  1. These are now baked, punched, and perfect. 100% dig these things. I skated for about three hours on Sunday. Probably two in these, 45 minutes in the AS3 Pro, and 20-30 in the 2xPros. 100k felt very nice and performed exceptionally. I'll reiterate...you definitely can play any style in any skate. I felt no lack of power in the 100ks or 2xPros and no loss of agility in the AS3 PROs. They just feel different and I like that. McDavid was wearing Jetspeeds (not sure about now)...would anyone say he's not a powerful or agile skater. How about Barzal...AS3 Pros...I don't think there's a more agile skater in the world than Barzy. Just bugs me that some players may never find their perfect ride cuz they just read the marketing. As a coach, I get asked all the time about "which skate should I get..." So many players come back and say thank you..."I would never have even tried those on and they felt the best of all of them." Same with sticks...if the balance and shaft feel right...I can play my game. If not...kickpoint will mean nothing to me. Ok...end mini-rant. 100K...can't wait to get 'em in da game...Friday night πŸ₯…πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ’πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž
  2. Re-baked today...my old way...185 for 4-5 minutes. Waaaaaay better molding to my feet! Punched my left skate and now they feel perfect. I'll see how they move tomorrow. I'm planning on using them for Tuesday's practice.
  3. Baked them tonight. I went per the CCM instructions (just like you see posted). Not sure how I like that compared to 185 for 5 minutes. I baked my own 80k's, 2xPros, and AS3 Pros successfully using 185F for 5 minutes. This process of 220F for 2 minutes didn't seem to result in the skate being as moldable. I have a gas oven; it's high quality and very accurate so I'm sure of the temps. Anyway...I'll see how they set and do it again if necessary. Perhaps these foams and composites form with lower heating times. They were already comfortable so just really a fine-tune. It'll be interesting to see if I still have to punch. I put two cloth wads under a silicone sleeve inside my sock. Hopefully they punched the boot enough to do the job. If not...it's easy enough. Anyway...slide 'em again on Sunday. I'll post an update.
  4. Those who do your own...what do you like to use? I've been using a ratchet clamp and a golf ball into various cups. It works ok, but I'm considering a screw clamp for more force and less slippage. Wondering what you guys use.
  5. I went fro a 2xPro 7.5 D to a fit 2...the forefoot is a bit narrow even in fit 2 (but not by as much), but the heel doesn't seem to lock as well. In contrast...the AS1 7.5 D, AS3 Pro 7.5D, and 100K Pro 7.5 "regular" fit like they're part of my anatomy in every dimension. Might end up selling the Vapors...might not...still like the way they ride. Might just use them for coaching. CCM just seems to be the best fit and feel for me. Wouldn't mind trying a 7.5 regular FT4 Pro...might have to paint them though 🀣.
  6. Well...I skated practice tonight and I like them a lot! They feel like Tacks with more forward flexion. That's what I wanted. I believe I will have to bake them and maybe punch. I felt great for about 45 minutes...then the ankle bone protrusion began to get irritated. It wasn't terrible but in a game I think it would have gotten worse. So...bake first...then see about punching. As far as skating style and this particular skate...Personally, I think the marketing for all of these lines from Bauer and CCM is pretty much BS. I can skate any style in any skate if it fits and feels right. I can skate with power and agility with any of the skates I've mentioned. My advice for anyone looking is...close your eyes...try them on...get the skate that fits and feels best...then play your game.
  7. A couple things to add...put the regular thickness D30 tounges in from my AS3 Pros...perfect. They aren't perfect in the Tacks...they are just a bit narrower than the stock Tacks tongue and that makes them slide the side when I skate. I haven't been using them...I will now. Also...I had Adrenaline Powerfoot inserts in the 80ks and they were still roomy. No room for these in the 100ks. Skating tonight...I'll let you know how it goes. I'll bake them later.
  8. Just arrived today! So...first thoughts. 1. Fit is right on. Fits exactly like my AS3 Pros and AS1s. That was what I was hoping. I will add one thing...I can't remember how the Tacks felt before baking. When I put the 100k on, the toe box feels just a tiny bit narrower. I think when I bake it, that'll change. I know that toe boxes aren't that form-able compared to the rest of the skate, but it really only has to open up by a millimeter or two. If not...it's still comfortable. 2. Unlike both Tacks models, this skate is comfortable out of the box! My left maleolar bone was broken and it protrudes. I have to have my skates punched in two spots because of that. I couldn't skate in my Tacks, 2xPros, or 80ks unpunched. I had these 100ks on for about an hour tonight, just in the house. I could skate in them if I had to. Very snug (no slop) and very comfortable. I do "pro size" meaning I wear an 11 running shoe/ hiking boot and a 7.5 skate (D Tacks, "Fit 2" 2xPros, and "regular" Ribcor). I should be able to take them for a slide either tomorrow or Thursday at practice. I have a game on Friday, but...might be a bit soon for these. Anyway...I'll move provide more as I know more. So far...happy happyπŸ₯…πŸ’πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž Stay tuned.
  9. Pretty excited as I really like the flex profile of this line, but nothing fits my foot like AS3 Pros. My basic history is that I have two replacement hips as of 6/2018. I skate 4-6x week playing and coaching, so I rotate skates. Currently AS3 Pros and 2xPros (fit2). I started with AS1, added 2xPros (before there was a fit choice), added 80k's. Sold the 2xPros and 80ks when I tried the AS3 Pro...that was perfect. I ended up missing being able to rotate so...2xPros again. Anyway...the 80k's were nice but just didn't fit like the Tacks.. comfortable but the performance was not there in comparison. Fast forward...100k...regular fit...hopefully that will be perfect. It's so much fun trying gear! I played D3 in the late 70's early 80's. Used the same equipment from about 15 until I was 25 or so. This level of variety didn't exist and if it did...I wouldn't have been able to afford it anyway 🀣This era is like hockey Disneyland! Of course...pro sports has gone to shite...that's a whole different discussion πŸ˜‘. I'll let you know hey these new ones slide...if you are interested.
