What a terrible return for the Ducks. Wow...I am shocked.

totally, the jackets came out looking like bandits. i thought burke would make a big move in the pond, but damn. this wasn't it.

What was the Ducks payroll before this? If they're now under that 30.5 million mark, you can bet that has something to do with the trade. Equity works, I guess.

Wow. but your not supposed to trade for damaged goods. So I wonder how hurt he is. but for 2 journeyman and a the Jackets also get a 5th rounder.

Actually, they were pretty close to the max.

I don't think its really that bad of a deal from the duck's standpoint. I've watched a lot of the duck's games this season and I thought they played better without Sergei than they did with him. Plus the ducks are awful anyways which makes me very happy.

I am a huge Kings fan and this deal works out perfect for me. My thinking: Gets a good player out of our division and puts him in Detroits division (the weakest division in the NHL) which in turn will make it more dificult for Detroit to win games against the terriblejackets...

what games have you watched? federov only played 5 games. two of which were recently after coming off an injury. in the first couple games of the year, i thought he was good. him and lupel looked good together. unless this is a dump of money to free up room for a another trade, this trade is pretty lopsided in my eyes.

I've watched parts of almost all the games they've played this season (with the sound turned down of course because ahlers and gayward are fags) and I honestly thought they did fine without him. I mean 7 points out of 1st place isn't that bad when you've had your best player sidelined for the majority of the games.

A definate $$ dump. Alot of people were saying this would happen and that Burke had been shopping Federov for a while, because of this very high (pre NHL salery) not many teams could afford him. Good Luck with the jackets, Sergei!

The way I look at it is: the ducks got something, which is better than nothing. Fedorov wasn't working out well for the Ducks, and with this move, they got 2 workable parts, and some cap room.

Columbus, of course, I would argue, got the better end of the deal, as I have no reason to suspect that Fedorov won't be fully healthy again, and when he is and Rick Nash returns, there'll be someone to set up Nash.

Initially, when I first saw this thread, I thought it was either a)Nashville or b)Columbus that traded for him. I suppose both teams could use some help down the middle, but I would've loved to see Sergei flanked by Paul Kariya and Steve Sullivan.

burke must have gotten sick of segeri's showing when he feels like it. just glad to see that he wore out his welcome in LA also. guess he didn't like being the go to guy. oops you have have to show and play every nite segeri to be the go to guy not when you want to. just glad he's not back in detroit.

Cut the guy some slack, it's been five games. In '03/04, he was the Ducks best player and most consistent scorer. Back in Detroit, he was a key cog too. His name doesn't have to appear on the scoresheet every night for him to be a factor. Remember, this guy is a two time Selke winner, so he can't be knocked for being all offense all the time either. He's a two way force.

At the very least, he doesn't disappear for 3 year stretches, like some other player I know. That plays for the Rangers. And has the initials JJ. Wears the number 68. And his last name is Jagr. Not that I can knock him for his performance this year...glad to see him playing with some fire again...but only b/c I have him in salary cap...

And howabout Yashin? There are tons of guys to rip for being passionless way before you can ever get to Fedorov.

Yashin is playing with heart this year. Not deserving of that salary, but I don't think its not fair to knock him.

He was great for a while, but I think he's tailed off quite a bit. He's inconsistent to say the least.

No, and, that was 03-04. This is 05-06 and the NHL is a business of "what have you done for me lately." That's why trades happen.

If that's the case, maybe the Blue Jackets should drop Rick Nash. Being hurt and all, he hasn't done much for the Jackets lately...

sorry guys i just was never a big fan of sergei. he is a good player WHEN he wants to be, and more often than not, we er i remeber games the wing needed him to show up and he didn't. i konw the whole anna thing messed with his head and all and his on-ice proformace suffered. i wish him well as long as he doesn't come back to the wings.
