Luongo to the flyers?

Ther is rumors here is philly that Luongo could be coming to the flyers for Jeff Carter and Robert Esche? Just throwing it out there I know its just rumors but I'd Love to see it.

Esche is hurt, and is known to have a nagging groin or hip problem. I think that more than anything else will determine the trade. It's like going to buy a car that you know the transmission is bad in and can go at anytime.

No way he's going to Philly. Who are they going to give up, Carter, Richards, Pitkanen? Florida is going to want LOTS for Luongo, and I can't believe Philly would trade away the future of their team. That would just be crazy.

It's not crazy if they are trading future for future. Pitkanen is staying, but with two young centres there is definitely room to move one especially if it would return a goalie that will be a star for the next 10-15 years.

Philly is a good team (hurts me to say it), but they haven't really been solid in net for a number of years. Cechmanek had his moments, Esche is pretty good, but Luongo is a whole different level.

I think almost any player in the NHL would be available for that package. The problem is it wouldn't clear up enough cap room.

Philly is extremely deep in good young talent, I can't think of anyone else with the kind of young depth they have. I have more questions about Philly handling the cap than what package they can put together. If they want him bad enough, they can get him.

Vancouver just picked up Maxime Ouellet from the Caps so they probably

would not be interested in Luongo now .

That and there is no way Clarke would give up both Richards and Carter. He's already said that Pitkanen is almost untouchable.

No team will trade for Luongo until at least January because Luongo can't sign a contract extention until January.

No team will trade away star players/their future just to have Luongo walk away after the season. Part of any trade for Luongo will almost certainly require Luongo to sign a extention if the deal will get done.

Trading away Carter or Richards is one thing, but Joni is on a whole other level than those two. He's much better defensively than I thought he'd be.
