Hockey sites you can't miss?

Best mate and I are planning a trip to Canada come Sept./Oct. 2006. Looking at this time as its not too cold yet (we're Aussies, anything below 15.C is considered "Freezing") and to hopefully correspond with the new Pro Ice season in addition.

Of course we'd love to catch a NHL game, but will also fit in a few minor league games too. We'll most likely tour east to west for just under a month, at this stage. What are some of the sights that you guys can recommend we see strictly from a Hockey point of view? Sure Canada has more to offer than Hockey but we'd love to fit in as many "Must Hockey sees" for as long as we are there. ;)

Also who would be the best people to talk to in terms of getting a game/training session of Inline over there? I'd love to bring my gear with me and have a game or two whilst travelling. Stu and I are both in our early 20's, have played state and pro hockey here in Aus and train outside of hockey, fitness wise 3 times a week.

Suggestions? Comments? Questions?

I'd Definately say hit the Hockey Hall of Fame, If you're going across the country try to get out and at least see all of the NHL rinks. Inline isn't really that big around here, so I don't know who you could go about skating with.

They might have free drop in but it is early in the morning like 7 or 730 in the morning til 9 on wednesdays from what I can remember (5years ago Minoru Areana). But phone ahead. It's been a long while since I played there. Maybe other posters can phone for you.

Toronto is a must for hockey!! with over 200 indoor rinks in the area 3 OHL teams 1 AHL Team in Oct and Maybe one NHL team as well as the hockey hall of fame you can't go wrong! One thing if you want to see the Maple Leafs they are hard to get and very expensive!

Montreal - Learn the French heritage. While in Quebec watch a QMJHL game.

Next is Toronto - Watch a Maple Leaf game, go to the Hockey Hall of Fame, and basically visit every hockey thing there.

Winnipeg - while in Manitoba watch a WHL game.

Saskatoon - Watch a WHL game.

Edmonton - Watch and AHL game and visit United Cycle (biggest hockey store)

Camrose - Come watch a AJHL junior A game. Camrose is ranked #1 in Canada.

Calgary - Tour the Saddledone.

Rocky Moutains - Camp and stay at least a week here.

Seattle - Go the the United States.

Vancouver - Go the a Canuck game and visit the city.

...because they were tied, going into OT, their goalie hesitated for about 1/1000th of a second, and Weyburn scored.

Just because you are #1, doesn't mean you win the championship.

Poop on saskatoon, go to Regina, Its way better, Extreme sports is a big store too, you can go see that along with a WHL game. Plus its the capital of saskatchewan

Cool Cool....so far I've got Toronto and the hall of fame listed.

I think we will be doing most of the main cities at this stage it will look something like this....

Quebec-->Montreal-->Ottawa-->Winnipeg-->Edmonton-->Vancouver.

Can't wait to see it all! Especially Edmonton Im a big Mark Messier fan so that place for me is gonna be awesome considering how many times I've read his Bio.

PS: Teaching myself how to speak more French atm, but its hard not having a single person to talk back to in the language! ;)
