  1. Yeah...not sure why these guys regularly do blind tests with different flexes and patterns. Makes absolutely no sense! Appreciate the responses.
  2. What if any differences did you observe? If you don't mind?
  3. Hey Guys/Girls, I'm an AS2 Pro User. Everything about this twig works for me (I play D). I'm a righty and use 80 flex p29/p90-style blades (although I'd love to try a Lidstrom square toe pattern). My question is...have any of you used the AS1 and AS2 Pro? Do you find them to be noticeably different in balance, feel, or shooting? Especially balance...I love the way the AS2 Pro feels in the hands. I'm asking because my sticks aren't especially common. I grab them when I see them, but if the AS1 is comparable, I'd have more options. Thanks all!
  4. I was getting them from Monkey on clearance...they may have discontinued. I didn't think about that.
  5. I went from the FT1 to the 2SPro after also trying the AS1'S. Left the FT1 cuz the forearm protection was lacking, but they were very comfortable. Liked the AS1 but one major flaw...my elbow didn't sit deeply enough in the pocket (yes...the correct size) and my inner joint was exposed...a shot or slash would have been disastrous. The 2S Pro is perfect for me. Sounds like you would like the FT1's or Warrior equivalent. Just be aware that a big whack on the forearm is gonna hurt (with the FT1)...unlike the other two.
  6. I wear Warrior long sleeved base. It has rubberized material on the sleeves. My elbows stay put.
  7. No issues with that myself. I also have a pair of Adrenaline Powerfoot cushions in there... they're comfortable for me. I'm a size 11 shoe (hikers and running) and wear a 7.5 D skate. These feel perfect to me. As I mentioned, I use 2x Pros as well...those were a tiny bit snug in the forefoot, but the heat gun took care of that. The awesome thing is that there are so many choices...you don't have to skate in something that doesn't feel right...even without custom skates. I had a pair of '78 Super all Tacks through my college career. There was a bump-out in the toe cap of my right skate...I just skated through it (lots of teammates had similar issues) . My right big toe is permanently misshapen from that. Nobody has to go through that anymore! Find your wheels Bro and don't look back👍🥅🇨🇦🏒😎
  8. Good intel! My only issue...the top of the boot. The silicone sleeve does mitigate this but if the AS3 has that comfort...they're gonna be my next skate. The AS1 feels like part of my body with regard to fit.
  9. I really dig the AS1's. I go between them and Vapor 2X Pro's, depending on how many times a week I play/coach. My only "issue" with my AS1's is the boot cuff is so stiff I need to wear a silicone ankle sleeve for them to be comfortable. I'm curious as to whether this has been mitigated in the AS3...they mention "comfort" quite a few times, but marketing is marketing. Anyone have a chance to actually lace 'em up? Second game back tonight...first was 8 skaters (v 15)...tonight...6 of us🤮🤣🏒🇨🇦🥅
  10. 33/34...depending. I'm 5'9"/165. My chest is 40-41". That seems to make a difference as well. Thanks for responding!
  11. Okay...so...if I'm a medium Warrior Covert (a bit loose), a large CCM HP45 (loose in the ab area...comfortable but snug in the hips...borderline short even unzipped for added length), a large Super Tacks girdle (good fit...a little long in the thigh...yes...even with adjustable height)...what size would I be in Bauer? Notice how all over the place these things fit🤬🤯🤣 As an aside...I got to skate last Saturday...all day...helping with travel tryouts...man it felt good to get out there. Six hours in skates is a long time though🤕🤣 Very well managed...temps taken at the door...12 players in the building at any given time. No locker rooms except for coaches and we were masked up...two of us did the whole day. A couple of others did one session or another. Props to rink management...they did it right. Our camps are scheduled to start 6/8...I'm gonna need it more than the kids...my games are starting 6/13...all contingent on safety...fingers crossed 🏒🥅🇨🇦👍😎!
  12. Will check that out...thanks. I've gotten a couple of medium PP90's, which seem to be a good fit and one SuperTacks large that I haven't tried yet, but...you'd think since it came with that girdle...it should fit.
  13. Ok cool...I was wondering if I was missing something.
  14. Not to be dense but...I don't see how the shell attaches to the girdle. I only have the PP90 currently, but all I can see to do is pull it on and tighten the belt.
  15. Got it...thank you. Mine should be here today (the 9K)...I get to check it out. I didn't even know the shells attached...I thought you just pulled 'em over and cinched 'em up. Thanks for that too!
  16. Thank you for responding! I found the PP90 needs to be a medium for my large ST girdle. I hope the same will hold for the 9k...I ordered one in medium although it was pretty cheap. Sure would be nice if sizes were standardized. For my CCM large pants...I need a large pant shell, but for my medium Warrior pants shell...I also need a large shell. Don't get me started on how it's possible that I am a large CCM and a medium Warrior (which is still borderline large on me). Top it off...where I am...one hockey shop. I'll give them credit...they have a ton of stuff and they're super-cool people (shout out to North Georgia Hockey), but...they can't carry everything. Even if they could...I ain't goin' out yet. Can you explain what you mean by changing how they attach to the pants? Girdles are a whole new ball game for me. All I've been able to do is try it on at home...looking forward to seeing how they play!
