  1. Saw the new Mako protective at TotalHockey today. The shoulder pads were interesting, though they didn't have my size, as we're the shins. I wasn't a huge fan of the elbows, but I'm not a good person to evaluate elbow pads, I'm very picky and still using 15 year old elbow pads.
  2. Fair point, but it's more narrow than the TotalONE D width.
  3. Damn. Oh well, guess that means I don't need to wait for these to come out then. As for CCM, they don't fit me well at all in the forefoot and the depth. It seems like the only options I have that fit me right are the TotalOne (since its available in a C to fit my narrow forefoot) or the 705/g5.
  4. I understand that, I'm just wondering if it is going to work for the shape of my heel or if mine is too straight to fully settle in the heel pocket. For instance, we all know the totalone fits wider than the vapor, but the heel of the totalone is straighter and the heel of the vapor is a little more pronounced, as a result, when I put my foot in each skate the heel of the vapor feels wider to me (even though it really isnt) because my heel doesn't settle properly in the pocket. I'm hoping I won't have the same issue with the mako because I would really like to try the skate.
  5. From the looks of the shape of the back the skates seems to have a fairly pronounced heel shape. Is this real or is it just optical due to the forward cant of the skates? I have a very straight heel shape, even the Vapor is too pronounced to lock my heel down, but I'm really hoping to be able to wear these as the concept behind them seems to be exactly what I've been wanting.
  6. I'm in the process of leaving my wife and it's absolutely killing me. I'm walking around numb all day. And the fact that she swings from violently (literally) angry and drunk to her sweet, normal, sober persona 12 hours later, makes me feel like the bad guy for abandoning her. I'm just sick about all of this, but I really have no other choice. I was going to leave a month ago but she turned on the tears and begged me to give her another chance, so I did, and I have no idea how I'm going to react when I go to move my stuff out and she does the same thing again. I don't know where to find the strength to see her cry and still walk out the door.
  7. Am I correct in my understanding that the modifications to the iginla pattern are going to make it similar to Bauer's p88? If so I might be interested in trying it. I've tried the p88 a couple times and liked the curve, but always felt the bottom had too much rocker so it never felt like I had enough blade on the ice.
  8. Bauer really pissed me off with the bure p10 transition. I loved the bure p10 in the black wood blades, but when they went to ops, the started calling the p10 the gagne, and they tweaked it and I couldn't stand the new p10. I've been bouncing between patterns ever since.
  9. You can order them online - shipped direct to your door http://shop.tastykak...ollections.aspx Back when I was in prep school and college in New England, they weren't available up there, but my stepmother's company sold them shipping boxes. So every so often she would send me cases (12 boxes of 12 packs) of them, straight off the production line. Absolutely incredibly fresh and couldn't be beat.
  10. Does anyone have access to the MLX sizing chart? It looks like they took the website down
  11. Picked these up off eBay http://s1005.photobucket.com/albums/af175/jhoffman27/?action=view&current=KGrHqVHJFE636eh1BP2-ptDpg60_12.jpg http://s1005.photobucket.com/albums/af175/jhoffman27/?action=view&current=KGrHqRHJCQEOGYDomFBP2-lLK7g60_12.jpg http://s1005.photobucket.com/albums/af175/jhoffman27/?action=view&current=KGrHqVpsE-zm-pQYBP2-t5D60_12.jpg They look to be in great shape. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but I always said if I found a pair in my size in decent shape I would pick them up.
  12. I think the point is that while the kid is a strong skater and him using zc means that it obviously works as a sharpening method, there isn't anything in the video that would allow someone to get an understanding as to whether or not it works better than other sharpening methods for that kid, or anyone. Just because he likes it doesn't necessarily mean its better in an objective sense, it just feels better to him, but it's possible that he would be faster or turn quicker on one of the other sharpening methods. I think that's where the bodybuilding anology comes from - just because it works for the kid and hes a good skater doesn't mean it'll make someone else a better skater. Personally, I'm interested in trying it,I'm using FBV now but I've never found it to be that starkly different than traditional roh like some have so maybe this will be give me that aha! Moment that a lot of people got with FBV.
  13. My wife does this all the time, no matter the subject the random person online knows more than me because he took the time to post it online. Drives me up a friggin wall
  14. Brind'Amour still looks like he's ready to put someone through the boards.
  15. Damn - I wish I had been back in Philly to pick up a pair of those long shells.
  16. People at the gym who ask you how many sets you have left in the middle of a rep. Are you so self absorbed that you think it's ok that i might get hurt because you distracted me 3/4 of the way into a squat with 300+ lbs on my back or are you just that oblivious to everything going on around you? Your time is that valuable that you can't wait 30 seconds till I'm done my set?
  17. Don't get your hopes up too high - I went to Daytona for SB in college and was massively disappointed with the quality of the females. Cancun and south padre had much better talent.
  18. Dont be ashamed, that kind of stuff happens in recovery. The key is not to allow it to become a pattern. Getting sober is hard, staying sober is harder, but the rewards are worth the effort.
  19. I have a Sher-Wood Damphousse pro stock from about 2003 that has a similar curve to that Jagr.
  20. You've really had no problems toting gear? What about sticks? Any chance you have tried carrying golf clubs? The reason I ask is that I'm buying a new car and have it down to a really low mileage 09 Carrera or an MB E550 coupe. The MB has a ton more cargo room, but driving the Porsche is just so sweet I don't know if I can say no.
  21. I'm not quite sure I follow what you mean when you say GEAR "reshaped the industry". I remember seeing GEAR sticks occassionally on websites in the early days of the OPS, but thats pretty much all I saw of them. I don't have any clue about their price points, quality, or quantity sold. Is there any way you can elaborate on what you mean when you say they reshaped the industry?
  22. What's the lie like on those Giroux's?
  23. Can people actually pull them out? Today was the first time I saw them in person and after reading this thread I tried to pull it out just to see it but it seems to me like you would need a heatgun to get it out.
