It will go into effect after this season, so it should have no impact on their current cap situation. The NHL will reject the contract

A very large percentage of the bad hits over the last couple years involve guys getting on the railroad tracks to make a big hit and then reacting poorly when the other guy tries to avoid the hit. If they can't deliver a clean hit, they have to give up on making a hit.

I can't think of anyone in the NHL with worse luck than Cole. You have to feel for this guy and all of the things that have happened to him.
-
They only have to clear a little over $6M to fit his contract under the cap.
-
Each sharpening will take a little longer, nothing to worry about.

Way too many sports fans just want to hate someone or something.

Much like you, the Leafs didn't show up for the first two periods

NHL record for goals in a season: 446, 83-84 Edmonton Oilers

Do you normally get blacked out of Flyer games on center ice with Fios? I've had it with Comcast and blacking out everything other than the Flyers. Yeah, same deal with FiOS. Had a couple other games on last night but the Flyers/Canes game was blacked out. Had to resort to watching the game through the website RiseOnFire linked to in the NHL Network thread. I got the Flyers game on center ice but was blacked out of the Pens and Rangers. Funny thing is the Flyers are 90 miles from here and the Pens are 200.

The questions are if Emery will go mental or fall apart first and when it will be.

I can only imagine what this team could be with a guy like Pronger on the blue line, or even a couple of legitimate top four NHL defensemen. Green is great offensively bit is not good enough in his own end to be a true #1 and there isn't another top four guy on the blue line. Who would you take out of the current lineup in order to make room for him? I just don't see where he could fit.

Seriously? Both would obviously have to clear waivers. Finger's contract is so bad that I can't imagine anyone claiming him on the way down, re-entry waivers is another story though if they try to call him back up. I don't think Exelby would clear waivers and I really don't expect to see him sent down.

He did his job tonight, big right hand half way through the first.

That's actually pretty good for surgery on Tuesday. My next step is taking a plane ride before my next appointment. When's your next appointment? Next week
-
We can provide the information to Blackstone if they are interested in adding it to their site.

it's also on NHL net tonight in the US

Don't take his response in a bad way. It sounds like he's been burnt before, e.g. answering peoples questions, they they screw him by opening their little under the table side business, often at prices lower than his, and then taking many of his customers with them. So I can see why he's gun-shy of helping you. Nothing wrong with being a home sharpener but don't expect your local guy to help you get your mini-business going. I'm not saying at all that's what you are doing, but as I said, he's prob been burnt a few times. It used to drive me nuts when people would come in and tell me that they were buying a sharpener so they could save money on sharpenings and make a couple bucks on the side, then ask me for tips. Of course, the same guys would also order tape by the case online and sell it for slightly less than our price. Then they wondered why we wouldn't give them a discount in the shop.

I managed to walk all the way around the block without feeling like I was going to hurl. Pretty f-'n sad when that's the high point of the week.

I agree about the top four and Exelby, the bit about Van Ryn makes sense as well. If the Leafs could get anything for Finger, I think he would be gone. The problem is that you just can't pay a number five or six defenseman the kind of money that he makes. It wouldn't surprise me to see Finger head to the Marlies, the only way he moves is through a waiver claim or a re-entry claim at half price. Funny that the Leafs suddenly have a really solid top six on the blue line now.

Are they new style or could they be left over from last season? Did Lang wear Warrior last year? You mean, "Did Warrior make some for Lang last year?"

The Leafs have way too many third line guys and not enough first or second line guys. With any luck they can deal some of their quantity for quality.

Kessel has been traded for exactly that. Cap reality bites. Chicago will find out next off season. Do you really have to start rubbing it in already? Can't I have just one more your to enjoy the Hawks not sucking before things start going down hill?