  10. Just wanna be clear...the nature of my post is totally whimsical!
  11. Apparently...I'm not🀬🀣 Good point...I've known a lot of guys like that🀣
  12. Good point...I've known a lot of guys like that🀣
  13. Yup...100k in a Tacks fit...that's what I'm waiting for πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž
  14. I'd like a Ribcore flex profile in a one-piece Tacks-fit boot. That would complement my AS3 Pros perfectly! Never made a video so...not sure who you are watching???
  15. I started in AS1s. I now skate in AS3 Pros (7.5D...11 running shoe), which fit like they're part of my body. They are much more comfortable than the AS1s up around the ankles. Because of the amount of time that I am on ice either playing or coaching, and because I have two artificial hips, I alternate skates with a pair with more forward flexion. I used to use 2xPro 7.5D as my second pair. They were a bit too snug...especially at the ball of my foot...outer edges. I sold them and tried using only one pair for a half a year. I realized my recovery time was longer between games without alternating. I tried 80Ks but they were just too roomy. When the fit system came out and 2xPros went on clearance...I decided to try again. 7.5 Fit 2. Compared to the AS3 Pros...roomier in the heel and midfoot. Almost too roomy, but after about a month in them...I like the fit, and love the feel. If there was a skate the fit like the AS3 Pro and flexed like the 2xPro...I'd be all about it. Maybe the Ribcore 100k will be that skate...80K fit was just not doing it, but I did like the flex profile. Yeah...I spend too much on skates. All the way through college I just used my gear until it broke down...now...I don't have to πŸ’πŸ₯…πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ€—πŸ˜Ž
  16. I completely agree...I've had a very successful 50 years of hockey without being able to do it. It's just bugging me that I can't...and I'm not the sort to quit. I'm sure it's pretty obvious that the tone of my rant is hyperbolic/humorous. Rest assured...it's not affecting my enjoyment of the gameπŸ€£πŸ’πŸ₯…πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ˜Ž.
  17. ...to do that "trick" where you pick up the sitting flat puck onto your blade! I've been playing hockey since 1975...played HS...college...a year after that in Canada. I have been trying to learn how to do this forever! It's driving me nuts. I'm a good hockey player...I'm a good teammate (at least I've been told these things), but sometimes I feel like I'd give it all up if I could just learn this stupid trick. Ok...obviously I'm kidding, but...I'm not giving up! Maybe it's stick length/flex (I'm 5'9'"...75 or 80 flex cut to 60.5" toe on the ground)? Wax isn't sticky enough (I use a candle)? Sins from a previous life? I'm clueless. There are guys that I can play circles around who can do it. Are there any other accomplished players out there in the same boat? HELP!!!!! Or ridicule me...either is fine.
  18. Massive shout out to @Sportif on SidelineSwap where I purchased these twigs. They looked up the entire info package for my sticks. Told me what everything was down to the +5mm extra blade length. And they are indeed AS3 Pros. Highly recommend them!
  19. I grabbed a couple of AS3 Pros from SidelineSwap. Checked that they were not "dressed" and assured they weren't. I don't recognize the code: 1HSMTHLSP. It is extra-long...that's for sure🀣. Anyway, the information that I find is somewhat dated. The only AS3 Pro code I've seen is: HMSM5SP. So...am I returning these or do I have what I ordered? Thanks all!

    Fit?

Just curious...if an AS3 Pro 7.5D fits like a glove, and a 2xPro 7.D fit 2, fits well but slightly looser in the heel (definitely usable but I do like the Tacks better in this regard). How would a Jetspeed FT2 work in either D or EE? I had a pair of previous gen 2xPros (D), and they were a better heel fit but the forefoot...not too comfortable. They were ok after significant heating and shaping. I rotate skates as I have artificial hips and I'm on-ice 5-6 days a week often. I may wait for 100Ks or FT4s, but with prices down...I dig having a stiff boot and a flexible one to change up. The 2x Pros have great flex for that purpose. Thanks boyzπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ’πŸ₯…πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž
  21. I'll check it out...thank you. I don't know why every brand doesn't have a square toe option that's not a crazy heel twist. I tried the Leech blades on my old T-flex but backhand function was nil. I think the Lidstrom curve is the same.
  22. Just curious...anyone ever take a heat gun to their blade? Does it work? I used to torch my wooden blades but never tried carbon composite. Skates are...are sticks? Actually...I'd love to find a P29/92 with a square toe, but if I can mold a Lidstrom...that'd work. Thanks all!
  23. I've been using the Grit Airbag for two years now. Really like it and it's held up very well. Only issue I have is when it rains...gear can get wet going from the car to the rink. The other side of that is that it never gets skunky in the bag because there is always airflow.
  24. If I could try them I'd definitely consider it. I decided to go with another pair of 2xPros. The only thing I did not care for was the narrowness, but now there's the "Fit 2" option. I think they'll be perfect. I would wait for the new 100K but I have four 1 week-long camps coming up @ 6 hours a day coaching plus 2x games of my own per week. I need another ride now🀣
  25. Appreciate the response. I have no issues adjusting but I certainly understand it. How is the flex profile on the Trues? How do you find the fit compared to CCM and Bauer. I have seen the video about the fit issues, but I've also heard others say they are the same as the others. Interested in your take. I'm thinking perhaps since I liked the 2xPros that with a Fit 2 now available...might be a good idea. I do hate those injected eyelets but I can bore them out.
