Just a slight correction. "Just remember that Superfeet don't properly support everyone's foot." Support and fit are 2 different things. They will support anyone's foot if fitted properly. However you are correct in saying some may not like the support and may need custom orthodics or in some cases nothing but the stock insole.

I would recommend she use the 90/50 for the figures...if the store you go to normally doesnt have it let me know and I can meet you there!

Depends on how you skate and how much you let your edges degrade with a traditional sharpening. I am having a hard time with all these people needing them to be sharpened so much I am on for 2 hours a min of 2 times a week and have sharpened mine 2 times since January? Now my players need it more often as they are knocking skates against objects and they are playing JR A but for the average guy I cant see they need to be done so often?

If I was an ME dealer I would use both the FBV and the ME system and I think it would be even better than anything out there. Before FBV the finish and the system used with ME was pretty much the best "PROGRAM" out there IMO. How does it differ from the profiling that I get from No Icing? I'm just trying to get educated. Is there a place I can find that explains the difference between ME and what I am using now, which is No Icing combo? My son really has no issues at all with that part, but I am really interested in the difference bewteen the two. Thanks for your information, trainer, I appreciate it. I looked on the ME site itself it is very limited on info. I cant answer that as I dont know No Icings form of profiling and how they do it!

I love how some people learn and try and learn more about a new system.....(FBV) bring it in to their stores use it and then ooops all of a sudden a whole bunch of stores in the GTA with (High End Sharpeners) go and buy the machine when some of us have had it for almost a year......but because of who we are we dont have a clue....????? And all this time the above High End Guys dished it off as a fad.... "it will never last" "I can do the same thing on my machine" and about 100 other lines.....of BS. We will see who has the last laugh....LOL

I dont agree.....I would love to charge a ton of money but with times as they are.......I think offering a customer something better for the same or a light bit more is a better idea!~ I mean there is a difference between charging more and double your normal price....I mean some guys are charging $10.

So what is everyone charging for the FBV? More Less or the same as the regular sharpening they have now?

I have to concur with Chadd as I did one of the teams I am working with and didnt even tell them. Some of these players are going D1 next year and others are going Pro. Now I did it the first time in a regular season didnt matter game and they won but only a couple guys said can i go sharper and or duller. Now in the 3rd round of the playoffs and just knocking out the number 1 team they are all believers. Not only was the team they knocked off first in the league but something like 8 th in the country. Is it all the sharpening???? No there a well coached bunch of hard working players......but all of them including the 3 top players NEVER want to change after the season....

If you had the FBV put on from a regular sharpening on the previous time it will not last longer. The second FBV will. Or you can try a slight cross grind on the skating surface and then sharpen works wonders!

I use the 100/50 with a couple of my players and it seems that all need to be shaprened about the same amount. It depends on the ice the roughness of the game on how often they need to be sharpened. It does seem i am getting one extra skate out of each pair before re-sharpening. The other bonus is that on the fresh sharpening there is less issue with it being done as they arent sinking in as far. Most of the time its the 100/75 players that have the issues when they were on there normal 3/8ths. Now with the FBV 100/75 there is really 0 issues they get right into the game. With the OPJHL team I work with all the guys on the FBV scored in the first round one had a 5 point game I believe! I didnt tell them till after the first round it was the FBV. They all had me shapren skates before so they just thought they were getting the same thing as they used to. After the last game I asked one of the leading scorers if he noticed a diffrence and he said " yah not sure what it was I just felt faster" I said so you felt like you can get around guys easier after that first step past them? " yah it was weird it was good though what did you do?" So I explained the whole system now there all pumped to start the 2nd round!

Both my goalies are on the 90/50 and in fact both said there was to much bite (they were on 7/8ths before) So I just robbed the back 2/3rds past the toe with a little steel wool and they love it. The can do the skating drills without being as tired. That and the bite on the toe is better for sliding across. Both goalies are going to be on scholarships one in the US and one in Canada so they are pretty damn good goalies. I also did one that plays in the OP and he had a 3/8ths before and I did them at 100/75 and he just went nuts when he got on the ice. said the bite was way better than a normal 3/8ths and the glide was awesome and he skates ALOT when playing!

I would suggest trying the 100/75 just for shits and giggles....you will get the bite you want for sure.....maybe a little to much but I would try it!

