  1. Yup...those be them. Mine were black.
  2. I had a pair but can't remember the model #. I think they were $249...best that I could find. I believe I got them from either Ocean or Great Skate. They were like skating in a bunker...in terms of protection and bulk. They also took about as long to dry as my 70's Cooper Pros. I can't remember if I found them to play heavy. I'm much happier in today's pants. Any reason you are looking for these particular pants?
  3. You masterfully distilled that down to its essence 🤣
  4. Looks like the bottom line is...just not worth the effort. I thought maybe you could just cut and insert, but...I'm not seeing that's the case. i did it on a Synergy years ago, but those aren't true one-piece sticks like the current ones. Unless I'm not reading things correctly. Thanks folks...saved me some $ and wasted time!
  5. Thanks for the response. Yeah...in the early 90's I had some...T-flex, Koho Revolution, and a Synergy in which the blade broke and I put various blades on them. I'm just not familiar with how these one-piece sticks are put together. A lot of them taper but they're not standardized. Be interesting to see how a low-kick shoots upside down.
  6. I have a few sticks that I don't care for and they're not worth selling, so...I figure they might be cool for trying out different blades. Seems cheaper than buying a whole stick only to learn you hate the curve (like me and the P28). So...what's the skinny as to what fits what? If I chop the blade off of an Alpha QX or an FT2...can I just buy (for example) a True blade or an older wooden blade...fire up the heat gun and pop it in? Is there more to it than that as far as compatibility? Thanks in advance for the Intel!
  7. I'm using Jofa 9060's...they're pretty indestructible and to me they're comfortable. Also using Nexus 2n's...also great, but I can't see the Bauers lasting nearly as long. The trade-off is they're lighter and dry amazingly fast in comparison.
  8. Ok cool...I was wondering if I was missing something.
  9. Not to be dense but...I don't see how the shell attaches to the girdle. I only have the PP90 currently, but all I can see to do is pull it on and tighten the belt.
  10. Got it...thank you. Mine should be here today (the 9K)...I get to check it out. I didn't even know the shells attached...I thought you just pulled 'em over and cinched 'em up. Thanks for that too!
  11. So...been about a month and I've been practicing with purpose just about every day with a day off here and there to keep from getting stale. Gotta say...as much as I hate not being able to skate...this dedicated practice routine has made a huge difference in my stickhandling and my shot. How this will translate to the ice...no idea but I'm feeling good. I was able to video myself and my wife (who is seriously knowledgeable when it comes to our game) has watched me. Additionally viewing iTrainHockey, Coach Jeremy and some other nicely done teaching...we uncovered bad habits that I didn't know I had. My puck placement was forward of ideal, my top hand was too close to my body, I wasn't pulling back with it, and when stickhandling, it wasn't doing enough of the work. Looking at the puck too much. My weight transfer was less than stellar too. Funny enough...when I coach...I don't do any of that, but when I play or practice...apparently I do...whadayaknow? It was like...how the hell have I had as much success in this game as I have with all of this garbage going on? Anyway, four weeks later...these habits are all but gone, and the refined technique is finally becoming muscle memory. My shots are waaaaay harder and much more accurate. My boomers were already good (lucky I guess) but even better now; my wrist shot and snappers are like they're coming from someone else. I'm not used to having this much heat on those types of shots and they're going where I want them to. My control and stickhandling speed has also improved greatly. Never been this fast or controlled. I still can't flip the damn puck in the air from flat on the ice (or board)...if you have any magic tips for that...holla cuz...I just can't do it. I guess that's cool...the stuff I can do in a game is what I'm after. I want to say two things...first...thanks to all of you who gave input. That's one of the super-cool things about hockey...the people are awesome. Whenever I meet people who are new to the game...I tell them about "hockey people." I've been in games where we had every level from newbie to ex-NHL on the same bench. You can't tell who's who by the way people interact...everyone is cool to everyone! I've played other sports...it ain't like that anywhere else! We have a few miscreants here and there, but for the most part...awesome! Second thing...if you are getting frustrated trying to improve some aspect of your game...check yourself. Are you spending the time necessary to make that change? I was definitely not! Sometimes we just don't have it available, and then...at least hockey is fun with out without suckage. But...it really does take time and a plan to get better! I saw very little change for about a month, and it was frustrating. It's not like I wasn't a good player, so I'm seeing all of these flaws and it was pissing me off! Why didn't my coaches ever tell me these things? Did I acquire these habits as an adult? How come I'm not getting better? Well...about two weeks ago I started seeing the change. Last week even more and faster. Now every time I go down to practice, I pick up where I left off and things get better each time. Hopefully, I hit the ice when we get green lit, and this stuff will translate. I feel like there will be a curve, but I'm pretty confident at this point. Anyway...at 59 with two new hips...there's still nothing I love more than hockey...except my wife and my dog. Thanks folks!
