  1. I mean you should be calculating work and not some mass value multiplied by a frequency. So let's not get all high fivey yet.
  2. SOL if you want an intermediate A series.... Oh well. Guess I'll burn money one something else.
  3. Thanks Shayne. I think I'm still in the same boat on what I should start with. Im a small defenseman that relies on speed, and will often use that to lead the rush, pass it off below the net, and get back to the blue line once it's in the zone. I'm seeking gains in stability first and acceleration second. My holder size is.... 238. That's the part that makes me nervous, since the more interesting profiles like the quads stop at 254.
  4. So, does anyone know a vendor that didn't miss the deadline? I like trues sticks, but I can't buy what I can't find.
  5. Ffs 60 mph? I shot clappers that fast, clocked at an MSH event. And I can't shoot to save my life. Lolol.
  6. Not to mention when you take a slap shot, you strike the ice to load the stick and will encounter forces far higher than that of the air resistance.... It's solving a problem that doesn't need to be solved.
  7. You'll learn the pain from the plate is there to stay... I'm 9 years out from mine, I still get twinges every now and then (it's fairly seldom, maybe two twinges a month), and a handful of sore days in the area of the plate, per year. It's more nuisance than anything. You'll have to learn what's okay to feel. Just keep your head down and do everything therapy says, you be at full performance in no time.
  8. ...that's nice? Stewie: how well do you know the person that sat in the interview? If its a situation where you had a good rapport, and is part of why you were interviewing, I'd reach out. If you know them, its ok to say "man I blew that question, I got tripped up, I get so nervous". Sometimes awareness is a good thing, and all that it takes.
  9. At least old man Kowalski is consistent with drinking the haterade
  10. By that logic, the NHL never would have approved composite sticks. Not saying this stuff works, but the NHL isn't in the business of blocking things that make them perform better, so long as it's not a chemical acting on the body.
  11. do i need to go through a shop?
  12. does step offer any sort of warranty? I had steel crack in half, with no discernable explanation.
  13. I mentioned this to the Bauer rep at winter fest... I really think they exercised poor judgment when labeling the steel for the new edge system (The steel itself only says ls2, catalog says ls2 edge). How many people will call shops asking for ls2, and require the edge variant? Or their parents head into the shop, and don't know that they've got the new version... Or old version... Sure competent shop employees talking to competent customers can get it right, but yeah.... Like that ever happens.
  14. Easton S19 Gloves, 2010 Model Size : 13" Time Used: 3 months (twice a week, couple stick times, tournaments) Fit: I like the anataomical type fit on the back of the hands with the adjustable cuff. The first few uses the gloves fit a bit rigid, it almost had a rubbery/plastic feel to it. First game I wore them was the start of the tournament, where I played 4 games, then played about another 3 before they felt 'normal' (this was in august in north carolina, so I sweat quite a bit in them). The first three games were probably the toughest, and was fearing i made a bad choice. Getting past that hump, they've been nothing but comfortable. 8.5/10-- Points docked for uncomfortable break in period, I came from 2009 s11's previously, where i did not have this problem. Weight & Mobility: the glove yielded great dexterity in flexion on all of the fingers, full dexterity with respect to extension was not optimal until the 7 game break in period. the gloves are light, and never have been observed to gain mass from sweat and melted ice. The adjustable cuff provides the ability to modify where the back end of the cuff lies, which could open things up for some players, the glove is used with fully extended cuffs and has not impeeded any wrist motion. 9.5/10 Protection: No shots or signficant blows to the hand have been recieved. The glove seems protective enough to suit my tastes, I've never felt uncomfortable in the glove. The thumb needs improvement, slack needs to be removed and the protection needs to be pushed inward (or wrapped around the thumb better). I feel as though my thumb sticks a little too low, making it the leading edge, exposing too much to sticks, or pucks, coming up the shaft of the stick in hand. I lost my thumb nail this way in an older pair of gloves. 7/10 -- points lost for thumb protection not fitting closer to thumb. Durability: Tackimacks have been used through the life of this glove, and no palm wear has been seen. the material on the body of the glove has no visible wear. some of the trim is starting to fray slightly. 