Theo Fleury

Recommended Posts

Theo plays his second home match tonight against cardiff, cant wait to see him play again he is quality. the elite league is a good standard, we get some goodplayers comming over and even the home grown players are decent players, they dont look out of place. its never going to be the standard of american or canadien hockey but its alot better than italian hockey and shute all your doing is making yourself look stupid by saying they are the same standard

Considering that Italian teams are limited to half the number of imports as the british teams I´d say they aren´t too far from each other.

Going back to Theo Fleury's debut game in the EIHL....

Damn all you Belfast-Theo supporters! The only reason we Caps lost so badly because we've been having an "off" period in the season (Kucera played AMAZING tonight against Basingstoke. Next time we play you Giants, we'll be ready)

Oh yeah, Theo did NOT beat Oduya in their fight... Oduya beat him.

Calgary get him back in the NHL.

Do they hawks still have him under contract or anything, or is everything voided since the lockout?

He still has not gone through the counseling mandated by the NHL substance abuse policy to the best of my knowledge. He would still be suspended until he completes that counseling/treatment at an approved facility.

Bull, Oduya threw the first few punches then after that it was allllll Theo, even when Oduya was on the ground Theo was still pummeling him. Oh and Oduya cheapshoting Theo was just low.

It's quite clearly established in the video who won the first fight (Oduya). Theo wanted to fight Oduya for his checking into the boards cos of the slash. Oduya did NOT cheapshot Theo - Oduya & Huppe were 'squaring up', certainly, but they were not fighting - neither had dropped their gloves or thrown a punch. Fleury is close by mouthing at Oduya. Oduya turns round to Fleury, Huppe then hits Oduya with his stick, just to remind him hes still there, and still wants to dance with him, but ODUYA prefers to go with Fleury.

There's the story.

You don't throw a punch when the other guy hasn't dropped his gloves. It's as simple as that.

Yeh and Fleury hadnt dropped the gloves and Oduya was on top of him after his cheapshot. I agree that it should have just been Oduya and Huppe but then Skiehar jumped in and then Bowen after Oduya jumped on Fluery. Although i was at that game, i still wanna see the video because Fleury certainly won the fight, so could someone post it up again please.

Does he have a full year contract? Does england have the IIHF talent exchange agreement?

Any real reason theo is playing in england?

I hate to be pedantic, but he's not. Northern Ireland isn't in England, and neither are the other parts of the UK.

/pedant

I heard he was just playing a few games to get the crowd in.

Watched the Sheffield Steelers aginst Belfast Friday night.....

To be honest it was genuinly upsetting to see a guy once so great playing... well...so crap.

In the first period he was virtually the worst player on the rink. He looked slow, made lots of turn overs, didn't back check and didn't support the guys around him.

He did score later in the game but he was "blazing" down the RW and the D man just gave him all the time in the world to pick his spot.

The worst part of the the whole things was...sniff..sniff.. he was using a retail stick!!!!! He had a Sicore that I saw him in THN with when he was playing in a mens league in Canada last year. The he came on with a silver Synthesis which I'm positive had a Lidstrom retail curve on it. I got close to the glass in warm ups and that's what it looked like.

So sad to see someone once so great having to use retail...brought a tear to the eye it did.

Yeah tell me about it! Theo is turning in too Mr Assist, in total he has 9 assists, 4 goals and what was surprised at 48 PIMs all in 5 games.

So 13 pts in 5 games isn't good enough for you? How long has he been out of pro hockey?

Seriously, no one in that league can hold a candle to his accomplishments.

And I hope you're joking about it being a shame him using a retail stick. If he likes the curve why not use it.

When the first Synergy came out pro's were buying them off the rack cuz Easton couldn't fill the demand.

Hey guys, im from Northern Ireland and watch the Giants quite a bit, i am not a fan as such, alot of people on this site from here and just generally kiss the giants butts as if they are awesome. though i also dont like the way some guys are puting elite ice hockey down, it has its talent. theo in my opinion is very skillful, and i agree with one of the last points which states that he didnt help his team mates and didnt back check, that is true, he stood at the blueline leaning on the boards, didnt come back for regroups, didnt forecheck, backcheck. he scored them goals as edinburugh are the weakest team in the league, he still has his hands and head. may i point out that he hasnt been soring as much against other teams, he hasnt got a goal in the last few games.

if he works on his fitness he could be a fu**ing good player and up to NHL standards.

does anyone know where to free online clips of games from the CHL, UHL or any other smaller leagues?

and he beat oduya to a pulp, who ever it was saying he didnt your talking bull i was there, if you were im sorry but u need eye surgery if u didnt see the last 3 punches of theos fist smacking him to the ice!!!

I'm not knocking Fleury's accomplishments ... did you read me write that? I'm not knocking what the guy has done, just knocking that me and a load of other muppets pay good money to watch him play and he quite frankly sucked.

I just think it is really sad to see a guy once so great playing in a average pro league and not completely dominating every shift. He got 7 pts one night against the leauge whippin' boys so his pts per game doesn't refelct his performance.

He scored a nice goal but did nothing for the rest of the game, turned the puck over so many times, no back check, just waved his stick in players directions when they went by him. I think everyone who payed £13 a ticket purely to see Fleury (approx 1500 people) were all disappointed with what they saw.

As I also said, he has some business interest playin for Belfast due to his relationship with the club management. Don't think it's all the "love of playing" like the media are making out.

And was being sarcastic about playing with a retail stick, but a guy who would've had equipment rep's dying to get him using their gear, it is pretty sad seeing him use retail gear. You not think?

i also see the giants quite a bit and if im being honest i jumped on the 'i love theo!' bandwaggon a bit quick. in his first game he was great but since then he has been poor, infact the belfast born players are playing better than him they show more heart and show the want to win that theo just hasnt shown. i realy like him i think what he has done throught his career has been amasing but i dont want to see a hockey great play like he doesnt even like to play anymore, however rossb it the nail on the head when he said

if he works on his fitness he could be a fu**ing good player and up to NHL standards

thats exactly right and i think he will work hard hearing interiews with him it does seem that he likes it here and he is treated like a hero in the Odyssey so maybe that will make him work hard
