Demo the Synnergy Skate?

Recommended Posts

Someone on the Easton Message Board asked if there was a way one could demo the Synnergy Skate (and then went on to ask if he got to keep the demo for free, um, yeah...) so I merely laughed and dismissed it as the stupidity with which it appeared to be.

However, apparently one can actually demo/try the skate for a while for free. I don't know the details other than you go to www.eastonhockey.com and click on the banner. It will tell you some dealers near your zip/town that participate in the program. I would imagine you'd have to put a deposit down (equal to the cost of the skates) to try it out.

I have to wonder if they bake them?

Regardless, it's the first program of it's kind to my knowledge on such a large basis (I mean, some LHS MIGHT let you try it, but largely you had to buy it to try it).

Anyway, something worth checking out if anyone was on the market for new skates and wanted to try the latest/greatest first to make sure it was kosher (before plunking down $400-500 bucks).

Most Higher end Easton dealers were givn a size run of synergy skates to let people try for a few skates, before making a buying decision, we've had ours for a month or so now.

I saw that at one of the shops I went to and you have to leave your driver's license and a credit card number. I actually registered for that or whatever but I bought 8Ks instead and I love 'em.

Thats cool, I want to try out the Kor skates and see if they are going to put my graf 609's to rest, I also herd that the Kor shift One will fit like the Graf 609\709 is that true Chad.

I'd actually be interested in trying Kor as well. Think about it, this is an excellent type program. For instance, I typically wear CCM. I might not even consider Easton (and likely not Kor if I didn't already know quite a bit about them from this board). This opens the possible consumers and likely increases consumer satisfaction (hey, if you had the chance to test it first and THEN didn't like it, it's your fault).

Chadd, keep the rest of us abreast on the Kor skate trial as well, if you could.

709's don't exist in my neck of the woods so I can't really compare. They do fit a bit deeper than most other skates. I haven't heard anything recently about Kor's demo program. I don't know if they're going to have the manufacturing capacity to do it.

I can't see alot of kids coming back and saying they don't like the skates. Some obviously will, but I think its a winning program for Easton because it will get alot of people into equipment and I believe most people have the initial "Bliss" period with new equipment.

I presume it's the tester's option (unless the pair they got were new - I bet that the same pair will be baked/rebaked several times and demo'd by more than one person, so one would likely prefer to get a brand new one).

Synergys don't get baked, it voids the warranty. I would not want skates that 20 other people tried, I'd want the new ones.

I wasn't aware they didn't get baked, and I'm with you - I wouldn't want a $500 skate that 20 other people tried out before me (nor would I want to risk catching swamp-foot in general, but... that's another matter all together).

Don't forget, CCM is offering the 2005 Sr Pro Tacks with a 30-day money back trial period. You buy the skate, if in 30-days, you don't want to keep it, you get your money back. Not a bad deal. Offer valid till Oct 15th.

Kor has been "rolling out" for a while now..have they finally started to hit stores? It was almost a year ago that the Test Drive was supposed to happen..

They made their last major design update in December, I believe they're finally happy with the product. I have no problem with a company taking their time to make sure a design is correct before releasing it.

I'm pretty sure that Mission has run a satisfaction guarantee for a few years now.

60 day fit guarantee and 1 year on construction. Both are skate replacement only.

Makes some sense if you think about it. It's carbon fibre composite. Reheating and bending would likely ruin the braid. Can you imagine how hot it is when they form that stuff? You wouldn't want it on your foot.

Actually the issue with the Eastons as I understand it is the adhesive, not just the composite construction. Kors are designed to be baked and they use slightly different materials. That's why the Synergy is lighter.

Well, regardless, next go around, I'm going to either try the Kor one of the Mission skates (Mission just looks so dang comfy).

I know... I know, so why am I writing here? BUT, I will probably try the Synnergy Demo to see if I can be swayed.