I have had a couple high end players tell me the same thing. I ended up doing them a second time and this resolved the issue. For some reason if you dont do the job very well the first time the bite just isnt there as it should be. I would highly suggest if going from a regular hollow to the FBV you cross grind first (not a fan of cross grinding) but it seems to work the best to get the hollow in there properly. If it still doesnt work or feel as good as you would like I would try the next hollow up or sahrper on the FBV and if that is till an issue i would adjust your Profile ever so slightly! I have olnly had a handful of people want to go back to the regular and the only reason is they Ref and do it internationally and cant take me with them......YET...LOL

What I was implying was not the use of the "medium" forward pitch, 8/13 compound radius(that would be what you are claiming I implied). I was implying a common use of a compound radius with a forward pitch, in general. TBL, I think your point is well-taken. The fact is that people are always looking for anything that will improve their skating ability. This is evidenced by the huge interest in FBV. Similarly, a combo radius alleges to provide some sort of advantage over a standard factory radius. Thus, people are willing to make a change for the sake of change. As someone stated above, I'm sure Bob's experience has allowed him to formulate an idea as to what combination will generally work for people based on height, weight, experience, etc. Whether it works in a small or large percentage of cases is anyone's guess. I would be a lot more skeptical if Bob wasn't willing to redo your radius free of charge if the initial one doesn't work out. In my case, the radius Bob gave me improved my skating ability. That is certainly not to say it is the ideal setup for me. In fact, I'm sure that it's not. However, given my lack of options as far as LHS's go, I feel that it's the best option I have at this point in time. OTG, if someone walks into your shop and says, "I currently use a 1/2" ROH, I want whichever FBV hollow is most similar." What do you tell them? Just for a trust factor i would say 100/75 as they would have more issue not being able to stop than having a little to much bite. Either way if they dont like it come back and no charge!

Let me jump in for a sec ... I would think Bob has seen most every type of skater there is with his years of experience ... and he probably designed his questionaire with that experience in mind. So why would he have to see you skate, when 99.9 % of people skate like someone he's already seen ? If you fill out the questionaire accurately, you should get good results with whatever profile is recommended. Sorry even Bob whom I dont know to well would agree that if you saw someone skate you would be much more accurate. I make a living at doing both and I can tell somewhat from the appearance of the skate how or what maybe going on. But once on the ice you actually see them skate then you can say with 100% accuracy that that profile will be perfect. I would bet Bob would agree that he is about 85% using the questionnaire. I mean its not total rocket science however its how the skate works with the foot and so on, Arch, Heel, and the rest of the fit. Then you throw in the proper profile and Bang you have perfection.!...and even then sometimes not!

And I am sure more to come. 100/75 90/75 100/50 90/50 and I believe there is an 80/50 If I can just comment on the compound Radius. IMOP if your going to do something like a 7/14. I personally feel to much blade will disappear to quickly when sharpening. I have only done a few and haven't had a ton of positive response. Although I am very much in agreement behind the compound radius.

So what I am hearing from you guys is....I should have more of my stores with the FBV sharpening?? Who is on the GTA or Ontario??? I can do London Barrie Brampton Markham (has it already) Concord (has it already) Oakville (has it already) Mississauga (Dundas Location) Cambridge (coming in Feb) Whitby (coming in Feb) And possibly more next year.... I was in to my LHS in Scarborough last night and they now offer the FB-V. The store is called Hockey Experts (Kennedy Commons) Kennedy Rd and hwy 401. Your Welcome......all the same company!

I have no idea you would have to ask SAK as I do not work with those guys at all. I am hoping to get one at Scarborough for next season!

Your experience is odd, we've found that skaters are actually getting more interval between sharpenings. There are so many variables involved, so it's kind of hard to actually quantify, I guess time will tell. As for my customers (another 82 converted this week) I haven't had anyone come in earlier for re-sharpening (although that would be nice for $$$ in my pocket) than usual. We've renamed the FBV, the UFB! Un (you insert word here) Believable! Oh, ... Fence?? That's so 1970's! Jimmy, not sure if its the Ice here or the grit and grime around the rink. But even with my own team I have found not that it needs it more but I am doing it the same amount for my players although I have to do half the passes as I did before. Although travelling to some of the rinks watching ref's and players I have done and talking to them the most common thing is they wish there was a 95/75..... Hint to you know who.,.....!

Thats great you you want to come back and buy more but I would really try to skate more games. Also ask the guys to do a couple extra passes or PM me and let me know what store to suggest some other methods to enhance what your getting now!

We could do a team meeting and evaluate the teams skating and try a couple kids at random and see what they say! As I have my portable.
