  1. Hummm 50" flat screen or portable sharpener????? Hummmmm
  2. You can go back and forth but I really cant see why you would after trying it! Any chance of it coming to the Hamilton store? I don't see many extended roadtrips for skate sharpenings...mind you, gas is cheaper these days...Hmmm! Come on there Radio.....Oakville is what like 25 min away going down the mountain the new way???LOL Besides Hamilton doesnt have that machine yet. Although it will be the next store to get one!

  4. Neat: http://www.epinions.com/msg/sec_~forums/sh...316/pp_~4#posts Look at the last post there That was my post!@.....
  5. Ok here is the next thing he should notice at his age then. In a game situation or a long practice he should not feel as worn out muscle wise at the end of the game. Mentally he may be pooped as he is trying hard but his muscles will have to work less. |\___/| | | This is what he is skating on now compared to a traditional Sharpening were it is the |\ /| | \_/ | | | OK so the second picture isnt the best !! But you get the picture that you have no choice but to sink further in the Ice on anything 5/8ths or sharper. Were as witht he FBV double hollow you sit more on the ice. I would have to agree that more weight will make a difference after thing about it more. Ok when I previewed it it would come up the way I wanted
  6. Oh of course not arguing.........I guess in my mind it depends on height weight and such.
  7. How old is he and what level of player? Oh yes and how much does he weigh? Not to mention the fact that some people notice their edges more than others. Truly think if you dont tell them what your doing and do a blind test you really can tell the difference. i guess I am sort of lucky having a room at the rink and being able to do the test and get instant results.

  9. Actually JR I had a similar situation and went the longer ones. I just shaved the extra plastic off on the cross grind it fit just fine. I also did Kristen King's skates (Team USA Women's Team) and she had a 1.5 skate and I put a size 3 Tuuk holder and runner on there. Worked very very well. It just takes some trimming. Also JR did you look at "Dannys" skates they had 280's on there and were trimmed to fit.
  10. Now available at the Markham store as well. The only stores set up for it will be (BUT NOT YET) Brampton Mississauga (Dixie) Concord Barrie Stores that have it now Oakville Markham
  11. Yes that is correct you may love the 95/100 right from the get go as I did. However I am telling you for overall speed you have to try the 75/100 its the bees knees just takes a little getting used to with the extra sharpness but the glide is amazing.
  12. Best to ask Steve from Blackstone hard to explain. The 75/100 from what i understand feels like your skating on a 2" hollow when going straight but it has an edge similar to a 3/8ths on the outside edge |\___/| looking something like this....instead of the typical U shape from most hollows. You dont sink in the ice as deep but you have the bite when you need it on corners.
  13. National Sports on Dorval and QEW. I would suggest you try the 75/100 first if that is to much bite on the edge then try the 95/100 but the glide on the 75/100 is just amazing my kid loves it. I did some of the players from the Oakville AA team Minor Midget I think it was and they all loved it.
  14. What's the proper term/typical word to use north of the border? Sorry...was just joking around I have only ever heard of getting your skates sharpened and in the now "old School method" putting a hollow in the blade. Of course now with this new method not sure what to call it ..LOL FBV.... Well if you are anywhere near Oakville Ontario you are lucky it is available there.
  15. Well if your in Canada you would be in luck.......but using the word "grind" (not typical in Canada) I would say your not from Canada and are out of luck.
  16. Yes, and it will cut down on how long it takes to sharpen a goal skate (w/ regards to deep hollows) JR I took the plunge and ordered 3 different FBV spinners. I tried the middle one tonight and wow...skating from the blue line to the red I was able to coast all the way around to wear I started. And in talking to Steve after I noticed another thing My knee (arthritis in it) didn't hurt as usual. Although my back was a little sore. After talking we decided you may have to change the center point of the blade as you feel further back after switching the the FBV (don't ask me why). It was also sore because I had more energy from putting out less effort to run the practice and shot a ton more pucks. I think we have a winner here. "how long does it last"? Well I have to say after an hour and 1/2 it still looked like it had not even been skated on. The whole team is getting there's done now as a trial.
  17. to anyone whos worn both xxx's and 9ks .... how do the sizes match up? say im a 7.5 in the xxx's would i be a 7.5 in the 9ks or would it be a 7? Well lets go back a bit. the CCM Tack did until last year have the narrowest heel counter. If you go with an Easton 900 say it also has a narrow heel counter. For those that have said that the 9K wont work because its wide and the pump does nothing I totally disagree. I have a AA heel and just got mine and am coming from a Custom pair of G35's and the fit is much tighter. (with the bladder blown up of course). I had to get custom XXX for a player on our team with a AAA heel and EE toe and they fit me perfectly and would take them if the owner would give them up.....(not going to happen...LOL). As for the size I am a 9 mens shoe and am in a XXX 6 3/4 (perfect fit) 9K is a 6 1/2 (alittle extra room) G35 is a 6 5/8ths (as above) But still like the 9K best.
  18. Well your reasearch is incorrect. Sorry. The RBK is in fact the closest to the 8090 in fit espically in the arch and heel area.
  19. The tighter your skates the less room your toes have to let the cool air cool your feet. Plus with to socks and a skate that isto big or ill fitting you could get an ankle sprain if your socks slip inside the skate......just not a good thing to do!
  20. Thats usually why you get cold toes. Boots to tight or bad circulation. I agree....never wear 2 pairs of socks...if your toes are cold you usually have a skate thats to big.
