KOR Skates

Recommended Posts

I've been using them for a couple weeks now. I still have a little more usage to go before I start my full review but I'll be happy to answer any questions that I can.

I'm mostly interested in fit and performance. As well, curious about how the low cut boot performs on the straight away and turns. What skate does it most resemble?

They fit small, similar to Mission in terms of sizing. About a half size down from a dress shoe. The low cut boot really lets you get low and extend your stride plus I was amazed at how easily they turn. I feel as though I can lay down a lot more in a turn and still hold my edge and speed. I still lace them down one eyelet despite being a lower cut boot, probably due to the increased stiffness over my S500s.

Three of the other guys who have purchased Kors through the shop have had some blistering problems on the inside of their foot, on the side of the arch. I have not had that problem. I believe, though I could be wrong, that it is because their feet are much more narrow than mine and the looser fit causes some rubbing. I have a bit of a hot spot at the widest part of my foot but I haven't had a chance to try and work it out.

I really want to try on a pair to see how they fit me feet but I cant find a store near me that has them and I couldnt even fit a list of stores that carried them on their website. Does anybody know how I could find out or am I out of luck?

It's the PITCH holder. Mission put it out last year. Very well recieved on the board. It's a new company, pretty small and they have put alot of work into these skates. This causes a fairly high price tag.

Ok thanks for that info. Just thought because a new company puts a $800 tag on a new product nobody really knows about.

It's a tough sell for them. I've heard its a very good product. I searched a bit, but didn't find anything regional. I've seen them in person a half dozen or so times, most of what I saw was a proto type where these appear to be the finished model. I believe Ignla was skating in these (possibly only at practice) for a little. I imagine the materials cost alot, considering they were the first graphite skate, and are also heat moldable, so they can't drop the price too low, but the price tag must make it difficult to move. They seemed to have really taken their time on a release, some proto types have been on peoples feet and some stors were selling them, but these seem to be the finished models and they've been working on them for a while.

Yeh but if you look at his other items he has Pro tacks for $699

It's what they cost around here I believe. Top of the line skates are $699, Synergy, XXX and I'd assume (although I've never checked) Pro Tacks.

Well, if you are in Southern California, contact me and we can setup an appointment to meet and have you demo them.

Just so you know, this is a two step process involving a fitting on one day and then a trial of the skate on the next. You just don't heat the skate, fit and go skate.

I was at an event this past weekend and had no problems getting players to try the skate, or even buy it. I think you would be quite shocked on the fit of this skate, as compared to others.

Chadd, What is the holder and steel like on it? Nice and strong? What about the weight of the skate itself.

Also, what makes them worth $799??? I've only heard of this company a few months ago.

That's pretty expensive, we sell them for $475. The only real comparison on the market is the Synergy 1300c and they are $550 or more at most retailers. I like mine so far but they aren't really for everyone. I can't imagine any parent buying these for their kid who is still growing.

Justr wondering if anyone has tried or demo'd the new KOR skates? Any comments...

I demoed a pair of the Kor skates a while back. The skates are hella comfortable, but the pair I had, had a screw from the holder sticking out through the inside right in the big toe area, and since the skates don't have insoles it was a real pain in the butt, and the Pitch holder in my opinion blows (Actutually I hate it because it ruins the skate). Kor originally started with Tuuks, but after Bauer caught on they banned Kor from selling their skates with TuuKs (the Kor rep told me that, who by the way is very good, the whole Kor customer service is great).

As far as the skate it's a really low skate and even though the lower shell is composite the area ankle is fairly soft so it takes a while to get use to them. Turning is easier, but I felt not as quick with the skates, probably due to the lack of stiffness.

If the Kors weren't stiff enough for you, you have major issues. They do have insoles as well, they are just sewn-in and not removeable. Bauer doesn't permit any skate to be sold with "their" holder and Kor tested with every holder on the market, not just Bauer. I recall the original videos that were posted showing Tuuks, prolites and even Easton holders I believe.
