If you are a advanced beginner, you probably want to wear the skate that is more comfortable. When your "skating" skill level improves, you will want a stiffer boot.
-
Oh, What brand or company did you get these jerseys from? curious.
-
Hmm, everyone else on the team have the same problem? That doesn't sound right or you bought a size too small. I wouldn't go with thinner elbow pads just to fit in the jersey sleeves. But CCM makes slim-profile referee elbow pads if that's what you really want.
-
You could try CCM JetSpeed in 6.5 EE.

How's playing with a shorter stick? Are you bent over more to pass, shoot and stick-handle?

So, I went ice skating over a week ago and felt my left knee wanting to give out when I was doing cross overs to the left at high speed. That is, a lot of pressure on the left skate outside edge. Anyway, it would have been bad if my knee gave out and I crashed. This was not hockey, it was just be at public skating. I bought a patellar tendon knee strap, it goes below the knee cap. Anyone else play while wearing one? I've got a game coming up and haven't had a chance to go to open hockey while wearing one.

I use the Bauer one. I'm always spraying anti-fog before a game. If I'm playing in the summer, or it's hot outside in fall or spring, then, I'll bring a towel and anti-fog spray with me to the bench. I'll re-apply between periods. I don't like playing with cage masks.

CCM and Easton make wide fitting helmets. Not sure why you stuck with the same helmet for years if it wasn't fitting properly.

Sharpening: Blade Hollow and the Relationship to Body Weight
caveman27 replied to Gretsch's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
About 180 now. i have size (old) 5.5 CCM skates with 8' profile radius. I can skate with either 1/2 or 5/8 ROH. 1" is too shallow. I can get a lot of glide with awful ability to dig into the ice.- 47 replies

Everyone learns from their mistakes, hopefully. Better now, than later. What skill level are you playing at? If it's lower level, 1. the other guys may not be able to skate back quickly, or 2. don't know they need to transition to defensive positioning when they lose control of the puck, or 3. plain lazy and hope someone is playing D.

Sharpening: Blade Hollow and the Relationship to Body Weight
caveman27 replied to Gretsch's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
1" would be a total joke and quite awful. I'm about that weight. Some guy sharpened my skates to 1" ROH. Coming from 1/2" it was basically like skating on rental skates that haven't been sharpened in 5 years plus renters walking on bleachers and concrete during those 5 years.- 47 replies

I took diclofenac after a shoulder surgery. But aside from that, my back pain is gone after the surgery and from the MRIs and x-rays, I have degenerated discs not herniated discs for the other lumbar discs in my back. I've already gone out and played twice. I wear a weight-lifting belt (non-leather) for extra back support just in case.

Hope your mom is doing well.

That URL is interesting. I go from christianhockey.com to supremebrands.com to christianhockey.com

some dude was looking at bauer 1x pro stock sticks from someone off of kijiji . He got 4 for $400 each. $270 for one stick is crazy for me.... period.
-
Well, it's been about nine months since I had surgery. Today, I ran 1 mile on the treadmill in 7 minutes 42 seconds. So, if you have had spinal fusion surgery and are reading this thread sometime in the future, this is my progress.
-
Did your doctor tell you when you would be able to play after the cast is removed?
-
That's believable. I had Step Steel with my previous skates and the quality of the steel was better than OEM blades so I didn't have to sharpen as often.
-
Venting? The two ice rinks in the city do not have open ice hockey times. There were some last month, and I only got to go to one of them. I want to get some practice before October when the fall men's league season starts. Unlike any other place I've lived in the US, they only have open ice hockey during holidays and between beer league seasons. ☹️

I just looked up their website. Never heard of these blades until now. https://flareskateblade.com/ I get the concept, since the bottom edge is wider, the hollow of the blade provides more glide similar to FBV. It would seem to me that you would start to lose that same edge angle after every sharpening (even though it's a little angle each time) until you can go with a narrow hollow, e.g. 1" to 7/8". So, you would be sacrificing edge feel during that "middle" time until you could grind it at 7/8", Or, sacrifice feel and go with an even sharper 7/8" earlier than later. I would rather have consistent feel after multiple sharpenings. They don't really talk about it in the FAQs. Maybe they don't have long term testing where someone has ground down the blades a lot.
-
If it's sporadic, it might not be the ice rink penalty box. You may be passing by a strong magnetic field elsewhere.
-
Interesting. What if you put a battery-powered watch in the same bag with your high-end mechanical watch just to see what would happen. As far as I know, the penalty box, team benches, and timekeeping box are just raised wooden platforms on top of concrete.
-
No. Is someone going into your bag and resetting the time while you are on the ice?
-
oh. I thought they were getting released tomorrow. I have a BPM150 that is under 400 gms. It's like a toothpick so I can bring the stick up, around, and down quickly, but I'm not able to knock a stick away while defending. I don't know if anyone else with a sub-400 gm stick notices that. If I pick up one of my blade/shaft combo sticks, there's more heft and weight at the blade where I seem to get more poke check power.
