  1. I struggled with the Shift holders. After a few tries at profiling I eventually swapped them out for Tuuks and immediately felt at home.
  2. I’ve skated on Tuuks my entire life. When I got my True Customs I really wanted to give the whole setup a chance including the Shift. I could NOT get used to them. I struggled badly with the Shifts, especially backwards skating and transitions. I went so far as to profile the steel twice but it was just too much of an adjustment for me and I ended up swapping for Tuuk Edge. Felt 100% back to normal in 10 minutes. In fairness I know a few guys that had very little trouble adjusting and are enjoying their Shift holders.
  3. @Giltis, keep me posted. I’m ready to purchase soon.
  4. I replaced steel last season. My old steel was very short and I went to brand new LS4. Took me about 10 minutes to adjust. Everyone is different and there are other factors such as radius. It just happens that stock Bauer steel is usually fine for me out of the box. I guess what I’m saying is maybe don’t overthink it. Looks like you have plenty of steel left and a good shapener can help you get new steel dialed in when the time is right.
  5. Like a lot of people I am looking to get a full clear shield. I’m a Bauer fanboy so i’m inclined to just get theirs but was wondering if anyone has experience with both? Is one any better than the other?
  6. I just recently switched to True Custom from Supremes and didn’t notice the tendon guard. That being said the tendon guard has never been a focal point for me and I’ve never had any issues with range of motion on any Bauer skate I’ve been in, and I’ve been in a lot of them. Definitely no issues with range of motion in my Trues. One note, the True Customs do promote a bit more forward lean than Bauer and from what I can feel some of this comes from the way the back of the boot / heel area is designed. I don’t feel like I can lean back in my skate as far as in Bauer’s but honestly it’s a pretty small difference and I adjusted quickly and easily. Also another quick note I had to change out the Shift holders for Tuuk after trying for several weeks because I just wasn’t able to adjust to those things.
  7. Yes, same size holder. I was in Bauer Supreme NXG size 7ee with 263 Tuuks. And though True Custom does not list sizes the foot beds are labeled as 7 and my new Tuuks are also 263. The best I can guess just by looking is that 4 of the holes in the heel line up but they had to drill 2 new ones. In the front it looks like maybe 2 holes line up but it’s hard to see into the toe area. This goes got both sides
  8. I changed mine out. I wanted to give True a full chance including the Shift holder. It was extremely awkward from the first moment I stepped on the ice. For me the skates had a very aggressive forward lean with the heel feeling high. When skating it felt as though the ball of my foot was way ‘over’ the toe of the steel. I especially struggled while skating backwards. After about 3 frustrating skates the pro shop re-profiled the steel and moved the low point of the blade a bit forward. It helped marginally but I was never able to feel good skating backwards. After about 7 skates I finally gave in and had Tuuks put on. I felt back to normal in about 5 minutes. As a note the boot itself is built to promote a bit more forward lean compared to Bauer (which is all I have skated on for many years). But once I was back on Tuuks it was easy to adjust and I don’t notice anymore. My Customs on Tuuks are the most comfortable setup I’ve ever skated on
  9. I’ve had True Custom for a couple months now. I also felt like I was in high-heels and really struggled with them... especially skating backwards. It was so frustrating. I swapped out the Shift holders for Tuuk and felt like my old self again within 5 minutes. The skate still promotes a more forward lean than Bauer but with the Tuuks it was easily manageable and I don’t really notice anymore. I personally am of the opinion that the holders make a bigger difference than people give credit for.
  10. I think it’s weird that people on here think that equipment managers are pushing players into certain gear?!?! Pros get what they WANT. They try things, they talk to each other, they use what they like. And they are picky.
  11. I’m on my second HPR2. Really like this stick. Light, stiff blade, great overall feel. First one was 75flex but it was way too whippy so went with the 85 on the current one. Awesome bang for your buck.
  12. I would swim through a river of hot lava for a pair of 14” 4roll Cooper Techniflex TF1000 in nylon!!!
  13. I just switched from Bauer Supremes to True Customs and couldn’t tell you the difference regarding the soles. My Bauers were stiff and so are the Trues. That being said the Trues are very stiff all around and feel great! Because the bottom is also molded to my foot the fit is awesome.
