  1. Had a chance to tinker with a pro stock Bauer ADV wrapped as a 1X Lite and the first thing I noticed was it didn't weight the same as an ADV and felt heavier, it was very apparent as soon as I picked it up. I weighed it and uncut 64", without tape, it tipped the scale at 410 grams. Significantly heavier than an ADV. This doesn't seem normal? I know for sure it's an ADV as I got it from a Bauer Rep and it has the BGP2P code and the ADV green marking on the lower part of the stick. What gives? I know some pro stock sticks can vary in weight (up or down) depending on the blade the player uses and such, but 60 grams difference is significant.
  2. Diamond wheels on the SkatePal, and we are using custom 80 grit Ruby wheels on the AS units. While I like the idea of having more SkatePal units the cost for a machine that is not going to be constantly used outweighs the overall value. Hence why I was considering Sparx units.
  3. I would like to know who here owns or works at a Pro Shop that uses Sparx? We are looking at adding a few machines to our lineup when the season is busy or during tournaments and they keep pushing us toward the PS units but the volume is so low I think the ES unit makes more sense. We are looking at maybe 60 sharpens a month on two machines, so 30 per machine. I don't see why we would need or want a PS unit...? We currently have 3 ProSharp machines, and an older triple head BladeMaster. The main issue with the BladeMaster is the younger kids aren't reliable enough to sharpen by hand so I am trying to find a better alternative.
  4. You can use some extra strength goof off on a rag. That should take it off without damaging the plastic toe cap. As with everything, test a small area first.
  5. What did you want to know about it?
  6. Massive Blade TIN for Tuuk LS Edge.
  7. But the IMS 9.0 I wear a small size, in a standard Re-Akt 75/95/150/200 I wear a medium.
  8. I agree, the XS is currently my favorite holder but if these are as rigid and durable as promised I might be swayed to using them on skates other than my TRUE. I do wonder with how short the steel is, if it will break. I had this happen today...
  9. Here ya go. New holder, steel, tongue, and 6K carbon weave.
  10. Good point, not sure about the durability and such. You are likely correct about the inability to service them. Also, I doubt they will make aftermarket steel an option anytime soon, if ever, so those players who prefer to use Flare or something other than STEP, are left behind. I wish everyone switched to a symmetrical design. It just seems silly to have left and right holders.
  11. Does anyone have one of these or have seen one? I am interested in how they fit compared to a standard Re-Akt helmet. I assume a small likely fits more like a medium? Thanks! Example:
  12. These guys sell overseas: https://www.nordichockey.com/ On a new runner with DLC, I would imagine at least 10 full passes to get a nice clean edge.
  13. STEP DLC (Black) is usually very consistent, as are most other brands of DLC steel such as Tydan and Massive. Bauer LS5 is much more consistent than the previous LS4/3/2 but not nearly as consistent as most other major steel manufacturers. Sparx seems to sharpen DLC steel fine, though you may need a few more passes the first time sharpening as compared to standard stainless or polished steel to cut through the DLC coating. I would usually recommend getting any DLC steel first sharpened at a pro shop so you don't introduce unnecessary wear on your Sparx griding ring.
  14. To each their own. I prefer short cuffs, almost no cuff at all.
  15. If you dont mind me asking, where did you get them from?
  16. They do not. Just a standard 10ft radius,
  17. The RE-AKT 200 and FL500 were both too bulky and hot to wear for extended periods of time. Especially that damn FL500. It was like wearing a bowling ball lined with foam on your head. It weighed a ton and was so hot all I can remember when wearing it was an endless supply of sweat pouring down my face.
  18. I personally miss the nut/screw that hed the tongues in as compared to velcro.
