  1. I think I have tried every elbow pad on the market (exaggeration) and they all interfere, come into contact, with my glove cuff which drives me bonkers. I am trying to find something that is low profile, has decent protection, and is somewhat short so it doesn't extend into the glove cuff. I currently use Supreme 2S Pro gloves. Suggestions?
  2. Have any pics of the finished product?
  3. I asked my wife that and she told me if I messed with the pool I would need to buy a second home....... for me to live in. lol
  4. Yes, it's the stiffest and lightest blade Bauer makes. X-Stiff: Bauer’s lightest blade with an extremely stiff foam core. Maximizes the pop of the puck (release speed) off the blade when shooting. Puck control may be more difficult. (ADV) Stiff: Lightweight, stiff foam core with a thin dampening layer. Gives a quick release with added features to help with puck feel. This core releases the puck quickly rather than maximizing energy into the puck. (FLyLite) Medium: A lightweight, stiff foam core with a thick dampening layer. #1 Bauer blade in the NHL. For versatile players that like to handle the puck and be able to shoot in any situation. (2N Pro) Soft: A mid-weight, softer blade core with thin dampening layer. Designed for players that focus on puck feel and stick-handling. Slightly heavier than stiff blades. X-Soft: Mid-weight, softer blade core designed to hold the puck to the blade to maximize the transfer of energy for harder shots. Contains a pressurized gel that fills cracks to prolong the life of the blade. Slightly heavier than stiff blades. (2S Pro)
  5. Man, that would drive me nuts. There has to be more than a single guy in your area that sharpens though, right? The good news is with Flare you don't have to sharpen them often. You could probably get away with getting two sets and just sending them out. I would sharpen them for you for free. lol
  6. They would sharpen them just the same as any other steel. You can even do it on a Sparx.
  7. We all know hockey is a game of inches and milliseconds. There was a presentation I saw recently talking about how 3% increase in puck speed, when less than 10M from net, can result in a goal vs a save. I redacted the slide so I could share it. In talking to many of the manufacturers over the last week each one of them made a very similar and useful point. NHL players are incredibly strong compared to the majority of us, and as such a low kick stick that is easy to load would likely cause too much deflection in their shot, simply due to how powerful they are. This was something I didn't take into consideration. I thought about weight, but I didn't think about overall strength. I weigh ~180lbs but I dont nearly have the same strength as Nikita Kucherov or Mitch Marner who weigh 170lbs and uses a mid kick stick.
  8. While I think the quality of their steel (BladeTech) is fantastic, especially the DLC coated blades, I didn't "feel" anything at all when I used them. Same with customers who we ordered them for. The steel does sharpen amazing and hold a great edge though but it's a little heavy. If the price was less than competitors I would carry them in store. I would highly recommend Flare steel. They work amazing for outdoor ice. https://flareskateblade.com/
  9. Players was saying one skate felt drastically different than the other. He just had mailed out his steel to be profiled so he was convinced it had to be some other issue.... Maybe a crooked holder or something else. Can you spot the problem?
  10. I am trying to keep it simple as possible. Too many questions and people tend to get annoyed and will provide incorrect info or won't even complete the form. I have found over time the "sweet spot" for collecting data via forms is around the 20-30 second range of time needed to complete the entire questionnaire from start to finish. After this one is done, I will try a V2 of it and see how that goes.
  11. I dont see bigger panels? Just the little square ones and the main downside to their product is there tiles are not reversible. It seems many other companies tiles can be reversed as they wear. https://www.hockeyshot.com/Revolution-Synthetic-Ice-Tiles-p/revolution-tiles.htm
  12. Anyone who is passing through Scottsdale AZ is always welcome to stay. We have plenty of space, extra bedrooms and such.
  13. BladeTech has been around for quite a long time. The idea is similar in a way but not exactly the same. Marsblade is basically building a suspension into the holder allowing the steel to shift with the weight of the player. They control the movement with a carbon fibre torsion bar that's installed into the holder. The stiffness of it and the range of motion are all adjustable. BladeTech is instead introducing steel that allows movement, the steel runner can "flex up" into the holder and which can provide a bit of leverage, decrease impact force, and in theory it will "spring back" releasing stored energy. IMO, these are both very much version 1.0 products. They both have good ideas on paper, but there is design flaws in both currently when you are playing at a very high level of hockey. I imagine Marsblade will be releasing a new version in the next 12 months that will be significantly lighter and more simple in design, and it will allow for greater movement. Currently only the heel of the holders technically have "motion."
  14. I am doing a survey on Reddit, currently have 100 responses. I think the data is very interesting. Lots of players using low and mid kick sticks and very few using variable and high kick sticks. https://netorgft3775772-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/nicholas_skateworksproshop_com/EdT_YsfCxRpLqMHBDZFlGloBnJVT6SM6jtcU_xemDPH3gg?e=khgSm0
  15. You could ruin the profile if the grinding ring engages the steel too early as its then removing material from areas that should not be sharpened.
  16. Skated with some AHL guys today and one of them had a Warrior QRE10 stick. I have seen them in the product catalogs but previously had not seen them in person. I was surprised they ditched the Edge Taper and are only using the Sabre Taper now for both the QRE and Alpha lines of sticks. I personally think the Sabre Taper is much better than the Edge taper, but with the two lines of sicks now being so similar I wonder what's the point in even having a QRE and an Alpha line....?
  17. Even if it's not ideal, I would rather have synthetic ice so I can shoot while wearing skates instead of shooting on dryland tiles.
  18. The toe cap design of the new Vapor is actual more roomy in width than the previous models. The depth is less though.
  19. I have a foot that fits between a E/A Vapor and a D/A Supreme, hence why I can fit into both decently. I would say the Supreme gives me a tighter and more responsive fit but the Vapor overall has a better feel. Its more flexible and I like the new toe cap design as it gives me a little more room than the standard toe cap in the Supreme. The Supreme while having the better overall fit of the two is more stiff and rigid and I prefer the flexible fit of the Vapor. Does that make sense?
  20. Some of the first steel released by many aftermarket steel companies were based on a template that was slightly incorrect in sizing. This led to the steel shifting in the holder, very slightly, and was corrected by many of the aftermarket companies upon general release of the new holders. Just use a small piece of tape behind the front "tooth" tp lock it in place or contact STEP and they will send you replacement steel.
  21. Yes. Skated in both. Like the fit of the 2S but prefer the performance of the 2X.
  22. I dig the helmet but unfortunately I am in between a small and a medium. The small with even the smallest pads is too tight and the medium with the biggest pads is too loose. This seems to always be the case though with helmets, I must have a strange shaped head or something as finding a helmet that fits me perfectly, other than an E700, seems nearly impossible. Every helmet I have ever owned I either had to cut padding out of or add padding to. Its beyond annoying.