9/10 Palm: Tackimacks have been used through the life of this glove, and no palm wear has been seen. The stretch gussets could use a material with a higher youngs modulus, in order to increase the tension. the palm does not transmit slight nuances in puck feel the way that I would desire. 5/10 -- points docked for gussets stretching too much and palms generally feeling "dead" Intangibles: If i really didnt need a pair of gloves, I would have put this pair back, and grabbed another. But, perhaps, mine are not exclusive to the sloppy manufacturing. There's pieces of excess material everywhere along a ton of the seams. I would expect to find gloves that look like this in the bin at marshalls or tj maxx. whether my gloves are the exception, or the rule, it comes down to poor quality control. 3/10 -- Points docked for sloppy cosmetic issues, something that shouldnt happen on the high end of the product line Overall: The glove fit is great, the glove function is great. Theres a tweak to the thumb that I'd make, theres some cosmetic quality control issues with respect to excess material, and the palms are a bit quirky. If the gloves were something like $30 less, I'd be thrilled with them i guess. Easton has room for improvement. 7/10
  15. seriously. he's a really good defenseman, ok. lol.
  16. I like how the guy who buys a piece of shit composite stick, and has a broken blade after 4 months wanted to lecture me on how he felt like it was a really solid and well made stick, and that he tapes his stick really well, and that the blade shouldnt be broken in a million pieces. and that he's a defenseman, and that as a super awesome defneseman he needs a square toe to pull pucks off the boards, and that the pattern was perfect, and the stick was the right weight, and was the perfect pattern and was a defenseman so he needs a solid stick and that he really was disappointed that he got four months of use and that he really is disappointed, and that he's a defenseman and he poke checks. And that his last composite stick was really great until the shaft snapped and that he bought it for less, used at $60 yeah. he bought a muskoka composite stick. and his previous used stick for $60 was a TPS. i was like, "well, yeah TPS is a better stick." "well then why are you selling a stick that isnt as good?" "because they're cheap, and some people like spending less money on composites" "well this is carbon fiber, this shouldnt be breaking like this, i mean look it's really well made" (obviously) i almost went all materials sciencey on his ass and tell him my expert opinion based on my research experience... then decided to say "sorry" and he said he'd tape it really good (blade was oblitereated, three or four cracks) and keep using it, since it was so perfect. Later on... i see his ass lining up opposite me as a forward. so much for being that awesome defenseman. and yes, he was using that stick. I was tempting tipping off the refs and getting a penalty called on him for playing with illegal equipment. but i didnt. I'll save that for a playoff game, now that i know who he plays for.
  17. we were a bit busy... all of our inlines are out on the floor, so a customer and his helps themself to trying them on (for the kid, so maybe he's the customer?)... one of the other guys rings him up, and notices as he's handing the box back that it's a size 11 rx:15, and sees the kid the first time and says: "you know this equates to roughly a size 12 or 13 in shoe size, right?" (kid is under 6', maybe 15 years old) dad:"really?" me: "im free now, why dont i size him up and make sure we get him something that fits better" I measure him up at a hair over 7.0 on a bauer scale, and the rx 15s have been fitting maybe a half size bigger than the ice bauers weve had... So i put the kid in an 8 since they wanted some room. me: "hows taht feel?" kid: "yeah they feel better i guess" me" you want to lace them up? see if they fit well?" kid: "i guess" then the kid just kind of sits there. he's 15, I'm not going to tie his skates, i laced the things before i gave it to him, as i should... dad finally bends down and ties his skates after i suggested tying them a second time. dad: "so do they fit?" kid: "yeah they feel good" i'm thinking at this time, yeah, well he thought a friggen 11 felt good.... like his opinion matters. so as the kid is wheeling a little trying them, i show that dad on the scale... we went from here |------------------| to here... it was enormous. dad's expression was priceless... we did the exchange and off they went. I just dont get how an 11 can feel right when an 8 fits with room...
