I've skated in Vapors for a long time now (9D, 280mm), and I grew very accustomed to the stock 9' radius. As I've gotten older I've realized I want a little more stability when I'm more upright, so I took them to our only local shop that I'd trust with skates (they specialize in skate stuff) and had them change the profile. While the guys at this shop are knowledgeable and professional, they have a very strong preference for CAG profiles as opposed to Prosharp (they do have a Prosharp machine but they actually license their own CAG machine design to some pro teams). After several return visits, I'm now skating on a 20/40 profile which I believe is pretty similar to a 10' radius. So it's not a very big change. I'm not unhappy, but it's not quite what I was looking for. I'm looking at finally replacing my Vapors with some Cat 9s (8.5, 272mm), and I think it might be time to revisit the profiling issue. What I'm looking for is the feeling of the 9' radius when I'm accelerating, but a little more stability and glide otherwise. Not a lot, just a little. I'm interesting in trying one of the multi-radii Prosharp options, but there are so many different versions it's hard to know what would work best. I'm curious if anyone can recommend something along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Can't remember exactly when the first Stealth came out (2010? 2011?), but $230 usd in 2010 is equivalent to $310 today.

I reached out to True today about the issue with the warped runners since I'm interested in buying a pair of Cat 9s soonish. They replied that any issues should be resolved now. They've sent replacement runners out to all of their dealers and their own inventory has been handled as well.

Thanks for this. How does the blade compare to previous offerings from Warrior, like the Alpha DX or LX? I really like the puck feel on those sticks.

I think it's fair to say that the current nomenclature is wrong and in the case of extended sticks misleading, but the alternative of trying to discuss flex and leverage as separate but related concepts is probably just as confusing for the average stick buyer. We need some new ideas for how to explain this in a simple way. But for the time being keeping the markings on the bottom of retail sticks is maybe the best bad option.

This is probably not a brand issue, but a sizing issue. Even though the Bauer X series is a recreational/beginner type line of gear, your daughter shouldn't be getting bruises. If possible, I would take her to a store and try on some different options and see what fits best. But be prepared for sticker shock.

For what it's worth, I've been using tennis racket overwrap on my sticks for about the last year and I don't think I'll ever go back. They're pretty lightweight and add just the right amount of tackiness and cushion. I can get 6 months out of a single wrap, and a pack of 6 costs $10 US on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R7LZJT3/).

Yep. Although my understanding is that the flex rating for extended sticks is based on the retail height (60"). So if you lop off the extra 4" off a 64" stick, the stick will have the same stiffness as a retail 60" stick. It's only if you continue cutting down the stick where the apparent stiffness will change.

I just received a pro stock P90T today from HockeyStickMan. Sort of reviving this thread as someone who's a long-time P88/W88 user looking for something with a bit more loft. I've tried both the P92 (True TC2) and the P28/W28, and the big thing that killed those curves for me was the rocker. As you can see in comparison to the pro stock W88 curve I've been using (white tape), the P90T (no tape) has a fairly similar length of flat spot to it, although it's a bit closer to the heel and has quite a bit more lift towards the toe. Unfortunately this P90T has a higher lie than the W88, so I'll be cutting it down a bit more than usual, but overall I'm hopeful this is what I've been looking for. Wanted to put this out there as a resource for other P88/W88 players looking for a change.

Ugh, yes, Warrior is awful at this. I really like how Ice Warehouse categorizes sticks: Elite, Performance, Recreational. Just makes so much sense to me, wish more manufactures would stick to just 3-4 price points. Worth noting that it looks like Warrior is going with just 3 price points for the new Novium line, which I think is a welcome change (Novium Pro, Novium, Novium SP).

Can only speak from my own experience, but I've had two pro stock DX sticks ("T8DX" build) since March and they are both still in great shape despite 2 games per week.

It's a mixed bag for sure, but there are definitely some people on there trying to help. I think you just have to go in with the understanding that it's reddit and a lot of the stuff on there is noise.

The only source I've been able to find suggests an early November release. Based on other stick lines at similar CAD pricing, I'm guessing $300 USD for the Novium Pro and $160 USD for the Novium. It looks like Warrior is skipping a stick at the LX 20/QR5 20 price point, and that matches up with the use of their RLC 133 construction in the regular Novium instead of the RLC 155 found in the LX 20 & QR5 20.

I just tried the Hossa pattern from PSHS and didn't care for it at all as a longtime P88 user. I, too, have been looking for a P88 alternative with a little more loft, but the Hossa pattern was just not it. Trying the P90T next (pro stock from HSM) and we'll see how it goes.

Have you heard a release date by any chance?

Anyone have insight as to the odd pricing in US ($760 usd) vs Canada ($799 cad)? Even after factoring in the higher Canadian sales tax, it would be significantly cheaper to purchase from a retailer in Canada and ship to the US given the exchange rate. Edit: some online retailers in Canada appear to be selling the Cat 9s at $799 and others at $860

Has anyone gone from Fit 1 Vapors to these? I've been in Vapors for 15 years, and my current pair is a 9.0R (from before the Fit 1/2/3 era, which I believe means I'd be in a Fit 1 today). Just curious for anyone's experience, as I'm very interested in trying the Catalyst skates.

I appreciate the response. In my defense, I did do a search and also found the source for sports listing, but was just wondering if anyone had additional information about them, especially the kick point and perhaps the anticipated release date. Apologies if this post is redundant.

Warrior has announced a new stick line, "Novium". Sorta hoping it's a new mid-kick line since I absolutely loved the Dynasty sticks. Just curious if anyone here has more details about it.
