They went through my "roof" a couple of months ago ;) It's going to be another 10 cents a gallon by lunch tomorrow and $3 a gallon if any refinery or oil platofrm is severely damaged. Sticks of Fury 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2005 Know a couple from NOrleans too. They have their home under 7 feet of water and lost about $30,000 us dollars in possessions. They are in Texas now and don't know if they want to go back. On a side note: I wonder if Epuck is ok since they are located in Louisiana too. The town of Lafayette (ville). Not sure if the spelling is right.Did a little checking and found this on their site.08/30/05EPuck is Shipping On Time! Our warehouse and shipping operations are unaffected by Hurricane Katrina, and all orders are shipping on time as normal. We would like to thank the many customers and vendors that have emailed and called to check on us. We are fine in our part of the state and thank you once again for your support. mack 44 Report post Posted August 31, 2005 The wife has family in MS and thankfully they're fine, while their homes are probably worthless now though. Moved over to TX and will hopefully be fine there.
A_Steeves12 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2005 i was just watching CNN's coverage of it, and some of the shots just make me feel sick and to hear that people are looting now. i mean when hurricane Juan hit here i thought that was bad with all the trees down and power out for week, but juan wasnt even close to being on the same scale as this one. ponty 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2005 I can remember being at a seminar with the sales rep out of New Orleans and we had a discussion about what a Hurricane would do to that area.He knew very well about the possible outcome. Very sad.

jjtt99 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 The looting is what gets to me the most. Brutal.Situations like this bring out the best, and unfortunately, the worst in people.
mack 44 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 I can understand the looting when I see people are taking TP and diapers, but then I see people in malls/stores with dress clothes running around. That and the shots being fired at military helicopters just make me wonder how long till we see something like the Reginald Denny tape hit.
kosydar 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 I know a couple of kids who go to Tulaine. One of them had everything he owns destroyed, but thankfully he was evacuated. The second girl, nobody knows anything about. Its pretty scary that something like this can hit home 3000 miles away.
Miike 1 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 The thing that disgusts me, is all the poor people, the city had no plan at all to help them out. You look on TV and how many white people do you see looting? How many black people do you see homeless, have nothing! (Not trying to be racist) but they wanted nothing to do with the less fortunate. You have your people looting for food and supplies, then you have you looters who are just out there for the sake of stealing stuff. Another thing that was really stupid, was 1-2 days before the hurricane hit, they were bumper to bumper on the freeway going outbound, when they should of just closed off inbound traffic, and have all the traffic going outbound. That would of been a smart move dont ya think? Especially when they're calling for 150-160 mph Category 5 hurricane before it hit! Just think if it did hit as a 5, when it only it as a 4. New Orleans will take years to rebuild. This isnt a project that will take a few months to rebuild. They're not expecting power back for a month or so i heard some reports! When Hurricane Juan hit Nova Scotia we lost power for max. 4 days which i found ALOT. My heart goes out to all the people down in Louisiana.

Yeah that DVD player is going to do you a lot of good when you're under 20 feet of dirty water. And shooting at the people who are there to help -- what's up with that?I'm guessing this is the minority of folks though. We all know how the media likes to sensationalize the negative. I bet there are a lot of stories of brave, heroic and generous acts we'll never hear about.JJ
Chadd 916 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 As someone on another website mentioned:many people with a very low income and with no cars makes it hard for them to get out of the city. Considering the very high crime rate in many of those low income areas before the flooding, it's not surprising at all.
