stealth vs SL

Recommended Posts

I'm not getting alot of customers in the shop complaining about their new Easton OPS's but I sure do read alot about problems on MSH. Any other comments?

Peter

People around here seem to accept a lack of durability from Easton products that they don't tolerate from other brands.

I don't believe that is a true statement at all. Many Vapor XX skates users accept a lack of durability from the skate and came back for the XXX. Easton has the largest market share of OPS's and are far and away the most accessible for purchase.

What are some products that 'people around here' don't accept a lack of durability from?

"Around here" was meant geographically, not in reference to this website. And while I was referring to sticks, people around here do expect skates as expensive as the vapor XX to hold up longer than they do. The difference is most kids grow out of them in a year so it isn't as much of an issue.

ok, well I broke down and got a stealth. Just arrived, I was playin' with it on the carpet, comparing it to my SL, for some reason the Stealth felt flexier but both are 100.

I still love my SL, but wanted to try out the stealth for a month see which I prefer Summer hockey is coming to a close and winter hockey is approaching, must-get-ready

ps: thanks for letting me ramble and bring back this thread again... and again.. and again :D

A kid just left my shop who is on his 5th SL, all replaced under warranty. As soon as that runs out, I'm guessing he'll go to another model.

My Easton rep was in the shop today so I called him out on the SL problems. His answer was that alot of dealers are selling through SL and he has written alot of SL fill-in orders. I think I'll be happy when I sell through my SL stock and will definitely not fill-in. All the guys will be using their warranty replacement SL's by then! Like I said in an earlier post on this thread, my SL Grip blade fractured in less than two months. Not good at all. The Vapor XXX I'm using now feels even better than the SL. I let go a wicked one-timer in between the circles last Friday that had the goalie ducking 'cause I almost conked him on the noggin! And I like to shoot low!

i loved my SL when it was in 85 flex in a drury curve, nothing was better but then it broke so i got one in a gaborik curve , and it was HORRIBLE, so i picked up a stealth grip for $40 and i actually love it, which is suprising because i hated my first stealth

ebay , he said it was just a shaft , but it came as a one piece and i looked at the blade , and there wasnt a crack on it , so i used it and it works fine and its still holding up , i dont know what that guy was thinking

I'm starting to adjust to mine. It's tough, but after about my 7th-8th skate with it I could recieve passes. When this breaks I think I'll be back with the Recchi Vectors.

i had been using cyclones for about 6 months, brought a stealth, i could recieve a pass, give a good one aswell, wrist shots were great, i didnt like the slap and snap shots on it becuase im to strong for the flex, but once i went back to the cyclone, i couldnt use it, everything felt wrong, did anyone else have this, once going back to a different stick?

I have 3 good sticks right now, a stealth, sicore, and a Z-bub with a wood blade. After using the stealth for a long while it made the sicore feel heavy in my hands, and the Z-bubble feels like a damn stone in my hands now. Although I do like the smaller radius shaft on the Stealth, I think it just feels great in my hands. This is a Toy Drive stealth as well, and I've been playing with it non-stop since January, so I've got some good life out of it, but I don't know if I can stomache 300 bucks for a stick when this one breaks.

Well I used the Lid Stealth Friday night, and I couldn't get a slap shot off to save my life.. but with my Forsberg SL I can get my best slapshot ever.. is this because ones a stealth other is SL, or is it the lie or blade difference??? sorry, Im just a newb when it comes to this stuff.. im like Cole Trickle in Days of Thunder, I know how to use the stick, but don't know the techinical stuff behind it.. LOL.. any help/suggestions?? I'm tryin' it again today, gonna work on wristers too see how those feel.. passes are fine but so is the SL

Different lies, curves, and blades. I have both a Stealth and SL Drury. I find stickhandling better with the SL. Everything else is pretty close, but that's just my personal experiences with the 2 sticks.

It's all in the curves. I've used a Stealth and an SL, and for me the feel is very similar. The SL just feels a bit heavier due to the larger shaft, but other than that they're very similar. My sicore is a lidstrom and the stealth is a modano/forsberg, and it's a big change moving between the two curves.

Just a question but everyone is saying that the stealth is flexier then normal but at my LHS they are selling 110 flex SL's and they flex exactly like an 85. Could this be a mislabeling or do they flex that way??

thanks in advance!

Both, I had the 110, then bought the 120 when it came out.

thats probably just a mislabel , because a 110 steatlh should feel like 100-105 or so , my 100 flex feels like about a 90ish
