...would it be worthwhile to try the True Catalyst PX? I can't find much in the way of reviews. The Tacks twigs are perfect for me, but I'm always interested in trying new gear. Thanks all!s

I use 2s Pro (2 piece) and DX (3 piece), and used to use FT1 (3 pc). Doesn't matter...if it fits...it stays. More important is the base layer having no-slip applications. FWIW...the 2xPros are the most protective of the three. I don't feel restricted by any of them.
-
I found the 2n and Supreme S1 to be among the most protective...especially in that area. At least the retail version. There are some pro stocks of all types with beefed up padding. Might be worth looking into.
-
Just sold some FT1 pro stock...too narrow and tight for me. You might like them.

A "Heavy" CCM Jetspeed FT4 Pro Stick??
Jbear replied to clarkiestooth's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Sometimes pro stock sticks are heavier (or lighter) as per that particular player's spec (as was mentioned). I always ask for a weight. Have also found flex to feel different on some pro stocks (if so...usually stiffer). There's a fantastic variety of gear available, but...you have to be a lot more knowledgeable. Cost/benefit...as with everything. SidelineSwap is AWESOME with support...at least in my experience. -
I ended up gluing velcro on each surface with super glue. Seems to be fine and I like that I can remove/reposition.
-
That's a great idea. Maybe I can glue a velcro patch on one surface and the companion patch on the D30.
-
Apparently D30 recommended your standard cyanoacrylate, so...I'll give it a try.
-
I have some D30 that I want to glue to my shinnies. It's on inside of my knee, where I seem to be prone to stingers when blocking shots. The material is some synthetic cloth. What type of glue would work best for this? Thanks all!
-
Couldn't remember exactly when I started using them...thanks for clarifying. And so...my question stands?????

What modern twig would shoot the closest to an 85 flex retail Synergy from the early-mid 90's?

I think prostocksticks.com has a McD like this. I'm RH too, so...I'm accustomed to having about 32.3% of the choice that the normal hockey world hasπ₯ ππ¨π¦π€£π

Any idea if it has a pattern number?

Does this exist? I'm a D-man and a square toe is perfect for me but...I don't want that crazy heel hook. I used to be able to get wood twigs with a Chelios blade...I'm pretty sure those were square, but... I can't fathom that there's no market for a curve like this.

I think the FT4 Pro might do it if you want a traditional breezer. I haven't tried mine yet.
-
I alternate on one pair and overlace the other three. Only difference I've noticed is that alternate seems to stay tighter all game and is more difficult to unlace after. Using waxed for all. Seems to matter less with waxed laces (both phenomena). Note: three pairs are CCM with traditional eyelets...the other are 2xPros but I reamed out the locking eyelets to make them round (I hate those things).

I had this problem on my left pinky toe when I got a pair of Ribcor 100k's a couple of months ago. I thought the same size as my AS3 Pros would do it. Well...the toe box is about 2-3mm narrower in this model skate (my left foot is an 8...right is 7...7.5 is perfect for both feet historically). Took a heat gun and slowly got to where I could take a puck and hammer into the cap. Left it overnight...next day taped some Grolsh washers on the puck to increase diameter and did it again. They are perfect now. Honestly, if they don't last five years, I don't care. The modern skates are awesome in so many ways, but durability ain't even in the engineering conversation. The 77 Super Tacks I had through my high school and college career lasted until 1986. They were soaking wet for 9 years straight. Hacked, chopped...you name it. I didn't even use ProToe on them. Eventually there just wasn't any blade left. I don't expect any of these new skates to make that journey. On the plus side...no break-in, dry in an hour, and both of them (either model) weigh about as much as one of my old Comp 5000'sππ₯ π¨π¦ππ. Anyway...that's what I did π

I had a couple of AS3 Pros with P40 curves...seemed like a P88 with a slightly squared toe.
-
I'm a Tacks shooter too (currently trying to decide if I like the AS4 Pro enough to switch from the AS3 Pro). I found a list once...I'll see if I can find it again for you.
-
If that's shinguard tape it's stretchy and may not have anything to do with support. I do that to keep the tongue from sliding to the side. Just sayin'. I find the AS3 PROs to have better forward flexion than my AS1s and a more comfortable cuff. I'm admittedly a gear junkie, but these release cycles are ridiculous. Not even pros need updates this frequently. It's wasteful and tough on retailers who have to keep up. IMHO anyway.

I played in them on Friday night. Don't know if I was just "on" or what but it was my best skating game in a long time. It was definitely worth the time and effort to get that toebox widened. I didn't think I could like a pair of skates more than the AS3 PROs but...it's a least a tie at this point! For whatever reason...there's definitely a difference in the toebox shape between the two models. It's strange. I get the top-bottom cuz the shape is different, but looking down from above...you would've thought they'd be the same. Anyway...great now...awesome ride!
-
Exactly what happened to me. Weird cuz my AS3 Pros are the same size (albeit D v "regular"). The rest of the left skate feels great, and the right was perfect out of the box...hence the solution I described. Before you do any mods...check the CCM return policy so you don't end up stuck if they don't work out.
-
So now they're perfect! I took the tongue and laces out and clamped it in the vise. Took the heat gun to the toecap inside and out. Took a puck, which turns out is just a couple of mm's wider in diameter than the toe box, and tapped it in with a hammer. Heated again for a little bit. Let it set for about an hour. Tried it and it was waaaaay better, but I felt it wasn't quite there. I repeated the process only this time I increased the diameter of the puck. I used painters tape to fasten a Grolsh bottle washer (have a ton...I use them as guitar straplocks) to the edge. Tapped it in again, with the washer pushing against the problem spot and left it a few hours to set. I skated in them today and they felt great. No more squished together toes or pressure points. We all good now. I played Friday night in my AS3 Pros but next game up...these 100K's are goin' inπ¨π¦π₯ πππ

Appreciate it! Anyone else?
