  1. I’ve held it. It’s neat, but a gimmick, IMO (especially at that price point). Let’s hope it stays in one piece. Bauer is trying to become the “Apple” of the hockey industry. The “Bauer Tax” is quickly becoming a real thing.
  2. The “tennis shoe” comparison was a bit over the top. My apologies. I don’t recall the tongue containing memory foam. The tongue is however, less “rigid” and a bit more “plush” than the previous Vapor tongues. It still has lace bite protection. I usually hate Bauer tongues (I use the CCM XS Slim and love it), but this tongue was one I could see myself skating with. Not allowed to say anymore about the boot, sorry....or the new LS steel 😶.
  3. Yes, same height and fit. They increased the forward flexion and overall flex of the skate. It’s a nice upgrade. I LOVE the new tongue. It’s almost like a tennis shoe tongue. Here is a higher resolution pic so you can see what is on the boot (mods please delete if necessary).
  4. FYI, this isn’t the actual graphics package. They’re just showing you the features of the skate. Someone leaked the Ultrasonic early last year at Bauer World and they were pissed. They’ve decided to not release the skate OR stick graphics package until June/July. The Hyperlite skates I held were the same as above. Even the rep has no idea what they’re going to look like. However, the rest of the line has a very simple, non-flashy design. Think original Supreme TotalOne. They look great.
  5. No problem. They’ll work fine for you. PM “SkateworksPNW”. He’s located in that area.
  6. The FT2 heels were the snug ones that squeezed my heels/achilles tendons. The AS3 were wider and did not squeeze. How skinny? IMO, the entire CCM line has narrower heels as compared to the rest of the market. You should be fine. Did you use the Bauer Fit Machine to see your general measurements?
  7. To me, the AS3 heel was noticeably wider as compared to the FT2/FT490, which actually squeezed my heels out of the box (but opened up nicely after baking). Skate tech advancements have been incredible over the past 3-4 years (I stopped playing during that period). Also, It’s about time someone offered a “AAA-ish” heel for “modern” skates at the retail level. It only took them 25 years.....
  8. JR, I didn’t realize this was currently going on. My sincerest best wishes to your wife and mother. Small-Cell Lung Cancer is a tough one, but she’ll get through it! I know I don’t frequent these boards anymore (Hockey is non-existent in MS), but if you need anything, feel free to drop me a message. -Chris
  9. 100% Disagree. This screams "West Point knockoff" to me.
  10. I'm a huge fan of the logo and color scheme, but I have to agree with JR here. "Vegas" alone just doesn't seem right.
  11. I've found that it feels stiffer than the Reckoner did.
  12. Even with Toe Flick to the extreme, I see no way that you would be able to touch that portion of the blade to the ice during a stride.
  13. Leave the height alone. You don't need to sharpen those areas of the steel. When do you skate on those parts???? Never. All you're going to do is Banana the profile of the steel in the long run. Source: I've sharpened skates for a decade.
  14. How was Sparx able to create FBV wheels? Isn't there a patent on it from Blackstone?
  15. Very cool, Keith! Glad to see you stuck with it! Do you have the wheel base measurements, by chance (i.e. from the front of the front wheel to the back of the rear wheel)? I wear size 6.5 skates, and the 72mm version is catching my interest! I loved the originals, the wheel base was just too long for me. Even the Mission Hi-Lo is still too long, wheelbase wise. I have been trying to find some old 72-80 HiLo frames with no luck. That grip you got with the Sprungs was unreal, though. I had to use 78A wheels and STILL tore them up (at 155lbs back in the day). Would 3-D printing also mean you would be able to alter the pitch of the base (i.e. make the frame so it would pitch someone more forward)? Hope all is well!
  16. The Supreme line seems to have become shallower over the years (At least, since the One95). I wish they would have kept it the way it was.
  17. They should be great for you. Plenty of depth. Much more than Supreme, On par with Flexlite, I'd say. Maybe a smidge less. They are not as "boat" like as the Nexus skates.
  18. I'm still curious why CCM would pick their "Revolutionary" Skate to be the fit that doesn't seem to work for a lot of people, width wise. I would have assumed they would have made this skate to be more of a Jetspeed/Supreme fit.
  19. Interesting. I tried the 6D (I wear a 6D Jetspeed and 6.5 MX3) and the forefoot area was squeezing the heck out of my foot. I don't have a particularly wide foot either.
  20. Not as wide, MUCH narrower heel pocket. The heel pocket width is on par now with the Jetspeed, which I would say is equal to the Vapor ( "A" width heel).
  21. This. If you want to keep it looking pretty, use a piece of leather to hone the edges after sharpening. Or just don't hone it at all. The "residue" left over from sharpening should come off of the steel as soon as you begin skating.
  22. At the end of the day Beer Leaguers are impossible to please. If they ask for more penalty calls, they bitch when you call them. If they want you to call the game more loosely, they bitch when you don't make the calls. It would be nice if they actually acted like the Adults they are supposed to be.
