Honda vs VW

Recommended Posts

I don't know, I've already been hit with the "well we'll need something more family-oriented later" scare, which feels like a kick to the stones and comes just as subtle.

I'm living the "we need something family oriented", so I have to look at things like the WRX STI or the EVO. Not bad, but not my old CRX

:(

As for the CRX, who DOESN'T love the CRX?!? I bought a new Civic Si just because I couldn't find a good crx around here.. closest thing I could get. ;)

the ep civic si (the hatch) one?

Yes.  I had a 3 hr interview yesterday.  Familiar with the rink?

Sweet! my sons team plays there twice a year. I'll be bringing my skates along next time. B)

What team does your son play for?

Hagerstown Bantam squad

nice, my former roomie had one before his sti. never did get around to putting "minivan" on his plate. fun car to drive. hello my fellow k-series engine brothren (rsx-s here).

vw's are nice, but reliability is still suspect for me. that new golf hatch is pretty sweet looking if it ever makes it over here.

400 pounds means nothing when your car out-handles the other one by a long shot. But i forgot, as long as your car goes fast in a straight line its cool. No wonder there are so many auto accidents...

Ask JR. None of this matters as long as you are able to stop as fast as you are able to go. Before you mod up your ricers, do the world a favor and upgrade your brakes accordingly. I know it doesn't make your car look more "pimp", but at least you won't run into anybody while trying to look like a badazz.

handling is brakes/suspension, anything that helps it turn... i'd much rather have 4 wheel disc brakes w/ optional ABS than rear drums that come on Civics. Icedog03 can comment on that one.

Yeah, 400 pounds doesn't mean anything. Doesn't mean anything in terms of how the car handles in the corners, how it accelerates, how it brakes, how it wears the tires, anything like that  Let me guess, the 5000 pounds an escalade carries around has no bearing on it's handling?

And new SI's don't come with rear drums, you clown.

My point was, even if my car is 400 lbs heavier, it STILL handles better. And, you never even mentioned new si's till i said that a VW handles better. Not only that, a new Si would still get smoked by a new 2.0T FSI GTI in a road race.

You typical Honda ricers annoy me. As long as it sounds like a chainsaw and goes in a straight line you're happy.

I should have known better than to make a simple comment.

what exactly are you comparing your car to? i've driven a jetta gli and a r32. they're pretty great cars, but i wouldn't say that they handle on rails. do you really think that all honda's have poor handling? ever driven an integra type-r (even a gsr), prelude sh, s2000, or even a crx? honda's make fantastic track cars.

and that's a fantastic mentality grouping honda supporters in that way.

i was talking about civics, and most of the cars you are talking about i have no problem with. as for honda supporters, i have no problem with them, i have a problem with the people that think they're civic with a fart can will take anything, and normally don't give a crap about other people on the road, a.k.a, ricers.

You tard, I don't even drive a damn honda. A GTI does not handle better than an EP3 or an RSX-S, period. Ever go to any open track days? Let me guess, you saw a GTI beat an SI hatch autocrossing in front of wal mart once, so they're superior, right? You regularly see GTI's on good rubber (Azenis, etc) with K04's barely holding their own with RSX's on stock rubber and maybe bolt ons. I don't even live near any good road courses but in the handful of times that i've been to good courses (Road America, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta) I have NEVER seen a new GTI beat out a new Honda. GTI's are heavier, they have poor suspension geometry, terrible bump steer, inadequate drivetrains, and sloppy bodies. I'm not some honda fan boy but if you think a GTI is a better car than an RSX-S or an EP3 that's flat out ignorant and wrong.

The only things sitting in my driveway are a 66 Coronet and a friends 99 GSX, but what do I know, I must be some kid with a honda that thinks everything is great if it has a fart can and goes moderately fast in a straight line

hey, civics handle great as well. especially hatches. 4th-6th gen civics are great track cars. not exactly lightning fast on the straights, but they can be made to cut the turns.

let's not escalate this into name calling now. i was just annoyed by the fact that you went to the "rice" b.s. when no one discussed any of that f&f stuff in this thread. i just hate the automatic honda driver=ricer comments. there are idiots in every kind of car. vw's included.

My Jetta was a turd.

so is ajd's

but honestly both Honda and VW have their strong points. VWs are nice for the price like some come with heated seats and mirror defrosters...both stuff you would not find on a Honda of the same price.