  12. Thank you for responding! I found the PP90 needs to be a medium for my large ST girdle. I hope the same will hold for the 9k...I ordered one in medium although it was pretty cheap. Sure would be nice if sizes were standardized. For my CCM large pants...I need a large pant shell, but for my medium Warrior pants shell...I also need a large shell. Don't get me started on how it's possible that I am a large CCM and a medium Warrior (which is still borderline large on me). Top it off...where I am...one hockey shop. I'll give them credit...they have a ton of stuff and they're super-cool people (shout out to North Georgia Hockey), but...they can't carry everything. Even if they could...I ain't goin' out yet. Can you explain what you mean by changing how they attach to the pants? Girdles are a whole new ball game for me. All I've been able to do is try it on at home...looking forward to seeing how they play!
  13. In like...93 or 94 I bought a pair of DR Centurion shin guards because they looked super-protective. They were (are), but were also incredibly bulky and hot. When I wore them, I felt like I was ready to go out and train with a K9 unit. I could barely crossover with these on. I will say, if you have knee injury or are particularly concerned about having one...these are your best friend. Just not gonna be Bobby Orr while you're wearing them. They're on sale on Sidelineswap and Ebay...probably forever.
  14. You said it! I have no idea what flex I'm actually playing with cuz I start with a stock stick and cut down to between 59-61" (butt to toe on the ground), so who knows?????
  15. Now that's interesting cuz my XC9 (two of 4) is definitely less stiff than my other 75's.
  16. Anyone find they need to go up a flex with True sticks? I have an XC9 75 flex and it seems whippy compared to all my other 76 sticks. I want to try an A6.0sbp but wondering if I should grab an 85. In contrast...my Warrior 75's feel like 85's🤣 CCM and Bauer seem to be in sync. Thanks all!
  17. I think my gear was soaked from 1974-1994🥶. The two best things to me about modern gear...the lighter weight...and...stuff is dry by the time you get home from the rink (OK...that's admittedly hyperbolic...but you know what I mean). I suppose we all have biases, but to me...the Cooper gloves from the 70's are the s**t! I have no doubt that's cuz I grew up on them, but... Dang...hijacked my own thread🤣
  18. I signed up but so far. no email...hope they send it... I'd try one for $150.
  19. How did you get the 50% off?
  20. Hopefully this thread will answer some questions for me and help anyone else who goes down this path. My journey to find a girdle is documented in another thread. I chose a Super Tacks and hopefully soon I'll actually get to skate in it! But not too soon cuz we don't wanna have to go through this again 🤣 Anyway, the unique thing about Super Tacks girdles (no idea if this applies to ST pants...it does to the HP45)...they run quite small. I am in a large (like the HP45)...in Warrior...I'm a medium and still need suspenders. Ordered a PP90C shell and while it is a great shell (well-made, extra padding, leg zips) large was big. It was like a 5 year old trying on daddy's pants big! Sent it back for a medium...bullseye 😎 Here are my current questions going forward: 1-How will other brands of girdle-specific shells fit? Since the ST is smaller...will I want a medium? I assume an actual ST CCM brand girdle shell would be a large since they come new with one. 2-Would a size small pant-specific girdle work? 3-I'm thinking about baselayer now...I am going to try McDavid and Nike padded shorts w/cup under, but...think it's going to be too hot with a Shock Doc underneath? I would love to not need a garter, but without the SDoc...nothing for sox. Any other words of wisdom regarding girdle usage...fire away. Hopefully we'll all be too busy to hang on this forum shortly cuz we'll be skating. I went from 6 days a week to...this🤬 I cannot wait! But I will👍!
  21. I do have those...only thing is...no tailbone protection. I did find a pair of McDavid Thud's for $15 and a pair of Nike Hyperstrong...same price. Gonna try both and see. The Nike seems like it might be overkill...I really don't need added thigh protection, but if they are comfortable... Sure is nice to have these options.
  22. Hey Guys, I'm curious with all of the available options for padded base layer pants (preferably with tailbone protection...and long would be awesome rather than shorts): 1-Which you prefer and why? 2-How you facilitate fastening your socks when you wearing them? I haven't seen a padded option with sock velcro other that Shock Doc Shockskin , and those are shorts with hip protection only So...compression underneath? Garter for socks? I've been wearing Shock Doc long compression with the sock holder velcro with pants, but I am going to be trying a Super Tacks girdle and want a little more tailbone protection. There are a ton of options at several price points, but trying to avoid too much bulk and being overly hot. Also would love to avoid having to go back to a garter! Thanks all!
