Many Diffrent Grips...

Ok, Ive done some searching and I have dug up gripping methods/products from several diffrent post. They are...Shoe Goo, Vinyl Spray, Polyurethene Spray, Hairspray, Stick-It, Pow'r Tac, Pine Tar, Super Shaft Saver, Plasti-Dip, Wax, Easton Tac Cloth, and Rust-Oleum Grip&Gaurd. I'd just like some Pros and Conns of these grips from some of the people that have used them. Also maybe the cost, applying tips and the finish of some of these products. For those of you that have used multiple numbers of these methods, which one did u like the most? Also if theres any grip methods or products I left out (besides candy cane or back side of tape) could you post them. Thanks in advance.

Hair spray doesnt work.......Maybe you have to glob it on but i dunno....

I've tried spraying this baseball/softball grip stuff on my shaft..not sure what it's called but it worked pretty well. The only con of it is that its a little too sticky.

uh, goat skin palms? also i think the heliums have tack, or at least on their fingertips. i think a bunch of mission gloves have tacky (like rubbery) palms

dont know what to put this under, but ive used "grip and guard" tool spray.

pro- good grip, fairly subtle but defiantly noticeable

con- peels off pretty soon (id say 3-4 skates or so)

Hairspry does not work at all. I hear there is a certain kind of spray you have to buy, but after buying 3 or 4 bottles of different stuff, I gave up.

Grip and Guard is nice, but as TCsnipes said, it peels off pretty fast.

The Easton cloth works VERY well. Puts a nice even grip coating on the shaft. It also does the job and it's not too sticky. There is also no residue to deal with so thats a big pro.

I agree with the palms being an option. I have TPS digitech ones and they make my grip sticks seem like overkill.

Dunno, What type of palms are on Sandes? Thats all Ive had for the past 2+ years.

edit: Juss looked on there web site.I guess Sandes have nash palms.

I'd get goatskin palms for them. Find them on the Sande website, I think they're $20. Otherwise I'll comment on some of the grips on your list.

Pow'r Tac - Very good, after it gets used a bit. I spray it on and then with an old glove just rub up and down. Otherwise it's too sticky.

Hairspray - Doesn't work.

Pine Tar - NO WAY! It'll ruin your gloves and your stick will look like someone just shat on it.

Wax - Gives a VERY nice grip... if you want to reapply it every 15 minutes. It just doesn't hold up. But like I said, the grip it gives is very nice.

Just got my order of Pow'r Tac today and used it on my synthesis(hated the slick surface of that thing) and it did seem great at first. Then i stickhandled a little in the house with my gloves on and it almost seemed too sticky. After a while it started to get "broken in" a little bit and Im starting to like it more and more. Cant wait to get on the ice with it. Thanks to all who mentioned the Pow'r Tac.

don't L29 palms have alot of tackyness to them...i just remember that the "all cow leather" design included some sort of grippy palm... correct me if i'm wrong.

yeah the L29s do have a nice grip with the cowhide. IMO the cowhide leather is tackier than the goatskin or horsehide

May not like the grip of the company. May not be offered in his area. May not be available at all, like the Xn10 series.

I hate the grip that comes on nearly all sticks anymore. The problem is the nash palms on most gloves is pretty slick when you sweat a lot.

Is this for the grip on those slick composite shafts or for the knob on the grip?

For the shaft some guys spiral wrap tape down the shaft. I guess some guys don't want to cover up the graphics on their $200+ one piece stick though.

You may also have noticed watching a pro game that on the bench they all keep a couple of 18" (or so) long pieces of a stick shaft. On it they wrap a bunch of tape with the adhesive facing out. The players rub this on the shaft of their sticks to transfer a little of the adhesive on to the shaft. Some times just on the corners and sometimes more. It may or may not be hard on your glove palms depending on how much you use. Some players do the same thing with friction tape.
