been a big fan of felt tongues. -

Some shops, like ours, have tongues in stock. What model are you looking for? -

I think depending on your foot shape and skate size some people can use powerfoot and others cannot. I use them in my skates as I have very low profile toes. Even with the tongue pushed in I still have wiggle room and I like my toes to be locked in. -

I should have just said strech wrap. -

I would bake them again and do the proper method of saran wrap. There is a significant difference in fit between that and the standard "bake and lace" method. In fact, we do the saran wrap method on ALL skates we sell regardless of brand. If you still cannot get the ideal heel lock, look into using ratchet clamps. -

How to specify the heel/toe shape of skate blades?
VegasHockey replied to dsizzle's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
There are a few issues here: * You are transitioning from an older pair of skates that are much more pliable, which I assume is letting you get better forward flexion as compared to the extremely stiff 2S Pro skates. Are you lacing them all the way up? You might want to drop the top one or two eyelets so you can properly get over the ball of your foot. * Your old steel is likely very worn and likely an 8' or less profile, very shaved on the toe and heel. More on the whichever side is pushed into the wheel first when they get sharpened. * The new steel is a 10' flat profile as compared to what you are using to skating on. Its possible your old skates likely feel like skis and your new skates likely feel like you're riding a snowboard. However, if you adjust the body mechanics you might actually see the benefits of a longer radius. * If you make these changes and still feel like you are "stuck in mud" when skating you may want to consider going with a flatter hollow. If that doesn't make things better you should look into getting your steel professionally profiled. You can either have the profile matched from your old skates or you can select a new profile. I highly recommend a combination radius but if you want a single radius that is fine as well. *Lastly, add pitch, if needed. If you feel too far back on your heels or neutral.
