do I even want to ask... How much???

Thanks... I was more wondering if the Flyers or matt read would have not used the factory steel and put something special in the holders. I tried to talk to the PREDS skate guy but they frown upon us employees bothering them really hoping these are better than my $199 tacks 4092 skates

In pre celebration of getting off my Blood thinners and getting final OK to get back out on the Ice tomorrow... I Just scored CCM ultra tacks gloves $85 shipped ...and a used pair of Vapor 1X skates used by Matt Read of the FLYERS. $358 shipped... anything special I need to know or do with these skates? I guess I gotta take them in and have blades checked and sharpened. possible they may need steel replaced should I go for the LS4 steel if needed? will the steel in them be marked as LS3 or LS4? or possibly something else? and Am I right thinking that I have to have them baked for my foot?? they come with the speedplates too, I can rebake them

I tried this the other night for NA vs Europe... it asked me to log into cable provider and then said if you don't have access to the channel in your package it can't be streamed.. I have used p2p4u (dot)net..(aka first row sports )to find NHL games in the past but it takes a lot of fortitude as there are a ton of popups trying to get you to create accounts or pay or gamble or update your player etc... once you do it a few times you know how to find the tiny x box and close out and get to stream.... also there are usually several links to the game you choose and you sometime have to try them all can be frustrating... I was unable to get any of the 3 links to that WCOH game to work ***** if you have slow internet pass on this option when I het it to work I use HDMI cable and put it on the big screen

Thanks for posting this ...you helped a bunch

I watched it... announcers said that Europe are the bottom seed in that division... not sure why... as they have some real players on that team.... looking forward to tonight USA vs CANADA

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

Exactly! I was given 1/2" with no asking or explanation of sharpening options and results... Just went back and asked for 5/8 as I feel I am biting too much -

I can see i have the right foot bigger than left in these skates... insole that makes arch (and up) not hurt is too thick and it has my foot in the boot wrong so feels like blade is not where its supposed to be.. I put original insole back in, and the arch (and up) is very sore so now I am not distributing weight on that foot properly and it hurts my skating.... I guess I can get the arch punched out( not sure what that really means)??..... would a heat gun help and try and spot heat and push or smooth the area out with one of my wooden stick handling balls? or the local shop has a boot stretcher that they say takes 24hrs.. a little wider overall would be good I think as i may need a little more room overall.... any other ideas?? -

This is an AWESOME thread!! great to know others going through the same stuff I felt strange (at 50 and working for Preds operations) at taking up skating and hockey. It all started as trying to get Mrs. a spot on the ICE CREW. I am having some of the same skill and Skate pain issues (NEW CCM TACKS 4092...$199 value skates ,but told they are good enough for the playing I want to do) you talk about (Massive foot cramping.. left skate seems to have settled in, but I can see my right foot is larger and its a fit issue-- getting a bit better with time).. and I was wearing a tshirt with elbows, a helmet, and shins with sweatpants over them and looked Like an idiot... Now I have full gear and wear it all during public skate too... Adult class is next.. I am having fun and trying to get in better shape as I have already had my 1st heart attack, and 10yrs ago broke my tibial plateau vertically and the leg is held together with an erector set and sounds like a gravel driveway when I move it... If I don't keep moving I will age even faster... hello Hockey............. if skate pain or leg issues get in the way, I guess I could switch to goalie so there is still hope
