Dion Phaneuf goes for a ride :P

Recommended Posts

ruutu didn't do anything...it looks like his stick interferes with Phaneuf but Phaneuf trips himself and falls over backwards. Even the guys calling the game on CBC were commenting about how Phaneuf tripped himself

When you take a look at the .gif in a slow motion, you'll see that Ruutu pushed him with his stick so he lost his balance.

RE: Announcers: Jim Hughson did play-by-play but I never found out who was doing color. Hughson can put the blinders on, for sure, but the color guy brought very little to the table. who was the color guy?

Rematch is tonight in Calgary. Load your guns boys, its gonna get rough!!

Sorry fellas, but I saw that shot from several different angles game night, and Phanuef fell by himself. As his leg comes up, it hits Ruutu's stick which was near but not touching his leg. Watch Ruutu's elbow in the clip: No trip, no shove, so quit being so indignant. You sound like a pack of old grandmothers - "Oh, that hockey's a dangerous sport! I'm glad he's okay..." :)

I think it's a classic case of a rookie getting his head jerked around by a veteran agitator.

He obviously pulls his stick, pretty vaginal move, but I guess some players you just expect stuff like that from.

Look for Rutuu to get creamed tonight. He's a chickenshit player who has zero integrity. In 2004 during the playoffs he put a fucking ankle-lock a la WWF on Chris Clark and tried to twist it after the officials had intervened in a tussle in front of the benches. Piece of shit even tried to use the top of the boards for leverage.

yeh that's what I believe happened, Phaneuf fell on his own and he also got a penalty for what happened there as well

Correct me if I'm wrong but when the replays were shown the annoucers said nothing to analyze what Ruutu did with his stick near Dion's leg. The announcers just gave the replay the big chuckle, rookie foolishness bs, and let the rest slide at that. After watching the replay, I think Dion did get his left leg pulled. NHL skaters just DO NOT wipe out like that without the stick pull behind the knee.

For those of you that think Ruutu isn't pulling on Phaneuf's leg, why do you think that one leg goes way up in the air, and why do you think Ruutu's stick comes back so fast? His stick comes flying back at him, because he was pulling on the back of his leg. Its so obvious.

haha exactly, the stick fires up after Phaneuf goes down, but noooo there was no pressure on his leg.

Ruutu definately has his stick between his leg and looks like he tugs a little, but does Dion step on his own stick?????

Nah, Phaneuf's stick lands to the right of Ruutu's right leg, nowhere near Dion.

I'm in Vancouver, and most Canucks fans I've talked to here think Phaneuf tripped, stepped in a rut, or stepped on his stick / glove.

From the vid it looks like Ruutu definitely pulled his knee, at least to me.

I think this is an example of how emotions can alter perceptions. Interessant.

Hughson seems to be the colour guy. All he does is talk and never does any play-by-play. <_<
