I don't understand all the fuss around Nieds. I think over the past few years he has been one of the most overrated players in the NHL. He has been fortunate enough to play in NJ which is very solid defensively. Plus it doesn't help that he is backed up by Brodeur. I think if he had to play on a team who didn't trap like the Devils, his defensive skills wouldn't seem so impressive.

I'm a Devils' fan, and I admit that Niedermayer will get overpaid (seemingly likely by NJ). Being solid defensively is a hard thing to quantify, and something you can't really notice unless you watch certain players night in and night out. It's not something you can really get a sense of after watching five or six Team Canada games.

The fact that he's the reigning Norris Trophy winner probably nets him an extra couple of million over the life of this contract.

I actually think Rafalski has better hands than Niedermayer.

The Boston Herald said the B's offered Modano four years at $21M, while the Stars offered five at $17.5M. If he's going to accept the Stars' offer, his heart is obviously in Dallas.

Matt Dandenault (Defenceman) has just signed with the Montréal Canadiens, a 4 year contract worth 7 million. The terms of the Kovalev contract were released and he signed a 4 year deal for 18 million. Forsberg is apparently in Montréal with his agent and apparently will have a meeting with Gainey later today. Montreal is also apparently in the lead to land Satan (from RDS.ca). I hope they don't become the Canadian version of the New York Rangers. I think Forsberg is a long shot, they have a better shot in landing Satan.

They can't. They don't have Cap room. I think all Holland wants/needs is a goalie...and he's expecting to get a second tier guy for what he has to spend.

Good, smart moves by Doug McClean. He did especially well signing Berard for the money.

They may well be the favorites in the division if Detroit and Chicago don't get their mess cleaned up soon.

come on now...Eric Brewer?...I think the Blues got the Central locked up...

don't forget about yesterday...Trent Whitfield...ok i'm being sarcastic about that one...

I kept running to the Leaf fans everytime someone signed someone...."What about the Leafs?" They'd ask...."nothin' yet" I'd say.

ALL teams will run out of cap space quick. There are more players than cap space available. Short story is teams that have made no moves may have some nice players left on the cheap.

That my hope anyhow.

I can remember being on the glass on the Pepsi Center on Rob Blakes first game. I was looking at:

Blade, Foote, Bourque, Forsberg, Sakic, Drury, Hejduk, Roy, Tanguay and the rest.

I feel VERY LUCKY to see that lineup and appreciate that I had.
