Looks like Gaudreau is also on the hybrid kick point bandwagon
-
I use Flare with a Quad 1 profile and love it. While the regular flare 10' is good for most I need the forward pitch and the longer radius in the middle/heel. We have done a ton profiles on Flare steel. I should note, on standard Flare (10' profile) I used a 1" ROH and after I profiled it I changed to a 1.5" ROH

Your height/weight combination are a good example of why the previous "method" of calculating "half the flex for your weight" is a terrible method. For you it would suggest a 85-90 flex stick but with your height and how much you likely need to cut your sticks that would make them nearly impossible to load. I use a very short stick, for someone who is nearly 5' 11" and 180 lbs. I have always wanted to use a longer stick as my release with a longer stick is significantly more powerful and accurate. The downside is my stickhandling is a disaster with a longer stick though and I would rather be able to pass, stick handle, and feel confident on my stick as compared to having a harder shot.

Ive been using one of these so it allows me to mss with length on the fly. It does add a little weight though, which is expected. https://www.thehockeyshop.com/products/butt-end-blue-adjustick-comp At this point I think I have gone ful circle and am back at where I started. A short stick. I would rather give up some power when shooting to have better control and more leverage with a shorter stick. Ive already dropped to a flex point that I dont think can really go much lower. I am using a 68 flex, with a stick length of 56", but the low flex really makes puck battles along the boards, faceoffs, and receiving hard passes a pain in the butt. Also, taking a one-time shot many times results in a muffin of a shot if I don't hit the puck square on. I scored a goal today off a one-time shot and it was a muffin to. the max and it looked hilarious.... but it did go in 😉 I'll keep messing around and see if I can find the right combination.

Suggestions for low profile short elbow pads?
VegasHockey replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Which model of the Stallion? Thanks!Ill take a peek online and see if I can find a set. Thanks! -
I think I have tried every elbow pad on the market (exaggeration) and they all interfere, come into contact, with my glove cuff which drives me bonkers. I am trying to find something that is low profile, has decent protection, and is somewhat short so it doesn't extend into the glove cuff. I currently use Supreme 2S Pro gloves. Suggestions?

I asked my wife that and she told me if I messed with the pool I would need to buy a second home....... for me to live in. lol

We all know hockey is a game of inches and milliseconds. There was a presentation I saw recently talking about how 3% increase in puck speed, when less than 10M from net, can result in a goal vs a save. I redacted the slide so I could share it. In talking to many of the manufacturers over the last week each one of them made a very similar and useful point. NHL players are incredibly strong compared to the majority of us, and as such a low kick stick that is easy to load would likely cause too much deflection in their shot, simply due to how powerful they are. This was something I didn't take into consideration. I thought about weight, but I didn't think about overall strength. I weigh ~180lbs but I dont nearly have the same strength as Nikita Kucherov or Mitch Marner who weigh 170lbs and uses a mid kick stick.

I am trying to keep it simple as possible. Too many questions and people tend to get annoyed and will provide incorrect info or won't even complete the form. I have found over time the "sweet spot" for collecting data via forms is around the 20-30 second range of time needed to complete the entire questionnaire from start to finish. After this one is done, I will try a V2 of it and see how that goes.

I dont see bigger panels? Just the little square ones and the main downside to their product is there tiles are not reversible. It seems many other companies tiles can be reversed as they wear. https://www.hockeyshot.com/Revolution-Synthetic-Ice-Tiles-p/revolution-tiles.htm

Anyone who is passing through Scottsdale AZ is always welcome to stay. We have plenty of space, extra bedrooms and such.

I am doing a survey on Reddit, currently have 100 responses. I think the data is very interesting. Lots of players using low and mid kick sticks and very few using variable and high kick sticks. https://netorgft3775772-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/nicholas_skateworksproshop_com/EdT_YsfCxRpLqMHBDZFlGloBnJVT6SM6jtcU_xemDPH3gg?e=khgSm0

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener
VegasHockey replied to tamtamg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
You could ruin the profile if the grinding ring engages the steel too early as its then removing material from areas that should not be sharpened. -
Even if it's not ideal, I would rather have synthetic ice so I can shoot while wearing skates instead of shooting on dryland tiles.

The toe cap design of the new Vapor is actual more roomy in width than the previous models. The depth is less though.
-
I have a foot that fits between a E/A Vapor and a D/A Supreme, hence why I can fit into both decently. I would say the Supreme gives me a tighter and more responsive fit but the Vapor overall has a better feel. Its more flexible and I like the new toe cap design as it gives me a little more room than the standard toe cap in the Supreme. The Supreme while having the better overall fit of the two is more stiff and rigid and I prefer the flexible fit of the Vapor. Does that make sense?

Trigger 4 Pro shaft design.

Yes. Skated in both. Like the fit of the 2S but prefer the performance of the 2X.

I dig the helmet but unfortunately I am in between a small and a medium. The small with even the smallest pads is too tight and the medium with the biggest pads is too loose. This seems to always be the case though with helmets, I must have a strange shaped head or something as finding a helmet that fits me perfectly, other than an E700, seems nearly impossible. Every helmet I have ever owned I either had to cut padding out of or add padding to. Its beyond annoying.

I am looking at finishing my backyard shooting rink. I will be building a small sitting area for storing pucks, hockey sticks, training aids, incorporated with a bench so players can sit when putting on their skates and for storing their person items when using the shooting rink. I will also be installing 5ft tall boards with metal poles and netting , these boards will help keep the pucks from flying into the pool all the time. The last thing I want is to get hit by a puck when hanging out in the pool or having to fish pucks out of the pool all the time. lol As I look at all of the options for synthetic ice I am quickly becoming overwhelmed and other than reading that I want to select oil infused uhmwpe I cannot really find any decent information on who makes good products. I figured I would ask if anyone currently own synthetic ice or if anyone training on synthetic ice and if there are certain brands that are better than others in regards to performance, durability, and price. The surface is roughly 12ft x 38ft.

That's really tough to say, Unless you know the very specifications they have selected it would basically be guessing. I know this much, many of the pros using the Supreme 2S aren't using the blade with the "renew core" technology. Usually pro stock sticks are a hodgepodge of different specifications and the entire stick is made of bits and pieces of various stick technologies. With retail, the manufacturer has assembled what they feel is best for the average player vs the player dictating what they feel works best for themselves.
-
They decided to go with a more flexible facing to enhance the forward range of motion. Apparently they found the injected eyelets were better at promoting side-to-side movements due to the enhance lateral support. This would obviously be better on a Vapor than a Supreme skate. Agreed.

VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne
VegasHockey replied to dsjunior1388's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
This is correct. The customer should not have to be doing all of the leg work. The retailer should be talking to TRUE, specifically their rep and the TRUE skate support group, to get this resolved. Who at TRUE have you been talking to?
