  1. For those unfamiliar: http://www.gohocks.com/hockey/index.php
  2. Absolutely. That thing was hideous.
  3. There were a select few who could pull it off...
  4. Was the advantage of this handle obvious when you played goalie? Better control, and less chance of losing your stick when throwing out a poke check I suppose? As far as I can tell the advantages would be lesser likelihood of losing the stick on a pokecheck, clearance off the ice to make the stick easier to pick up, and the ability to have your blocker sit on the ice when putting your stick along the ice (parallel to the ice).
  5. http://www.eaglehockey.com/goal/images/goalsticks2.jpg Curtis Curve?
  6. That "screwdriver" sounds very familiar. I think my dad may have bought me one when I was a little tyke. It also reminds me of the time my blade was beginning to split the shaft, so he put 3 screws through the shaft and hosel to hold it together. Pops always had the quick fix...
  7. How did those lockjaws work again? Didn't you expand the hosel by turning a screw in the bottom of the blade or something like that?
  8. The other day I was thinking about equipment that didn't quite live up to its producer's hype. The two that immediately came to mind for me were the RBK 9k O-Stick and the CCM X-Ray Helmet. Perhaps Tuuk Lightspeed 2 Power Holders. What else fits in the discussion? (Edit - Try to include a picture if it's something most wouldn't recall)
  9. Anyone who thinks that a machine capable of sharpening skates more effectively than humans is inconceivable - even with current technology - is sorely mistaken. Feasibility is another issue. To say that the notion of a mechanical, self-sufficient skate sharpener should conjure images of The Terminator, however, would be to speak from utter ignorance. But this is a ridiculous discussion in the first place... has anyone had a customer ask for two drastically different ROHs on their two skates?
  10. Nicely put, JJ. Anybody hear of any tactics to combat these problems - something more substantial than just charging for skate sizing?
  11. Same pattern going into all of them?
  12. Missed the one90 hiding with the Eastons. Waiting on the blade haul now, eh?
  13. Helmet - Blacked-out Bauer 5000 with Itech pro straight visor Shoulders - Cooper XL 3 Gloves - Pro-stock Anaheim Ducks NBH 4-Rolls Pants - NBH Pro-stock University of Michigan (with black NBH shell) Skates - NBH XXXX Sticks - Easton S17 87 flex, Sakic pattern; NBH one90 77 flex, p92
  14. That was a mod that I saw them doing at the factory in St-Jerome when I went there. Basically a few pros were getting cuts in their legs from the edges of the boot digging into their skin (a problem I used to have with Bauer skates and still have the scar) so sewing that softer foam on there makes it feel a bit better. Yikes. You couldn't do any self-modding to rid yourself of that problem - or at least wear socks or something?
  15. Nice bounty. Anything remarkable about the skates?
  16. And they only set me back about a month's worth of food. How I've missed you, Ramen Noodle Diet. Edit - Assumed you were talking about mine. Shame on me if I was wrong.
  17. I don't care for the branding on the thumb. Other than that, those mittens look excellent.
  18. dude you played for WBHS? I managed the shop at OLSM Haha, yeah - I had the misfortune of playing for WB. I try not to think about it. That's a solid shop they've got over there at OLSM though.
  19. I'm sure those pine tree air fresheners are doin' wonders for ya, haha.
  20. Gotcha. For the record, I wasn't questioning their validity. Just curious.
  21. Why do the twigs have UPCs?
  22. High school. Reached my peak at the tender age of 17.
  23. Yeah. With that in mind, I was wondering why you (Forbs) weren't allowing the U18s to get 3/8. Seems to me like that'd be ideal for many, if not most, players that light.
