QandA 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 I drop the helmet. I would rather be punched in the face than be punched on the cage. It's a match penalty in Canada if you take your helmet off. Meaning you'll get more games out of it. That's why you see a lot of guys take each others helmets off before a fight.

Ti-girl 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 I've been in a lot of shoving matches (I play girl's hockey) though we've had a few times where people have been wrestled to the ground.I was playing in a men's league last year and got clocked so hard that my mouthguard went flying out. It was PROBABLY a clean hit, but I'm short so I got it in the side of the head. Fell hard and slid headfirst into the boards. Got up PISSED OFF.Walked up to the guy who did it and we shoved each other a few times. I skated away and he tripped me. NOW I'm mad and OBVIOUSLY not thinking straight so I rip my helmet and cage off and go "Fine you want to be an asshole, come on. Hit a girl."He laughs, takes off his helmet and goes "Fine, bitch."By this point I'm going "WTF are you doing? God, run! You stupid retard RUN!" but I'm already into it so I just sort of stand there. I shove him and he goes to hit me and I move. He's off balance, I reach for the back of his pants, pull up and he falls. I kind of stand there and then RAN. Everyone laughed at my guts/stupidity. Gotta say looking back, I never should have done it. But hell, it makes people laugh.
mrusse01 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 I would rather be punched in the face than be punched on the cage.Um...why? Any hockey fight I've ever been in I just try to hold on basically, so I've never really lost or won a fight. I'm way too pretty to risk getting punched in the mug. I get a lot of them because I tend to play a kamakazie style of hockey, but I get used to it.I give a lot of shots back, but that time it went a little too far.Never intend on doing that again,
M.W. 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 It was in Bantam. Biggest guy on their team hit my teammate from behind. I got absolutely worked, but I knew going into it that I probably would, as the guy was a lot bigger than me. After the mandatory one game suspension I ended up with an A on my jersey. DEATHTRON 19 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 Been in 4 fights. Lost 4 fights. First fight was at a JR. camp, I was 16 with something to prove. Guy was bigger, older, much more seasoned. I learned that day the valuable lesson to let the guy youre fighting come to distance to hit you in the face, dont lead with your face. Since my last fight, I learned Im not a fighter, and would rather take a cheap shot to get even.Zach
Patrick67 1 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 "would rather take a cheap shot to get even" <--- that has to be one of the worst posts I've ever read on this board.Coward.I recieve cheapshots all the time every game, because I'm a pretty decent goal-scorer, but I never retailitate with anything but clean hits myself.Don't stoop down to their level. DEATHTRON 19 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 You can say what you want, but if some dude is going to take one at me he had better expect one coming back. I have just as much respect for a guy as he does me. Zach

-brady2 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 lol im still only a bantam so they are all stupid cage fights that really mean nothing lol. The first fight i got in i won with one hit. 3 kids from both teams were on the ice fighting and one kid started going for this small kid on my team who was suprisingly beating the hell outta a kid close to twice his size and i came head on at the kid and hooked him and he just went down to the ice and got up crying lol it was actually pretty funny. the ref ended up calling the game early.a kid was crying because of that?sucks to be that kid
mick 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 my first fight involved me being jumped about 6 weeks ago. Guy kept asking me to go and never having fought and being a skilled player i said no everytime. With about 8 mins left off a face off he said lets go again and i said no once again and then he said well im gonna jump you and he did. But instead of turtling (like i should have) i dropped my gloves as soon as i realized what was happening and we went toe to toe for a while but he had already gotten my helmet and jersey off. His last punch ended up breaking my nose and i had to wear a cage for 5 weeks. But i have to thank him because i have been on fire ever since he broke my nose collecting 13 points in 8 games

BigDipper 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2008 I roared when I read this topic. Brought back memories. My first year Junior 'A'. I was a month shy of my 15th b-day. The vets were chirping me for a month into the season on when I would pop my cherry. Shit, this was ten years ago now in the old Metro Jr. A league in ontario. Went with a 20 year old plug. Did alright..got some in..then he turned it on. I think i was knocked out for most of it. He was pulling me in with his left and meeting me halfway with his right. My face looked like it caught fire and someone put it out with a wet chain. Guy apoligized to me after the game. he said he didnt realize how young I was. My old man drove 6 hours to watch the game. Afterwards he says this to me "...well..you feel alright?" i said"no..i feel like a douchebag" he says back "serves ya right..learned your lesson..this aint aaa anymore" he walks away and drives back home. 47 games played that year...i managed to rack up almost 180 pims. Time well spent.
