I see 2xPros that are that beat up from rec league use. Generally speaking...the CCM skates I see hold up much better. I have both brands, and play at a fairly high level...no issues with either. But agree...these skates are not built to last ten years. They're made to be light, stiff, and dry fast.

I've got a bunch of runners...I never perceive a difference when I swap. I've skated on two different skates before (an AS3Pro and a 2xPro...also an AS3Pro and an 80k). It was easy...took two strides and I didn't even notice after that.

Got the 8's...the toe box issue is resolved. Now I just have to bake and hope they lock me in the way I like. Not sure if a 7.5 wide would be a better option, but trying this first cuz they became available first👍🤣😎
-
Well...I'm selling them. Just not the right fit. I'm not swimming in them but I'm almost vacuum formed in CCM, so...I'm gonna stick with those. I think they are nice skates but I need at least a 1/2 size smaller for them to work for me. Oh well...I tried.

Beer League Bum...he does pretty good gear reviews, but it's one perspective. I'm curious what others think as well. I'll be able to formulate my own when it gets here, but for now... Also, considering how good the LX Pro is, I may try the QR 5 Pro...it is available in a w02. If it's close to the Trig6...it's a good twig.

Found me a True Catalyst 9x with an HCS curve (W02 etc.). Anyone like this twig? I know BLB is meh on it, but that's one opinion. Honestly, I think any negatives will be offset by that curve. It's just dead-solid-perfect for my mechanics. Sauce, shots (all types), touch-passes, everything I do seems effortless with this one. Been using the LX Pro, and will stay with it, but this was new and super-cheap, so...why not. I do absolutely love the LX Pro, but I also dig the entire CCM line (more specifically AS3 Pro, FT3 Pro, and Trigger 6), and boy do I wish they would release this curve (rather than another model)! Ok...9x fans? Anyone?

Agreed. The apology was made, sincere, and accepted. I think we've all done this at one time or another. The double-edged sword that is the Internet. I think overall it's been a valuable discussion.

Cool...thanks folks!

Thanks for responding. Yeah...seen the vids...just wondering if it's doable alone and if it works with other brands.

Had 7.5...loved 'em but the toe box dug into my 1/2 larger left foot pinky toe. We tried stretching but could not get it to move enough. Trying 8's...hope it does the trick. I felt like 7.5 w would change everything else too much. 8 may do that too? We shall see.

Hey Bros (inclusive), I've never done the shrink wrap bake before. I have a pair of Ture TF9's that I want to bake, and I'm curious...has anyone done this solo and are there any tips to getting it done right? I'd also like to try it with a pair of Ribcore 80K's that feel great but I would be happy with a bit more heel lock. Is that something I can do with non-True skates? I'll get my wife/trainer/coach/equipment manager (yes...I am ridiculously lucky...I get it) to help if it's not a solo joint. Thanks all!

Can you get any of these with a Lidstrom heel curve?

This started out as my (probably whiney sounding) vent, but I gotta say, there have been some salient points made and I'm learning quite a bit. That...is kool😎

I have to rotate my skates for physio reasons (long story but if anyone wants to know...), so I have a bunch. Today I received a pair of TF9's. I wasn't really considering them but they were priced so low...I had to give them a shot. Anyway, I've been switching between AS3 Pros (my true favorites) and 2xPros for games, and for coaching...Ribcor 80k's and 70k's. I am a 7.5 D/reg/fit 2 in all of them (size 11 running shoe/hiking boot). Based on input from you guys, I sized down to a 7. The previous owner baked them. So...overall they seem pretty nice. Fit? Well, I could probably go down to 6.5...maybe even a 6. It's crazy! The footbeds of the True 7's are almost exactly the same length as the other 7.5's. The wrap is completely different...they close waaaay in comparatively. Haven't baked them for my feet yet and obviously haven't gone for a slide, so...the rest of my evaluation is on hold. If you're considering these...it's True (no pun intended), don't expect to be in the size you are used to with Bauer or CCM.

I appreciate your response and for the record...I also try just about everything that comes out...as you do. I play in two leagues (at a high level) and coach, so I'm on ice just about 7 days a week. With two artificial hips, I need to rotate skates with different flex profiles to avoid overuse injuries. I use a lot of different gear out of necessity (at least some of it). I'm not whining about this though (maybe it sounded that way). I'm just saying...it's not necessarily a good idea...holistically.

Boys...chill...it's not an all or nothing scenario. You can still progress in medical technology, transportation, agriculture, etc. and not release a new hockey stick every ten minutes (that's hyperbole lest anyone be tempted get there breeders in a wad). And true...we may look back in history someday and realize how the CCM Trigger 45 and Bauer HyperQuadraMicro-Lite (coming June 2024) brought peace, harmony, and a foolproof COVID vaccine to the world. But...also...maybe not. And can we maybe discuss it without calling each other names? Hockey players are already different animals so...we could be the first people who do that.
-
There's definitely a consumer-producer relationship. And I understand that it's some people's jobs to convince people that they need things...whether they do or not. The consumer has responsibility too for sure. But just because it works...don't make a good thing though. It's just my opinion. As a player, and a coach, and a consumer for a long time...I believe I'm qualified to have one...as are you.
-
My guys don't, but they are the only ones local, so admittedly...that's not representative. Definitely agree on the "improvements" reality. Every once in a while...something awesome happens. More often the changes seem trivial in practice. And yes, I'm gear ho, so...I'm being a bit hypocritical. But it's because I try so much of it that have made this observation.
-
Maybe take a basic logic course cuz the ad hominem component doesn't show you in a particularly good light. I'm not bitter, I'm making an observation. It also sucks for any small LHS cuz they lose $ on inventory as they have to keep up with the cycle. Also...it's hockey gear...not medical technology or transportation. And you could have made all of your points (which aren't without merit) without being d-baggy about it. But...I guess that's your choice.
-
Ridiculous product release cycles. Nice to have options but wasteful to dump new products every ten minutes. Nobody needs this, but marketing talks people into buying new gear with the promise of "harder shots," "quicker release," "more agility," ad nauseum. I like gear but it's just not responsible. There...now I feel better 👍🏒🇨🇦🥅🤣

Do you find the 100k fits 1/2 size smaller than the AS3 PROs?
-
I just sew it closed with waxed dental floss.
-
I'm a CCM guy for skates and shinnies, but Supreme shoulder pads are really protective without being overly bulky or hot. I did replace the caps with the ones from my old college pads (Cooper SB94).
-
Thoughts on the Hyperlite protective lineup?
Jbear replied to Bastion's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
My current elbow pad favorites are Warrior DX and Bauer 2sPro. Love the protection of the AS1 but my inner elbow wasn't deep enough in the pocket and was consequently exposed. Perhaps the AS-V addresses that. Love the AS1 shinnies and the FT4 Pro...I alternate depending upon whether I'm playing F or D. -
That is tremendously generous of you to offer. I will certainly consider it! Thank you.
