disappointing equipment?

Recommended Posts

what have you been most disappointed by? i had an alpha nemesis and i was in love with the feel, but after the blade broke, i was very disappointed when i turned the alpha into a shaft, and when i went back to an 1100 and realized how bad the alpha's shaft was for shooting because shots with my 1100 just seemed to fly off the blade compared to the alphas.

Mr. Assist (puck on a chord) training device. Built fine but totally unusable. Gets tangled up at every chance. Have no idea how it made it past quality control. Good thing it was only $20!

i hated my alpha nemesis. after reading the hype about it in the reviews, i convinced myself i could use an iggy patten (pro 4). didnt like the curve at all.

im also dissapointed my xn10 is just about broken at the fuse point. i loved the stick and it sucks that it no longer shoots like it used to

I thought the Pro 4 was a modano clone, its Identical to my Xv Hossa curve wise. Im not sure on lie though. BTW i love my alpha nemisis.

ive had a couple bad sticks. one time i bought a montreal woodie (with my own money for once since i was younger) and it broke at the shaft on the second shot i took. another time i recieved a mylec wood hockey stick that had an abs blade and the very first fricking shot i took the shaft snapped. i almost broke into tears since i was about 7 years old and i thought it was such a cool present from my uncle.

The old CCM wood sticks (prior to this whole Vector and Texalium blade thing, although those are pretty crap too), labelled 6X2, 8X2 and so on...heavy, dead feeling and flexy blades...complete garbage...thank god I picked it up for only $10...

Actually, anything from CCM over the past 5-8 years aside from their gloves have disappointed me quite a bit (although I can't say I've tried any of the shafts/OPSes)...and the '02 Tacks skate line...ugh...those non-integrated wedges were horrible.

That being said, the new Pro Tacks glove looks pretty good, although I wish they'd go easy on the massive CCM emroidery on the cuff...

I'm gonna have to say my Mission M-1 Pro's. For being such an expensive glove they didn't feel expensive, didn't have the best feel, and the palms wore out hella quick.

dude, the Hex-1 is by far the worst stick (ops) in my opinion. It chips more then any other brand. Ive used almost every brands ops and the mission hex has chipped the most. the toe is pretty much split in two, and the top of the blade has a huge gash in it and the foam from the middle sticks out. I also did not like the feel of the stick, but that could just be me. the response plus and the response have been the best sticks ive ever used.

My Vapor XX, complete garbage. i loved the curve ( p88) but i just could not handle the shaft, it seemed to open up when iw as shooting with it. got rid of that thing fast. :P

Vapor XXX stick. Blade too thick, crappy grip, flex point too far up the shaft, massive torque and last but not least too heavy for a top end stick. Wasted money for me.

Inno shafts

I had major problems with my novius, twisting on slappers and they never seemed to kick the same way twice in a row. 1100s weren't as bad but still had the twisting problems.

Yeah Novius for me too, have 2 with soft grip in 260 flex. My slapshot improved noticably after switching to the Bauer XX shaft 102 flex, loved the grip on the Inno's and they felt really nice in the shop (other option was 1100's with Polofiber grip) but the 90'ish flex on them plus the torque killed my shots.

And a CCM ht2 helmet, made my visor sit way too high, never used it and thankfully sold it for full price.

Vector 110 Shaft. Was supposed to be the mid-senior flex (it was actually sold as an intermediate shaft with the same lengh as the seniors) which I've read is supposed to be around 77-80 flex, felt more like an 85. Vibrated on slappers and I just didn't like the puck feel of the shaft at all. Off the ice it felt very balanced and had a nice feel to it but on the ice, totally different story.

Bauer Classic Gold skates - Heavy, terrible arch support, tox box didn't match well with the heel fit.

1st Gen. Bauer Vapor XX skates - Horrible flex and terrible ankle padding. Bauer took them back after my doctor directed me to return them due to bruised ankle bones. Not just the skin but the bones themselves.

1st Gen. Bauer Vapor XX OPS - Is the puck actually on my stick or not. You tell me!

Easton Air Gloves (circa 1993) - Probably the worst set of palms ever. No feel and no durability. Plus, the gloves had the worst mobility even with that free floating wrist cuff thing.

Reebok 5K w/Snake Grip shaft - Does it actually have a specific flex point anywhere???

Bauer Endure - Great shaft but the blade left a lot to be desired.

I gotta agree with Innos for the most part, but got some soft grip 180 1100s that have had no issues at all, making me wonder if they're different specs or my slapper has gone to complete crap.

Wristshot19: Funny you find the Endure blade to be crap, have the RB Endure (Naslund) and it's exactly like the Bauer X RB, just with a different paint job and the gummi strip atop the blade. Performance is good, weight decent and durabillity execellent. ;)

652 Tacks Helmet. Jesus that thing hurt after a while. I don't how pros would wear it for prolonged periods. I think this season most pro players made the switch (like myself) to the 852, or another helmet with more comfortable lining. But that 652 used to dig right into the back of my head.

It wasn't exactly crap. Just not the tops in my book when there are other options out there. I really thought that the Endure blade would be an improvement over the 1st. Gen Vapor XX blade and it wasn't.

What's odd is that I really like the blade on the Nike Apollo sticks.

CCM HT2/652 tacks Helmet. That thing is garbage, the padding is as hard as a rock and i cant even wear it for more than 5 min,due to my temple pounding. The horrible part is that they are team issued so I have to wear them in games, good thing I still get to use my RBK in practice even though that is garbage too.The padding fellout and the front has cracks where the screws go in.

TPS Rubber shaft. That thing was trassshhh. The rubber coating peeled off majorly.

Or my TPS THG (no, not HGT gloves) gloves. I saw these on 1800faceoff.com and it specifically said "TPS HGT Gloves". So I ordered them, thinking I was going to get the HGT's, only to be very disappointed. I HATED the gloves. I went back to my Eagle x70i's, which have gone through Hell and back. I can't wait for my Mission 10000's to get here.

I was dissapointed by the TPS XN10. When shooting or passing it felt "ceramic" which I believe other MSHers described it like this also. Soonafter, I purchased a Response Plus which felt great to me. Lesson to be learned is that pricier is not always better!