  17. In like...93 or 94 I bought a pair of DR Centurion shin guards because they looked super-protective. They were (are), but were also incredibly bulky and hot. When I wore them, I felt like I was ready to go out and train with a K9 unit. I could barely crossover with these on. I will say, if you have knee injury or are particularly concerned about having one...these are your best friend. Just not gonna be Bobby Orr while you're wearing them. They're on sale on Sidelineswap and Ebay...probably forever.
  18. I think my gear was soaked from 1974-1994🥶. The two best things to me about modern gear...the lighter weight...and...stuff is dry by the time you get home from the rink (OK...that's admittedly hyperbolic...but you know what I mean). I suppose we all have biases, but to me...the Cooper gloves from the 70's are the s**t! I have no doubt that's cuz I grew up on them, but... Dang...hijacked my own thread🤣
  19. Hopefully this thread will answer some questions for me and help anyone else who goes down this path. My journey to find a girdle is documented in another thread. I chose a Super Tacks and hopefully soon I'll actually get to skate in it! But not too soon cuz we don't wanna have to go through this again 🤣 Anyway, the unique thing about Super Tacks girdles (no idea if this applies to ST pants...it does to the HP45)...they run quite small. I am in a large (like the HP45)...in Warrior...I'm a medium and still need suspenders. Ordered a PP90C shell and while it is a great shell (well-made, extra padding, leg zips) large was big. It was like a 5 year old trying on daddy's pants big! Sent it back for a medium...bullseye 😎 Here are my current questions going forward: 1-How will other brands of girdle-specific shells fit? Since the ST is smaller...will I want a medium? I assume an actual ST CCM brand girdle shell would be a large since they come new with one. 2-Would a size small pant-specific girdle work? 3-I'm thinking about baselayer now...I am going to try McDavid and Nike padded shorts w/cup under, but...think it's going to be too hot with a Shock Doc underneath? I would love to not need a garter, but without the SDoc...nothing for sox. Any other words of wisdom regarding girdle usage...fire away. Hopefully we'll all be too busy to hang on this forum shortly cuz we'll be skating. I went from 6 days a week to...this🤬 I cannot wait! But I will👍!
  20. Buzz...your Triflex comment reminded me...I used Koko 221 Custom Pro sticks from 1975 through college ('82). That was "my twig," but they stopped making them. Then around 1995 or so I saw one...it was an updated version. Of course I bought it. That sucker had so much fibre de verre, I could laid two of them across a creek and driven my car to the other side! Also great for doing curls.
  21. I really dig my HP45 pants. I am trying a Super Tacks girdle...when it arrives. Hope it doesn't join this list🤣
  22. Since we can't dry land train all day...I'm taking a break, and asking (anyone else who's bored)...what piece of gear were you dying to get your hands on that ended up being disappointment. Not to say that it wasn't any good...it just wasn't any good for you! Me...I grew up with the game in the 70's on Long Island. Naturally, I was an Islander fan, and when I was about 14, I moved to defense and I absolutely idolized Denny Potvin! I've played D and worn #5 for my entire (now five decade) career. I wanted a Lange helmet (became Northland) sooooo bad because Denny wore one. Well...I saved my pennies, and went into the pro shop at Twin Rinks (my home rink), and boom...I got me one! I have never worn anything so heavy and uncomfortable on my head in my life! Maybe it didn't fit right, or maybe I had the wrong head shape, but getting ready for practice...I would dread putting this thing on! It was so heavy that when I turned my head fast, it felt like it was going to tear it right off my neck. Anyway...about three miserable weeks later...CCM Pro Standard and never looked back. Still wearing the descendants of that helmet. Hey...it worked for Bossy and Trottier...and they weren't too bad😉 Whatchoogot?
  23. My first pro gear...'77 Super Tacks...Cooper LIP Islanders gloves and Cooper pro pants (also Isles). Still have the pants and my second pair of LIP gloves...they're retired. Have to include Koho 221 Custom Pro...my stick until they stopped making them the old way. The last incarnation of the 221 had so much fiberglass...I felt like shooting with a piece of boat. Totally dig my new gear though...one of my old skates weighs more than both of my 2XPro's or AS1's!
  24. Hey All, Been playing forever (seems) and now I seem to have a lot of time on my hands😠. Historically, I'm a defenceman, and in college it was all about top-shelf wristers and boomers for me. That's where I scored...consistently. Now I'm playing in several leagues. Some are fairly intense and I can still shoot "my style." Some are more "rec-level" and the last thing I want to do is hurt somebody! I am trying to use this downtime we all seem to have to strengthen my weaker areas...for me...stickhandling, low corners, and 5 hole! Stickhandling...I got that...a lot of..uhhh...stickhandling practice. That one is a pretty straight return...I'm doing it a lot...it's getting better. On the other hand...I have a mat...a net...and a backstop in the garage. The net has a tarp on the front...cutouts for the corners and 5-hole. I can hit corners high all day with my eyes closed. I cannot consistently keep pucks low, and I can't hit the 5 for money! I'm all around it...inches...It's driving me nuts. I'm trying to follow through as close to the ice (ground) as possible, rolling my hands, transferring weight, back foot, front foot, being mindful of mechanics...I am getting better over the past few days keeping them low-er...but zero accuracy. Any suggestions short of asking my teammates to watch what I am doing and coach me...cuz that's gonna be a while it seems. Thanks folks!
